Show and Tell Friday!

Pin It Now!

Did you get into the knitting craze a few years back?  I've actually been knitting for a long time but I'm not consistent with it.  When I was in my early 20s my goal was to knit an Irish Knit sweater and I did!  It even had small pockets on the front!  I still have it in fact!  Once I finished my goal sweater I didn't knit for awhile and then in my 30s I went through another knitting spurt and made about 5 sweaters then stopped again.  These days I tend to do quick projects like scarfs or when ponchos were really in a few years back I made about 5 of those...then donated them to the Goodwill when they went out of style so quickly!
I started this scarf for Lauren a couple years ago and my plan is to finish it before winter! It would be already finsihed but she wants it really long so I just keep knitting and knitting and knitting!  This pattern is called an Irish Hiking Scarf (If you click on that it will take you to the pattern). It's fairly easy if you already know how to knit cables and cables aren't really as hard as they look if you don't know how yet!

This time of year I always get the urge to knit! There is something so relaxing about it!

If you are joining in on Show and Tell Friday, please remember that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden. Hi Cindy,
I was looking at some knitting books today too and thinking I should do a project. I used to knit a lot when my children were small.
The scarf looks like a great project for the fall.
Thank you for hosting,
Carolyn

Very pretty! I crochet, but I tried knitting. Something about using both hands threw me off.

Oddly enough my Great Aunt knits and for years she couldn't crochet. For her using 1 hand threw her off. It's only been recently that she has self taught herself how to do both. Pretty good for someone who's about 84 years old and had a stroke!

I'm exactly the same when it comes to knitting and I have several unfinished projects! Your scarf is beautiful! I may have to learn to knit cables!

That is an absolutely beautiful pattern! I have done all sorts of crafts in my life and I am sorry to say that I never learned how to knit or crochet. I should just take the time to learn as I love the looks of knitted items!

I can't wait to see it finished! Diana

Cindy when I was in my twenties I
learned to crochet, well then I thought I needed to learn to knit.
I did and the only thing I knitted
and finished is a pair of mittens
for my son when he was 2yr.old. I
started a sweater and got one side
finished and I thought the heck with this crocheting is faster.LOL. Now I wished I would have stayed with the knitting and
learned more. Yours is beautiful and if you keep knitting maybe it
will reach LA. and I can grab it.

Cindy, this scarf looks lovely. I admire anyone who knits. I adore handknit sweaters and absolutely love when it's cold enough to wear a sweater. I have a closet full. But I never did learn to knit myself. Perhaps it's a goal I need to add to my life time list. ;-)

I always wanted to knit. But do you know who the knitter is in my family? My dad! He is the greatest, 87 and still knits socks for the entire family. I love him! Marcia
ps, are you coming to Escalon for the get-together next month? It would be so nice to meet you!

Good for you... I took a knitting class and just never could get the hang of it... I couldn't SEE the mistakes, let alone get them out. I gave up. Wish I hadn't.

Gosh, that scarf is SO beautiful!

I started a really difficult shawl, in these gorgeous yarns, and it's languishing in a bag because I can't figure out where I was in the directions or how to finish it... it's probably 2/3 done too. I should make a scarf, I need a new scarf! :)

Cindy,

That scarf is gorgeous! I've been crocheting for 30+ years, and have recently taught myself to knit. But, for the life of me, can not figure how to do cables! Oh...I wish you lived near me. :-)

However, I am inspired to give it another shot after seeing your scarf.
