A Great Deal on Fabric

Pin It Now!

I originally wanted toile fabric for my chairs but the more I started looking at fabric I decided on floral. I REALLY wanted this Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic fabric below but it's $68 a yard plus shipping! I need 3 yards and there is no way I'm paying over $200 to cover dining room chairs! That's almost as much as I paid for the table, chairs and hutch!!! So, I went to a fabric store called Fabrics R Us in San Jose that I hadn't been to in probably 8 years or longer. I remembered they had great deals and boy did I find a great deal. I got this fabric pictured below for $5.00 a yard! I could not believe it! I spent a little over $16 out the door!
I love that it has an old faded look to it. It looks quilted but it's not. I'm still getting used to having a print on the chairs and at times I look at it and it seems too busy to me but maybe that's because I'm used to a solid color in my dining room. I ordered the floral appliques to put at the top center of the chair right where the cane meets the wood. I hope they get here by Saturday so I can put them on before I paint the chairs!
I still plan on making the cute white ruffled covers like in the photo below so I can have a different look. For those that asked if I had a pattern, no I don't, I just plan on making it up as I go. I don't think it will be too hard.

I hope I'm not boring everyone with so many dining room posts but it's the only thing I'm thinking about these days!

I'm so enjoying watching your dining room set come together. I've put your site as one of my favorites and I check it every day or two when I need a quiet break. I have a special friend coming to visit this fall and you have single handedly gotten me redecorating my little townhome. I've needed that push and its fun to excited about my house again.
Thanks

Cindy, I love your fabric. And hey, with a deal like that, if you get tired of it in a year or so, you can always replace it and not feel too guilty.

Cindy,

The fabric is perfect! I love the fact that it looks quilted. If you have extra fabric, you can always make a throw pillow or two to put in your living room too.

Cindy I agree with cindyf I too have put you in my favorites and check your site so often. How in the world did you paint your chairs and table so fast? What paint will you use for the final coats? Let us know...Your table will look so good in your space and I like the French look to it as well as the caned back chairs. Your home is so romantic. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see it all done.

I love the fabric. The fact that it appears to be quilted gives it a little texture.

At first glance it appears the chairs were covered with a vintage quilt.

Love it.

I love the chairs with the ruffle on them. I found some chairs like the ones in the photo at a thrift store that were pink! For $4.00 each!! I then painted them black added new fabric to the seats and then for a change of pace I made little white skirts for them and loved them. Then I sold them because I was moving and wanted something new...that was a mistake. I loved them. You can see them on my website. www.theystylesisters.net under trash to treasure at the bottom of the page.
