Show and Tell Friday!

Pin It Now!

Happy Show and Tell Day!  Well, I had planned to get all my Easter decor out but with all that's been going on in my life I just didn't feel like doing it so I'm sharing what I did in previous years.  Looking at these photos makes me wish that I had decorated this year though!

I bought those faux chocolate bunnies at Marshalls a couple years ago! I love them!

Zero calorie chocolate eggs are the only ones I want in my home!  They look real, but they aren't!

I hope that those of you that celebrate Easter have a wonderful day!!!

If you are joining in on Show and Tell Friday, please remember that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden. Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate. If you would like to join in, please enter your name and leave your exact Show and Tell blog post link, not just your blog link and as a common courtesy link back to my blog. If your link has been removed, please re-read over the guidelines before re-posting, or e-mail me with any questions.

Thank to all of you that join in every week

Although none of us can know exactly how you feel, because grief is so individual and personal, "loss triggers memory of loss." The older we get, many of us lose more people than we gain in our lives...and it hurts. We remember the pain, so we can feel some of yours. It all comes rushing back. The holidays are pretty raw the first time you're without someone who's always been a part of them. I definitely recall being absolutely unable to decorate the Christmas tree or listen to a carol...me, the quintessential lover of anything yule-related. There was a time when carols would play at lunch in the office (not so much these days, of course)...and I'd have to make a quick exit. A co-worker looked at me with such a wide-eyed wonder and compassion, saying "darling, don't you know, it's the angels singing" and, whew, did that open up the floodgates.

But it's good and I'm sure comforting amid the heartache, that you have wonderful memories of your mother, untainted by anything unpleasant. Take that and run with it, remembering every Happy Easter you shared with her. It's frustrating...because you want her instead of memories of her...but hold onto anything that helps. The structure of work and routine is sometimes a godsend in the rough cycle of grief.

Thank you for thinking of your blogger friends through your tears. Your blog is such a weekly treat. Sending you and your dad "healing wishes and (chocolate) bunny kisses" as April yields to May and time keeps us marching on.

Cindy I totally understand and I do know where you are coming from.
Since I lost my only sibling in Feb. it has been hard. She was not only was my sis but my best friend.
Our interest was the same sewing and crochet. There has been so many
times I have thought of calling her to ask her a sewing question.
It will take time. I still miss my mom and she has been gone for 17 yr., dad too and he's been gone for 22. You were lucky to have your mom for that long. I am still praying for you.

My Easter lovelies are temporarily packed away during painfully-slow remodeling so, if I can't enjoy my own right now, at least I can indulge in looking at yours. Such pretty tablescapes; you've got the touch, but we all know that!

A question maybe you could sometime expand on: I live in earthquake "country" like you; do you go to great lengths to protect a lot of your breakables on display with products like museum wax ("Quake Hold") or do you just take chances? The products really work, but I've had a problem with gel or putty adhering so well, that I can't then lift up the item again without fear of breaking it or damaging the surface upon which it sits (wood surface is the worst; glass, the best; and it can stain fabric). I had a cousin who lost everything in her china hutch to the Northridge quake...I mean, every single piece of cut glass, on the floor, shattered...and a friend in Santa Barbara/Goleta, many years ago now, also lost the entire contents of a curio cabinet, packed full of irreplaceables. Somebody else I knew had their china cupboard bolted to the wall but its glass shelves collapsed in a quake; of course, in a case like that, what can you do.

Mom has now stashed away most of the fragile collectibles she's enjoyed having out over the years, wanting to protect family "heirlooms"...and it's just no way to live. We save and collect for a reason, because it makes us happy to see and admire and honor our girly things, right? Again, what do YOU do...you've got a lot of treasures, not just to dust, but to keep safe!
