Show and Tell Friday!

Pin It Now!

This time of year, right after the holidays, my mind is on Spring!  Luckily for me, it starts looking a little like Spring around here in Northern California by the end of February! That's when the daffodils start blooming!  For now, the anticipation of Spring is all I have!  My garden now, in the dead of winter, does not look anything like these photos from previous years but I'm thinking about what I want to plant when the weather gets warmer and feel inspired just looking at these!

Are you dreaming of Spring too?

I'm dreaming of cutting flowers to bring in my home.

I hope you enjoyed this little escape from winter to Spring/Summer for Show and Tell today!

If you are joining in on Show and Tell Friday, please remember that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden. Please read the Show and Tell Guidelines for step-by-step instructions on how to participate. If you would like to join in, please enter your name and leave your exact Show and Tell blog post link, not just your blog link and as a common courtesy link back to my blog. If your link has been removed, please re-read over the guidelines before re-posting, or e-mail me with any questions.

Thank to all of you that join in every week!

I'm linking up to Cottage Flora Thursdays this week!

I am SOOO jealous. Our winter is full force and we won't see green until well into April...maybe even May. I am a warm-weather flower loving kinda gal...and this just GETS to me to have all this ice and snow!

Your "tour" was beautiful...guess I will just have to live vicariously through you! Hugs-Diana

Cindy, I'm dreaming of spring bulbs in bloom. We are expecting a severe freeze this next week, so guess my garden will look pretty bleak after that. TX has pretty mild winters, but the occasional deep freeze stops for a visit, leaving ruin behind. Thanks for sharing all your lovely flowers. ~ Sarah

Lovely pics, but I'm not quite ready for spring. It's been super cold, but we really need some snow here in Maryland!

Sonnet 98

by William Shakespeare (1609)

From you have I been absent in the spring

When proud-pied April, dress’d in all his trim,

Hath put a spirit of youth in every thing,

That heavy Saturn laugh’d and leap’d with him.

Yet nor the lays of birds, nor the sweet smell

Of different flowers in odour and in hue,

Could make me any summer’s story tell,

Or from their proud lap pluck them where they grew:

Nor did I wonder at the lily’s white,

Nor praise the deep vermilion in the rose;

They were but sweet, but figures of delight,

Drawn after you, you pattern of all those.

Yet seem’d it winter still, and you away,

As with your shadow I with these did play.

OH CINDY! Thank you so much for posting this. Lord knows I need that. I'm still new out here in the desert and although it's really interesting to see all the new and a different plant life there is out here. I miss color. There really isn't much color out here. Just a whole lot of beige! BLAAH! Thanks again and thanks for hosting too! :)

Thank you Cindy for a peek at springtime. I, too, live in N. Calif but in the mountains so spring is a bit too far off for my taste. But I live just an hour away from the San Joaquin valley and plan on taking a drive down in Feb just to see the almond trees in bloom. That always gives me a lift and lets me know that Spring is on it's way. Today has been set aside to start a bunch of my new plants for my garden this summer. I have planned on blogging it this next week, watching my seedlings grow helps the drab winter days fly by.

Breathtaking photos Cindy! You've got me dreaming of spring for sure! I do love bringing fresh cut flowers in from the backyard! What a blessing! Have a wonderful weekend!

Funny - I was just looking at another blog where the woman was talking about Spring and posting pictures of her outdoor gardens from last year! I think we're ALL dreaming of Spring! You're lucky you live in an area where you see signs of Spring in February. I'm in northern IL where we don't see signs of Spring until late March/early April.

Hi Cindy, Well, like you, we don't have much of a winter. I live in the Sam Houston National Forest just north of Houston, Tx. Our winters are very mild and the planting season starts in January! I'm a transplanted 'Dallas-ite' and somehow, even after 12 years, I just can't seem to get on the schedule for gardening here. I keep wanting to wait until March or April. By then my neighbors' gardens are just amazing! Sigh..

Anyway, I love your beautiful photos! I love California too. I lived there for a year of college. Winter is just amazing there!!

Funny, we must be on the same wavelength and I just posted about curing the winter-time blues..not for my sake, but for all my readers who seem to be buried in snow. :o)

Lovely post!

Hi Cindy... pretty post. I too am thinking of spring... I live in Arizona and we get Spring early too. I remember last year you posted that lilac post and I loved it! Then wandering through Lowes I saw a lilac plant for MY area too! So I bought it and I have been nursing it for months! We had hard 3 day freeze here in Phoenix but I brought it under the patio... But even with most of my plants covered my plants are pretty brown and hopeless :( I hope the lilac makes it! It looks a little disgruntled!
