Beach House Dreaming!

Pin It Now!

If you read my blog regularly you know I'm always dreaming of having my own beach house.  I live 30 minutes from the beach now, which isn't bad but I would love to be walking distance away!  Here are some beautiful beach home inspiration photos...

I found this photo below on another blog and they said it was from Coastal Living but I couldn't find it on their website. I really wanted to know more about this beautiful room, like is it on the east coast or the west coast! I'm totally in love with this room! I could move right in!

Source: Pottery Barn

I saw these beautiful oyster bowls online at Pottery Barn.  They remind me of the ones I bought last year. Mine were a much better deal though... I got 11 of them for $15 and these are selling for $16 for one!  I do love the clear better though!  You may remember mine below...

You can see the rest of the photos from that post... just click here.

Since I have a lot of new readers I thought I would also put up my little movie I made on my mac.  I called it "Dreaming of a Beach Home". I used photos of my home and beach photos to give the illusion that I'm living closer to the beach.  Yep...I know I'm a little obsessed! haha

I watched your video...very beautiful! I feel the same way! I am drawn to the sea! It's hard to describe how different I feel near the ocean. Hope our dreams come true some day. We are both fortunate to live close enough to visit...often! ♥

I love the little pops of blue and pink in the one pic showing the bookcase. How beautiful. Thanks for giving a pre view of your "future" beach cottage. And making me want a sunny beach day now.

Hi Cindy. The white room from Coastal Living is gorgeous! Also, I stopped by Pottery Barn the other day (not my favorite store, though). But they had the most gorgeous displays with seashells and raffia woven tablecloth, cloches and starfish, mercury glass... you know the drill. This post reminded me of that display, which I totally loved.

Also, if you have a chance, please stop by my blog. I have issued a designer challenge. This shoudl be fun.

Cindy,
You have a great eye!! So good in fact, you have picked out the same photo taken from a different angle. Your number two photo is that room you are in love with. Isn't it? The chairs, the pottery, the chandelier, and the beams in the ceiling. If I could just see that rug. I am in love with this look too. Thanks for posting such lovely photos.

I LOVE those clear shell bowls from Pottery Barn. I may have to indulge. And that table display with the linen runner with the beaded shells was yummy! I also loved the candles with the shells in the bottom. Thanks for sharing. Charlene

Oh my, these beach homes are georgeous! In the UK we have beach huts - which are very small(but very expensive) about 8 feet x 6 feet, so even with a fantastic imagination and budget could NEVER look that fantastic!

Ahh . . . I need to play Lotto so I can have a beach house. I have a beach room in my home and although I live a couple of miles from the beach, I am not on it :)

Cindy - That's totally CRAZY!!! You are living in a dream world. This is so like something I would do. I used to live about 5 hours from the beach...which was too far but I could there occasionally. Then I ended up back in Oklahoma, days away from the nearest Ocean. When I first moved back here, I would pretend that the sound of the wind blowing across the plains was really the sound of the ocean.

And now in my wonderful neighborhood on certain days you can slightly hear highway traffic in my backyard during rush hour....if I'm home... I pretend it's the ocean I hear instead of traffic noise. Cars whooshing become waves crashing.

I'm all about living in a fantasy world. Truthfully, I'm writing this from a prison cell and all of this is a figment of my imagination.

Keep pretending....

Cindy,

I'm not sure where that Coastal Living house is but it reminds me of Jane Coslick's designs. She renovates beach houses on Tybee Island, GA (near Savannah) and having stayed in one, I can tell you they are incredible. When I grow up, I want to be her. Can it get any better than turning run down beach houses into adorable cottages? Her website is www.janecoslick.com and you can rent some of her restorations at www.mermaidcottages.com.

I love the video and the photos of the homes are beautiful ! I have a great beach house in Fl for sale...if you don't mind the $1000 monthly wind insurance, constant threat of hurricanes, incredible and constant maintenance, replacing car parts yearly due to rust, hope you don't mind painting, because you will have to do it every year, ect. Here is the post on our beach house. I still love the beach as long as I am just renting someone elses house. http://nominimalisthere.blogspot.com/2010/03/beach-house-review.html

I loved the video. We just returned from a vacation in Florida and we LOVE the ocean and beaches! You are so fortunate to live nearby! I brought home a lot of "beach stuff" to decorate with so your photos inspired me! sandy

Love this post Cindy! I am digging the oyster plates in the hutch. I just saw a real clam shell about the size of the clam bowls of yours and Pottery Barn's. The real clam was $16. It seems like nature should be more than the price of a acrylic one, etc.

I've been lustin after this and telling myself I don't need it:
http://www.potterybarn.com/products/under-the-sea-serving-pieces/popup/more-views.html

I too want to go back to live by the ocean. I miss it when I really need to think deeply. I get your longing. I have it also.

Okay, dang, I just burned our brocolli thinking about beach houses.

Had to post twice because I finally played the video and loved it. Loved the Pacific Grove beach photos, Cindy and that you put Lovers Point in there. We have to tell Sherry since we are Cali girls, that you don't have to risk hurricanes to live by the beach in California. But you do have to put up with colder water. But you get the beauty and not the hurricanes. You do get the rust though. In Carmel a lot of the beach houses are stone houses (you don't have to paint. There is one Carmel stone house that is so stunning I'll have to blog about it.

Sorry, I have it bad:}

I swear I could smell the salt breeze blowing through your living room. You home certainly captures the essence of being right on the beach. You might not like it so much when you are constantly vacumning sand all the time.

Hi Cindy,

Your video is lovely - I, too, dream of a home at the beach. I can't imagine anything better than sleeping to the sound of waves and taking a walk on the beach every morning. I know that when I go back to San Diego, as I am doing in a few days for work, I go to the beach and feel my shoulders drop. All stress seems to melt away.

I so hope you get your dream someday.

Boy would I love that too! I don't live near the coast, I'm in WI, but I do live in a lake town. I am walking distance to the lake, but right across the street are all the lake homes. I would LOVE to have one someday, but I don't want the property taxes that go along with it :-P

I am a new reader of your blog and I just want to say how much I enjoy reading about you, your home, and all your little treasures that you find! I live in Minnesota...far away from the coasts but I do dream of having a beach cottage someday in Maine! I love your garden and in about 3 weeks we will be able to plant again and see blooms too!

Your photographs and video just took me on a much needed mini-vacation to the beach! I, too, could be happy as a clam in a beach house. May your dream come true.

Dear Miss Cindy,

Did you update your video? It's wonderful. One certainly gets the impression you are right on the waves, darlin'. A girl's gotta hold on to those dreams. It's how we keep moving forward. I was checking in to see if you had done any updates on your room re-do.

Just lovely!! :)

You could have fooled me Cindy! With the sounds of the ocean and the music ...I felt like I was at the beach! I recognized one of the scenes at the beach from Carmel. It looked like the point where the road turns on an abrupt curve.

Loved it!

I wish I were at the beach; get me out of this desert! LOL.
