Visiting my son

Pin It Now!

After I left the Sacramento Antique Faire last Sunday I stopped by to visit my son, Vince and his girlfriend, Margot at college. He goes to school at UC Davis. There are a lot of adorable homes there and he had been telling me about a block of homes he knew I would love so after lunch we parked the car and walked around the block to look at them.
I can just imagine how beautiful this street looks when the trees are full of leaves...

This was my favorite house...

I hope you enjoyed your walk around the block with me!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Cindy, you were in my neck of the woods! The next time you visit your son, head over to Woodland (about 15 minutes away) and shop at Yolo Hospice Thrift Store, 607 Main St. The best! Ask for me, (I work there) I know where all the good vintage linens are! We also have huge areas of old homes that having been meticulously restored. Cheryl in California

I love when you stumble upon a neighborhood and all the houses are different.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy some time with your son.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Love of little tour of the Davis area. My niece goes to school there, so it was nice to see what the houses looked like. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh...I love that area!! I live in the foothills, and Sac is my closest "real" place to shop. I think I even recognized one of the houses. And YES, when the leaves are full, it's like a canopy overhead. So pretty!! Thanks for sharing.

Cindy, I saw the link to your post about the HGTV DH. A friend and I toured it last week. It is wonderful and in a beautiful neighborhood. It does have your name on it. You could do wonders for the decor inside. Even though it is tasefully decorated, it doesn't really go with the style of house. Loved Sonoma. Sunday night is the givaway show. I entered everyday, but if I don't win I hope you do.

What a lovely tour. I so enjoyed seeing green grass again (in Indiana it's still 30 degrees)! My favorite was the house with the cobblestone path leading to the front door. So inviting. :)

I thought, after I saw the first picture that you finally got your own house..a gift of a too rich person that does appreciate your talents....it would fit just right all around your wonderful treasures....

Oh my, yes, I could live on that street! Love the houses. Would love a peek inside too. My hubby wonders about me when we go for walks in the neighbourhoods and I'm craning my neck to catch glimpses of living rooms as we walk past.

That's the fun part of walks, isn't it?

That looks like such a peaceful street to live on. I loved the terra-cotta roof tiles! I too could picture you decorating any one of these charming homes and making them stand out and look even more charming and inviting.

Hi Cindy! I did enjoy the walk as well! I too love the little brick cottage; reminds me of a "secret garden" cottage; can't you just imagine the inside! I'm way behind on my visits but I adore that chintz platter you picked up! I've always loved that pattern since I first saw it in a Romantic Homes issue where the woman had hundreds of pieces! Just beautiful and $22! Wow Glad you had a great visit with your son and fun at the Fair! Have a Fun weekend as well! - Sincerely, Jeannette

Fun walk, thanks for taking us.
I know I like to even drive home sometimes through neighborhoods like these just to see the great old homes etc.
Some great ones in my home town of Walla Walla too.
My mom just sent me a local mag from there that features Bat Man's childhood home and how it was restore.

What I liked about the walk and seeing all the homes, is that they are old and still around!
Old homes around here get torn down and new modern ones go up.
Thanks for sharing.

Cindy,
I didn't know your son went to UC Davis! What a great school, and in such a unique area. You must be so proud. Hope you are doing fantastic! Arden started pre-school this week and it has been a rough transition for her. I have not had much time to update my page lately. Your page is wonderful, like always.

You've been an inspiration! Will add to my photo album pictures of the many wonderful houses right in my own home town - I've have always taken pics of homes "of note" while traveling, but there are lots of favorites right here that should be captured as well. Thanks for the virtual "walk around the block"! Hugs, Sharon

DEAR CINDY,
THANK YOU FOR TAKING US ALONG THIS TRIP WITH YOU.
THE VERY, VERY FIRST HOUSE LOOKS LIKE FRED McMURRAY'S HOUSE OF MY THREE SONS...I LOVED THAT SHOW
I LOVED THE GREY AND WHITE HOUSE THAT WAS DIRECTLY ABOVE THE HOUSE YOU SAID WAS YOUR FAVORITE
YOUR SON HAS A GOOD EYE AND TAKES AFTER HIS MOTHER....MOST COLLEGE STUDENTS DON'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT HOUSES UNLESS THEY ARE AN ADULT THAT WENT BACK TO SCHOOL OR THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A HOUSE THAT A FRIEND LIVES OR IS STAYING AT.
THAT IS A UNIQUE NEIGHBORHOOD AND I KNOW SO VERY BEAUTIFUL WHEN EVERYTHING IS IN BLOOM.

The house in the 5th photo down is nearly exactly like the first house my husband and I owned in Long Beach CA. Those houses were built in the 20s, all over CA. The inside walls were thick and had niches everywhere. It was such a charming home! In fact, the first time my mom came to see it she knew the floorplan before she even went in, bcause she too lived in a house just like it as a little girl. ::Jill
