Decorating with Lace

Pin It Now!

I love lace, preferably vintage lace!!! I have it all over my home...

Lace napkins and hankies tucked here and there...
Hand crocheted lace doilies...
Even the toilet looks better with a little lace...

Vintage lace table cloths... Hanging from shelves...

Pillows and pillowcases...

Lampshades...
Aprons...

Curtains...

I love them so much that I don't even mind all the hand washing and ironing...

Cindy, I'm a lace lover too. Your home is so soft and elegant looking and I just love the lace panel pulled back in your kitchen doorway! What a great shot too. Your attention to the little details like peeks of lace here and there make your pretty home so romantic! Suesue

We should call you Lacey.

My love of lace as well can be found everywhere in my house. Batten, fine, you name it I love it. I too have lace on my toilet on the lid.

Do you remember the vinyl lace tablecloths ?
I found one at a thrift shop one day, it reminded me of one my mother use to put on the dining table. My sister took the one she had, and I was lucky enough to find one for myself.

It's cooler today !!! started out in the 60's and is still in the high 60's.

Lovely lace. I've been able to pick up a few pieces at estate auctions in our area. I don't ever get anything too fancy-it goes for too much! Thanks for sharing some of our lace with us!

I love lace too. I have many family pieces from the early 1800's forward.
Monograms too. Just love your collection. Are any family heirlooms?
Just the thought that the family held them or used them makes them special.

Cindy, I LOVE lacy linens! You have to be the best at presenting them. Thanks for the inspirational photos.

Wow! You do have some lace, girl. I love the lace, I just wouldn't like washing, starching and ironing it. I guess you could make a day of it every so often, though.

Your blog is such an inspiration to me. I'm in an apartment in So. Cal, but moving back to Colorado and buying a house! Yay! I can't wait to decorate it.

You can be sure I'll be looking to your blog for inspiration!

So beautiful, Cindy! Thanks for showing your lovely lace collection. How do you care for old lace? Do you wash it in something particular? It's all so WHITE, not the aged ivory or tan you sometimes see.

Stacey - I usually try to buy pieces that aren't too yellowed and I soak them in Oxy Clean. It works great!

Hi Cindy! I love all of your lacey things! Lace just goes so well with your romantic decorating style! I have lots of lace too, but this past spring I put most of it away. I wanted to do something different for a while. But I still go and open the drawer where it all is and thumb through all the pretties now and then.

Love the lace for toilet! You make it all sooo pretty!

Cindy, I love all your lace...and such a variety. I have to ask. Is that a teapot on your toilet? What a hoot. I love teapots and have them all over, but never thought of putting one on the toilet!

Years ago I found plastic lace trim at Wal Mart which I edged all of the shelves on my kitchen cabinets. When you open the cabinet door it looks like lace is hanging over the edges of the shelves. My latest find was a large piece tatted lace at Goodwill for just 1.99. It had a couple of stains, but I was able to get it clean.

Cindy said...

Anonymous: No it's not a teapot, it looks more like a watering can. I would probably put a teapot there though! LOL

I love all your lace, but the best idea I've seen in a long time, is the lace on the toilet tank. I'm so going to do that in my guest bathroom.

How did you do that lampshade. Could you post a picture of the whole lamp.

Also, I don't recall seeing that mantle before. It's a pretty shade of blue.

Your decorating is ALWAYS amazing.

elaine: Here is a post I did on the lampshade awhile ago: http://romantichome.blogspot.com/2008/01/inexpensive-lamp-makeover.html

You're the second person that mentioned the mantle..It's actually an old window frame with a mirror in it. I used to have it in my dining room but now it's in my bedroom. You can see it here; http://romantichome.blogspot.com/2007/12/groupings.html

Hi Cindy,

I'm a die-hard doiley decorator and love the look of your lucious laced home.

By the way... I've scoured and searched for the old blog post regarding your ironing board cover but I can't seem to find it. I think the cover must be hiding under cover! lol. I kind of recall that it was a pattern of violets or something pretty like that. I want to get one just like it and the lavender water too now!

Also- May I ask how you keep the cover from getting scorched while ironing???

Thanks!

Cindy~

I think that life would be lovelier with lace. Growing up there was always lace. Doilies, dresser scarves, etc. I had forgotten all of that until seeing this. Great post.

Oh how beautiful! I love lace too, especially Battenburg lace. It adds such a pretty feminine touch. I had to laugh at the lace on the toilet tank. I seriously love it, but can just picture my rowdy boys somehow dislodging it and accidentally flushing it down the stool!

You have the kind of home that makes me want to take my shoes off and sink into all the loveliness!
