I think if I didn't have blue in my home I would probably decorate with black and white. I really love the look of black and white with a little yellow like these Villeroy & Bach "Audun" dinnerware. I think these lined up in a black hutch would be so beautiful! This is one of my favorite bathrooms which I found on Rate My Space. Which reminds me...I'm on 1 week from today!!!! Can you believe that it's finally almost here! YAY!!!
The yellow in this room below is a little bright for my taste but I love the room. I would just tone down the color on the walls a bit!
Photo: www.bhg.comI love how this mirror with the shutters looks like a doorway. It really opens up the room! I would love to recreate this somewhere in my home. It's from Ballard Designs and it's $499.00 so it's out of my price range!

I love black and white too! I used it a lot more when I was younger. Now I used pink and green, but I still have touches of black.
My wedding in 1977 was black and white with yellow accents.
I love that mirror! Wow... In fact I love Ballard.

I love the print on those dishes.
I almost wish I had gold in my home, b/c my grandmother offered me her "autumn gold" china the other day and I just hated to see it collect dust! :(
As for the 'shutter' I would think that should be pretty easily mimmicked...and I bet if you scour craigslist you might find what you need!
Have a wonderfuly day....hope your b'day was great yesterday!
Beautiful!! Those are my favorite decorating colors. My home is done is black/white/yellow with touches of red here and there. Very French Country - I love that color scheme!!
Have a great day!

Black and white too are a favorite. I have dinner plates that are black and white.
If I could I'd change things around every year with different things, styles and color i'd do it. Just can't afford to do that. But I can dream......

i love that china you posted. love, love, love the color combination. i also love ballard but alas, i can't afford their stuff right now.
BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I love black as an accent color. I did my office in taupe and black with touches of pink. It is very romantic!
I will be watching for you!

Yes you are! Just one week away! Funny you should mention it because just today I checked my TiVo to make sure it was scheduled to record & to make sure there was nothing else recording at that time that would bump it off the list (too many family members wanting too many things recorded...becomes World War TiVo around here sometimes LOL)

Hi Cindy,
I am doing my bedroom black and white. I just finish painting a hutch black and I put my white linen in it. I need to do anther coat of paint it's not quite the way I want it. I love the simplicity of the last picture.
Have a great day,
ginger
I love black and white paired with red. I've not tried yellow with it but it is beautiful in your photos.
Ballard has some fabulous things and when they have a sale, they usually have a good one.
Oh the shutter mirror is so cool! I would love to put one of those in a few corners of our house =) Blessings... Polly
I have that same bathroom saved in my favorites! :)
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CINDY!
Good on you for the weight loss.
I too love black and white, the introduction of the soft yellow gives it a very elegant feel
I like black also. I just recently put alot of black in my bathroom .
I swear Cindy I think we are on the same wave length!LOL. I was going through my mags today because I'm trying to figure out how to decorate my guest house I have and I found a black and white house that I really love, although I think I would add some robins egg blue in the mix, I even went shopping to find b/w toile today. How funny you should post about it tonight. I hope you enjoyed your birthday!!
Hugs~Kelly
I love the colors! Very elegant! And after I looked at the pic of the dining room (with the bright walls) I began to really like the walls, I really like the wide stripes on the wall - if you look closely you can see the different tones of yellow. And I absolutely love the shutter mirror!!!! Happy belated birthday, hope you had a good one.

Black and white is beatiful.
I absolutely fell high over heels in love with that mirror. Love it!
I have put shutters on the inside of our windows instead of on the outside, ha ha.
Have a great day!

The black shutters are so french fabulous! I might give up a kidney for those. Fabullous Blog! Love it!
I agree. I love black and white. You could inject just about any pop of color and have a really great look.
Black and white looks very nice. I'm not too fond of that Villeroy&Boch though, it's a bit too much.
Hope you have a good day.

hi , I have that picture with the dining room in a decrating book i have had for a few years. It was always one of my favorites. And that mirror a couple years ago i saw one exactly like that in a model home and I loved it and asked the decorator if I could buy it. Well it was too much so i did not, but I have always looked for one like that. Almost thought of taking a mirror and adding shutters to it myself, just never did it. Ballard designs is a great inspiration when decorating and looking for ideas. mishelle
Oh, I have those dishes and I love them, but I have found that people either love them or hate them. Most of the time the men like them better than the gals LOL
Love that french bath. Her entire home is awesome.Great article as always...Ann
i just painted a wall in my large dining area a cottagey yellow, it's really pretty and charming, and surprising to me, since i'm a new yellow convert. never used to like it!
and bandw is awesome, totally agree. i'm on the lookout for a sofa or chair that has bandw pattern, and there is bandw wallpaper i want.
It is a great combination.
I will be sure to look for the program, thanks for the reminder!
