The Ainsley House

Pin It Now!

Around the corner from the the beautiful shop I showed you yesterday is the Ainsley House. It's home to the Campbell Historical Museum. I wanted to take the tour to show you the inside, which still has some of the original furniture from the 1930s but I just missed the last tour on Saturday. I had planned to go back on Sunday but I was too busy cleaning my apartment and doing laundry so I never made it! I've never been inside so I really need to make time to do this.  In the summer they have live music concerts on the front lawn.  Click here to see how crowded it gets!
This home was moved from it's original location. Guess what is sitting on that lot now? eBay's Headquarters! That's Silicon Valley!!!
Since I'm sharing some of the history of my city, here is an interesting bit of trivia. Fruit Cocktail was invented in Campbell! Canning was a huge industry here back in the day. Even as a child, I remember canneries and orchards everywhere. There are little remnants of it here and there. In the photo below you'll see the Campbell water tower. I remember seeing many of these around when I was a kid. I think this may be one of the few left.
I have to share something with you! I got an amazing opportunity so please visit my product review page to read more about it (Click here to see) You won't believe this!!! This really has been a great year for me!

Hi Cindy,
I used to drive by the Ainsley Mansion with my grandma (in the olden days!). Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories. It's looking beautiful these days. I'm surprised they moved it, but happy it's being appreciated by many. I remember the canneries too and all the orchards. There used to be five houses on our block, then orchards all around the other side. Love the picture of the water tower in downtown Campbell too!
Happy day,
xo~Tracie

I do remember canneries. My Aunt worked in one in the San Leandro/Hayward area. We went to visit her there often. It was a huge factory.

We just don't have much history in this town. The dynamite factory blew up years ago, so there went a piece of history. Hercules, just isn't what it use to be.

We went to pick peaches when we were kids along with grapes in places. You hardly get to do that much anymore. I think we all need to get back to planting out own fruit baring trees again, it would save money in the long run with all the high prices.

Ciao

Afternoon, Cindy! First of all, I want to comment on you being chosen to shop! What a lucky, fortunate gal you are and oh, what beautiful things you bought. I dearly love those goblets. They're beautiful!

Now, on to that old house. It's amazing! The roof line looks like some of the houses in Carmel. I would love touring it, too! What a wonderful area you live in. My mother used to make a fruit cocktail cake when I was a little girl. Haven't thot about that in years! Thanks for reminding me.
Be a sweetie and enjoy all your new pretties!

This place is beautiful inside, from what I remember. My best friend at the time was married here in the garden, and the bridal party, I was maid of honor, were allowed to go upstairs for pictures and it was really pretty! I hope you get to go back for the tour soon!!

Hugs,
Michele
