Successful Thrifting!

Pin It Now!

I love when I go to a thrift store and walk out with things that I could have bought at an antique store for a lot more money. I found both these items at The Salvation Army and I think they were about $5.00 each. Look at the beautiful hand painted berries on this vase. The colors are just amazing!
I also found this covered dish. The shell-shaped handles are perfect for my shell themed table. Look at the little beaded detail around the edges. I just fell in love with this!
There are so many times I go to the thrift store and walk out empty handed but it always calls me back because I know there can be treasures in there at any time! It's the thrill of the hunt for those treasures that I love!

Do you get most of your glass pretties at the thrift shops? Or eBay? I've been trying my hand at eBay lately. But the shipping... You have lovely treasures. And such a good eye for detail!

Cindy,

Maybe the same person that donated the table and chairs, is the same person that owned the vase and bowl. Do, you ever wonder that ?
I have at times wonder who owned it and why they got rid of such lovely things.

Hi Cindy! I see you are having a good week - it's only Wednesday too! I Love what you found especially the white covered tureen. There is a new consignment shop I spotted next town over and as I was driving by I caught a glimpse of something white in the window. I have to go back before it is too late! Enjoy the rest of your week - can't wait to see what else you find!-Jeannette

Ooohhh thrifting is my passion! what fabulous finds! The berries look luscious! And the shell handles are perfect! One never knows when one will find a treasure. That's why I get a pang of apprehension whenever I don't stop for a garage sale or thrift store....What if I missed a perfect treasure? Oh horrors! Hehehe! But every once in a while "pay dirt!" Whoohoo! And I'm hooked! Vanna

Hi Cindy!
I love your thrift store finds. The vase is really sweet and will look great with both your yellow and/or your blue walls. You are a very lucky girl to have such a variety of antique and thrift stores conveniently available.I really admire that you know exactly what you like and pull it all together so well. I'm still getting caught up on your older blogs and I plan on trying the Molasses cookie recipe ~ I'll let you know how I like them.

You did real well, girlfriend!! Hard to believe that people don't want this stuff anymore.

Love both your finds! I never find such incredible bargains at thrift stores, usually I just find strange castoff tupperware, wonky baskets, and bric-a-brac.

You're so lucky. Our Salvation Army is loaded with junk. It's rare to find anything nice, and then it's priced high. That bowl would be at least $30, here. It would be tagged as a "collectible".
