Sweet Cherub

Pin It Now!

I found this sweet cherub at The Salvation Army for $6.99. I was so excited when I found him so I could give him the shabby chic look. With some white paint and glazing he now looks at home in my home. I put him below a mirror on my stairway. I moved the smaller cherub planter I had there further up the staircase. Mirrors and cherubs...I just love how they look together!

Below is the before picture. It was raining when I was painting him under my carport yesterday and I'm sure my neighbors were thinking "there she goes again with that white spray paint!"

You do an awesome job. You should do some restoration work for a living. God Bless!

Great job! Looks awsome. Amazing what alittle paint will do.I wonder will I ever park in my carport again or should it be a painting studio?=)

Hi Cindy! I love your new cherub, it's beautiful!
Since we live in the Seattle area, I have spent many times spray painting undercover in the rain. My uncle who lives next door tells me that my house could stand on paint alone cuz I'm always painting something inside it, or for it. :o)

Cindy, sometimes when I see things that you have 'remade' it reminds me of the Trash to Treasures part of Design on a Dime on HGTV and I wish I had the money so I could open a store and let you stock the shelves - I know we would have people lining up at the door just waiting to get in...

Hi Cindy,
I can't believe they made you pay the parking when half the vendors weren't even there.
I love the cherub!! Amazing what white paint and glaze does.
It looks great in your home.

You find some of the most remarkable things and turn them into treasures. I wish I had that knack...You know what they say.."One man's trash, another man's treasure"... I'm going to start "looking harder" when I go to places like that...And for things that are on the curb!!!

Have a great day...

Great find Cindy! I had found some great cherubs from my thrift shop a while back. When I was bringing them into the house, I dropped the bag. :( they were only wrapped in newspaper. I planned to paint them white also. I was so disappointed.
Do you paint them first, then glaze?

Hi Cindy,
Cherubs are my favorite little guys. I went to Home Goods a few days ago, and found a cherub that I can either hang or stand up on a plate stand. I have a few others around the house.
Seeing potential in something you find it so exciting.

It looks great- I probably would have looked right past that at the thrift store! You definitely have "vision"!
I often wonder what my neighbors think when they see me outside painting AGAIN! I know one of them asked my hubby if I refurbished furniture for a living... I must be out there a lot!

Hi Cindy,
Love your cherub. Wow, what a difference. You are giving me some ideals! What paint do you use and recommend? Thanks, Rosemary~

He is lovely. And a deal at 6.99!! I sometimes see my neighbors rolling their eyes at me when I am painting too!!! Funny how they are the first ones to grab something when I put it out to the road!!! ;))

Would you mind terribly posting the brands and colours of the paint and glaze? I have a plant pot that I would like to refinish, and what you have done with your cherub is perfect for my project.

I just LOVE your site, and I read it daily.

Hi, I've been a HUGE fan of yours since you first posted your beautiful home on RMS. Everything you do is soooo beautiful. Thanks for inspiring me! Today I made some of the paper roses with my daughter. Much easier than I thought and so realistic! I visit your blog almost every day, your vision and your home are awe inspiring. THANKS!!! ksarra

What a difference a little paint makes! I wish you would take a new picture of your mirrors. I would love to see how the wall looks, now.

Gosh, the white looks like it was always there.

Glad to know I'm not the only one, too, whose neighbors continually catch them spraypainting something. Spraypaint fumes = the smell of spring. :)

Well, it looks like the 'net ate my thank you. So, here we go again. I would like to say thank you for posting the instructions. I have done some furniture refinishing, and I plan to copy your all-white idea for my dining-room table and chairs. I have not done much in the way of other morphs, so your instructions are certainly appreciated. I have a lot to learn yet about how to redo an old copper plant pot, items in plastic, glazed pottery, etc. Your site has given me so many ideas for turning thrift shop items, and many of my own items that have seen better days, into "treasures". Does Martha Stewart know about you?

Geez this posting confuses me. That last thank you from anonymous was from me, Jay Jay.
