New Year Resolutions

Pin It Now!

Do you make New Year Resolutions? Last year mine was to make my bedroom more luxurious. Amazingly it was a New Years resolution I kept! I not only repainted my bedroom furniture but I bought myself a memory foam mattress pad (best thing I ever bought) and a down comforter. I've now had a year of very comfortable sleeping. This year I'm taking it one step further. I'm going to try to relax more and allow myself more leisure time. This is not going to be that easy because I usually get up on Saturday mornings, have my coffee and get busy cleaning house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, gardening, cooking meals, working on whatever current project I have going on and the next thing I know it's Sunday evening and I'm exhausted. I'm going to try to take more time to have breakfast in bed, read out on the patio or just take a walk once in awhile. Doesn't that sound like a good resolution. Much better than the "I'm going to lose weight" one.

The camellias in front of my apartment are blooming already. Isn't that shade of pink beautiful! (click on the photo above to smell them....just kidding but you can see them better if you click on the photo)

Oh Dear Cindy. . . I remember well your post about wishing for snow. Well, check out my post and you'll see SNOW here in Michigan. You are invited to visit. . . and don't forget to bring your snow shovel.

Blessings,

Cindy that is really a great resolution, actually the best that someone can do for himself. Somehow I never keep my resolutions, but maybe just because they are these types of "I am going to lose weight" resolutions.
I wish you a very Happy New Year and may your 2008 be fulfilling, wonderful and dreamy!

How pretty your bedroom is, and your white napkin. I have lived in my home for 17 years and still trying to decide what to do with my bedroom.( I have a hard time making decisions) But like you I would love to make more time for doing all of those things that you mentioned.

Mmmmmmm. Yes, I smell the pink camellias. . . When I see the photo of breakfast in bed, I can ALMOST smell them! I like your resolution. If we all did the same the world would be a better place (the dirty dishes and laundry would pile up, but we would stress less about it!) Cindy, I'm ready for Spring. Stop by and say hello when you get a minute!

I had a similar thought earlier, while looking at my newest issue of Victoria magazine that I haven't finished looking through and haven't picked up at all this past week --- I need to make more time in my life for quiet moments of beauty!!

Although I think your resolution is a marvelous one, somehow I don't see you as a sit-around-and-relax kind of woman. And I bet if you do sit down for a minute, your mind is still running a million miles a minute with creative ideas! Hope you are enjoying your vacation. BTW, your camellias are b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! So perfect, they almost don't look real. Wish I could smell them because I don't think I've ever smelled one before.

HI Cindy,
I love your resolution.. mine is to buy artwork from all my "idols"!
I have a thing about my weekends being for me to relax or play.. so I bust my butt all during the week so that i have very little left that I have to do on the weekends! I'm better at this in the brighter months though.. once it gets dark I dont want to work!

I love your chintz china cup and plate. Your setting is very inviting for relaxation. I get that way in my house sometimes..looks so cozy I'd rather just linger at home than go to work at the tv station.

I enjoy your blog. You should write a book!

Oh, you lucky person!! Here it's only grey, rainy days and no flower in sight. After this rainy December I wish that spring would come very quick next year.
I hope you'll have a Happy New Year and that 2008 will be whatever you wish for.

Hi Cindy I love visiting your blog just to see what lovely photo you will have! I think your new year's resolution is a good one. We all rush about far too much! We need to slow down and enjoy the journey. I love the color pink of the camelia's. Happy New Year. Rhondi

No kidding, you achieved your resolution. Your bedroom is dreamy!!!! I haven't thought of a resolution yet. I want to make one that will be good for everyone, not the usual lose weight, etc. (although I need that one!)... Such a good one you are making. Love those camelias.

Some of your photos are bjust breathtaking, and the tray of china and pampering things on your bed is no exception.

I guess my New Year's resolution is to get my abdominal wall back in shape so my lower back pain goes away.

I like yours better!

Cindy, we don't slow down enough these days to enjoy the simple things. We work so hard in our gardens that we cant enjoy the blooms, or the labor of the love we pour into our homes. Instead of enjoying our homes we plan trips away from it..LOL.. Anyway, thank you for reminding us to sit back and enjoy the simpler life...
Wishing you a Happy, healthy and blissfully relaxing new year!

Dear Cindy,

I just wanted to let you know that I've been "lurking/looking" at your blog for the last couple of weeks and have really enjoyed it!

I've been away from blogging for a bit but have launched a new blog for the new year. It is private so I'll send you an invitation. I hope that you can visit me sometime.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Oh Cindy, what gorgeous pictures! You have flowers blooming outside in December? I want to live there! I think your resolutions sound terrific -- much nicer than the "lose weight" one.

Wishing you a wonderful, bright and restful new year!

I wish I could smell those flowers as all mine are blanketed in snow for many more months. I love your resolution, may even "borrow" it for myself. Best wishes for the new year.

Julie said...

Humm - good luck with that one! I thrive on "the next project" so it is much easier for me to lose weight than to commit to being more sedentary!

You did an amazing job with your bedroom this year...but all the work you put into that room is a contradiction to your new years resolution!

I think your words are very wise, exactly what I had in mind this year, instead of setting big goals for myself I'm going to try and put some time aside to, as my horoscope said, smell the roses.
Happy New Year Cindy!!

My New Year's resolution for our home is to get our bedroom into shape. We have a large enough area for a little reading nook...but too much stuff. So I need to just dig in and weed out.
