What could this mean?

Pin It Now!

I just ordered this book from Amazon because this single mom on a budget could use some more spending money! I plan to go to estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets and find some nice treasures to sell! I'm not sure if I'll start my own website or use eBay so any suggestions would be helpful!

Sounds like a fabulous idea. I am sure that with all the gorgeous things you do what ever way you decide to go there is a huge market out here in Blogland.

YEAH.... YEAH... With your computer skills you will not have any problem doing a web site...its about time... I think you will do GREAT ...you already have a tremendous following. Who knows you might do so well you could do it full time and kiss that cubicle goodbye...

That sounds like a great idea. You are so creative. I may have to purchase one of these books for myself. I'm eligible to retire from my state job. I'm still working because I've been waiting to find something I can get excited about doing after I retire. Please keep us posted. I know I'd buy from you.

Hi Cindy, well I use ebay and have a website and I am finding for my antiques and collectables they sell heaps better on ebay. so I am just going to keep my website for my creative pieces from now on and the odd smaller antique. Because I need a fast turnover of stock for an income you cant fault ebay really. Besides the fees I look at as paying rent for a shop space anyway. hope this helps!

First get up before the birds and get to the yard sales to beat the competition! LOL
I use to sell a lot on eBay, and will probably start up again soon. It's a good way to make money, but it is time consuming when you have a full time job (which I do.) Sometimes listing can take most of your day if you have a lot of stuff!
What I do is figure out how I want to price item, (for Auction or Store. I mostly use Auction because if you have popular item, the bidders will bid it up and you can make some nice money. I take pictures, download to hard drive, and crop them so the item looks good in the picture. I find the best pictures sell more items. Then I list on Saturday or Sunday, with your listing program or use the one in eBay. I list for 7 days so the listing ends on the weekend. Then I try and wrap so nothing will break or get wet if it rains, box them up print out mailing labels slap them on and off they go.
Remember when pricing - eBay takes some of your money for their fees!
If you use eBay to host pictures they charge you for that too.
Good Luck!
I'd love to bid on your stuff I know it will be lovely. ~Laura

Hi Cindy,
Maybe you should try ebay first, then create a website.

I've been using ebay as well. It does take a long time to load pics and list auctions at first, but you get the hang of it after a while. The best auctions are 7 days starting and ending on a Sunday afternoon (you are on west coast so start/end your auction around 6-7pm west coast time (gives us east coast people a chance to bid at the last minute before bedtime!

Hi Cindy
I have been selling on ebay for over 4 years. I started a blog/website in order to pull away from ebay (and their outrageous fees). My website is on my blog! $8.95 a month! I am just now getting my website up but take a look...maybe it will help you with your decision.

Hi Cindy...I used to sell on eBay and still may in the future but I know it's not what it used to be...the fees are really high and now they are letting unregistered bidders buy I hear...you may try it and like it. I think I am going to just start a website and list my wares on my blog. I won't get the exposure that I got from eBay but I found I just do it as a Hobby...who knows....I think it depends on what you are selling and the market.
Good luck though!
Blessings,
Robin

Great idea Cindy casue you always find amazing things! I guess I would start by selling from my blog first to test the waters without investing in a website or you could do ebay. A weekend flea market on your blog would be fun!

No advice as I have never done anything like that, but I sincerely wish you the best of luck. I have no doubt that you will be a smashing success! You've got such a natural eye for treasures, and the talent to back it up. Can't wait to see the beautiful things you do in the future.

OK Cindy, I ordered the same book today. You have me curious. I've been saying for a good year now that I should start selling stuff on E-bay just to help downsize my house. It's amazing what you can collect in your life time. Keep up all the great creative work. I can't wait to see your table finished.

Hi Cindy
I think a website would work well for you as you already have an established name, to say the least!, maybe a bit of ebay as a backup for promotion but a website for sure is the way to go for you. It'll be a breeze for you as you have mastered photos, presentation and you know your way around the internet etc....you'll do so well I just know it. Please please if I can help in any way this end of the world let me know.
good on you and be patient as I think you realise, it takes time to set everything up
Gail xxx
p.s. I'm so excited for you.

I've had great luck buying things at local flea markets and goodwill and selling them on ebay! It was a big step for me to get into this computer thing, but now I also have my own etsy shop. Give ebay a try, I think you'll do well.

I would have to vote your own site or Etsy. I guess Ive just gotten a bit tired of all the hidden costs or should I say, rising costs of ebay. Your have such an eye for beauty. I'm sure wherever you decide to sell, you'll do great! Good Luck~ Darly

I have a little site linked to my blog. You can always just sell a few things from your blog to try it out. It still takes quite a bit of time, but it's fun too.
