Sounds like a good deal...

Pin It Now!

I found this antique chair on Craigslist for $35. I haven't actually got it yet though. He said it needs reupholstering and I'm not sure how much this will cost. It's still available but the owner is not available to show it to me until Thursday. My mind is dancing with ideas for fabrics...possibly toile? Maybe two or three different fabrics? So do you think I should buy it?

I just love that chair and I would most certainly buy it, if the prize is reasonable. I would love to have such a chair in my living room.
And Debbies kitchen is just great. Wish she can show us more of her home through you.
Hope you're having a good day.
Love Elzie

Cindy,
You could probably upholster this yourself...maybe have someone do a cover for the seat pillow (is it removable?). With the tack stripping on the inside and outside of the chair it should be pretty easy to pop the original off, cut a pattern from it, and tack new fabric on. Looks like a good deal!

I LOVE it!!! I sure wish we had such great deals like that where I live. We don't have a very big Craigs list selection here... I guess it really works great if you live in a big city, huh?

I would so grab that chair!
God bless,
Sallie

RUN, DON'T WALK and pay the guy the money and then run home before he changes his mind. Oh, it's a lovely chair. Looks as if you could use it just like it is for awhile...a pretty toss pillow in it and a soft, cream throw across the arm. I love it !

I say, go for it. It's a nice style and you could make it gorgeous!

I think it's a beauty. Does it really need covering? Looks like maybe the arms are all that is worn. The cushion looks like it may be down filled.

Oh, that chair is lovely. I would say get it and just keep the upholstery that's on it--it's so pretty! Even if it's a little worn, it just adds to the charm. As for having a chair upholstered--I've been told $300 or more, which is why I never go for projects like that. But I've often wanted to try it myself--although I've also heard it's difficult, dirty work. BUT, you rewired a chandelier, and I would have never tried that, so I say go for it! ~A :-)

I was thinking the same as some of the others here--it looks like the existing fabric is in pretty good shape and might be usable "as is" for a while. If not, I know you will come up with some creative solution. I think it's a steal of a deal!

Do you have a spot for it?
Will it replace an existing piece?
I had a wing back chair reupholstered a few years back and it cost me about 125.00 + fabric. I got the fabric at Joanns w/a coupon.
I think it's a beautiful chair and looks like you and your home.

Cindy,
It's so pretty. I would by it. I don't think it would be too much to redo.
Hope you get it.

Cindy this is so you. Buy it. You can reupholster it yourself. Just make sure it is sturdy and look under the chair when you see it.

If you Love it buy it! It is incredible and has great lines, as they say. Toile is classic, a 'forever' fabric.

I have a very similar one and am going to Re-Up in either a silk check or black/white toile. I know the living room curtains are going to be toile but I think the chair will only have toile for the arm rests.

SO many choices, can't wait to see what you do!

I vote 'Buy It'!
