At 8:04 pm tonight we were rockin' and rollin' here! We had a 5.6 earthquake! I was standing outside talking to my neighbor when we heard a weird noise, a rumbling and rattling loud noise. We both looked at each other and yelled "earthquake!" Before I could even think about it, I ran into the shaking house to grab my daughter and the dog...can't forget the dog! They were both running towards me as I opened the door. My chandelier was swaying back and forth. Luckily we didn't have any damage at all!
It's now been a little over an hour and I feel a little more at ease now that we haven't felt any aftershocks. I've lived here my whole life and they still scare me so much! Oh please, no more aftershocks while I'm sleeping tonight!

Wow I am glad to know that you, your daughter and the dog are all doing ok... how frightening that must have been!!...first fires then earthquakes!
I will keep my fingers crossed that there are no after shocks ...
JO

Sue
Oh Cindy,
It is a scary feeling and you can never get use to it. Natural disasters freak me out totally because there is noting you can do about it. I think you are so brave and I am glad that you and your family are fine.
I wish you a nice and happy Halloween without any shaking and after shocks.
Suzy
Oh my Cindy! I'm glad you are all ok and hope there's no after shocks! We have a severe storm warning with hail forecast for where I live, due to hit anytime now. What's going on with the weather?! Stay safe!
Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
So glad you're all OK. I have never been in an earthquake. It must be a really scary feeling. We have tornadoes here in the Midwest. I'm not sure what's worse.
Hi Cindy,
I am so glad you are o.k.! They must be so scary... be careful!!
By the way, happy halloween!!
Linda
Oh, my, so thankful all is ok there now. I know the quakes must be so scary. Out here in West Texas, it's tornadoes that we are all so afraid of.
Thankfulness and blessings,
bj
So glad all is well.........can't even imagine how scary that must be for everyone. Hope there will be no more excitement of that kind anytime soon!
OMG! That is sooo scary I'm glad you are all Ok! I can't even imagine! I'm glad you didn't suffer any damage to your beautiful home!
We had a few of those when we lived in Okinawa and once since we've lived in AZ about two years ago.
The terrible, yet funny thing about the one here in AZ was that we were watching an end of the world as we know it due to earthquakes kind of movie. The children did NOT find that amusing...LOL..
Glad you are all safe!
God bless,
Sallie
Cindy - glad you are ok! I moved out of Florida to avoid the hurricanes. We were in NC for about a month and we had an earthquake here that was 3.8! I was so suprised! I didn't realize NC had earthquakes!
Penny
ohmy, weren't you just saying something about fixing your chinas in case of an earthquake?
How scary!
I'm glad you and your daughter and little beau are doing ok.
Heavens! I am going to pray that there are not aftershocks... thank goodness you are ok!
I’m glad you’re all OK. How frightening that must have been!! Don’t let that stopped you from buying the beautiful antique chair you found on Craigslist… it’s awesome.
Love,
Cielo
Hi Cindy,
I'm glad that you are okay and that you had no damage. I'm down in So. Cal and we were in the heart of the 94 quake so I know just what you mean. We don't ever get used to them!
Hugs,
Dena
After I left my message I remembered a quote I read sometime ago from Ralph Emerson, and thought it was appropriate:
We learn geology the morning after the earthquake, on ghastly diagrams of cloven mountains, up heaved plains, and the dry bed of the sea.
I don't think I'd like to learn geology this way... je!
Have a good one.
Cielo
Heard it on the news Cindy!!I thought about you. Glad you are OK and there was no damage to your home.
Rosemary
So glad you are well! I have been through a lot of things - but an earthquake is not one of them so I can only imagine what it must be like for you.
I am so glad that you suffered no damage from the quake. Hoping it stays that way too!
Cindy,
Oh my, how scary! Glad you all are okay, and all of your pretties were not damaged. Sister-in-law used to live in San Diego. They moved to Missouri 2 yrs ago. They would have been right near where the fires were. Hope there are no aftershocks. Happy Halloween!
Debbie
Cindy I'm so thankful no one was injured. Praise God!
Love,
Julie
Oh, Cindy, that must be so frightening! I just can't imagine the earth moving!!! I'm so glad you and Lauren and your dog (Beau?) are all OK.

Mary
