Welcome Home!

Pin It Now!

My son is coming for a visit today. I only get 2 days with him but it will be wonderful! He just finished his 3rd year of college. He has to be back at school (UC Davis) on Monday to start his summer school class (Arabic). He's majoring in Political Science and Economics and plans on becoming a professor...he'll be in school for awhile!

This is my kitchen chalkboard. It's really hard to get a good picture because just on the opposite side of this is the fridge. It's so narrow that there is only enough room to open the fridge door. I found this old picture frame at the flea market and my dad added the chalkboard backing, the shelf for chalk, and painted it for me.

Enjoy every minute with your son! Your chalkboard is great -- and the sneak peak at part of your kitchen was fun, too.

Hi....You do not even know me (gee, am I a lurker?). I happened upon your page from the HGTV "Rate My Space". I must tell you, I adore your style & your page! And, now even more so....you see...my son--VINCE--just graduated from college and will be entering a MS-PHD program in the Fall...he too will be going into Academia (someday!). Like you, I always have something written on our kitchen chalkboard. At the moment, mine says...."Welcome Home Vince!"....even though MY Vince has already come and gone...he's doing an internship...;-)
Enjoy your VINCE! Judi

Oh, I'll be sure you are having fun visiting with your son! Time will fly! The memo chalk board is wonderful. That daddy of yours sounds like mine used to be... so handy with everything! You sound just like him in that you can do anything! I'm like Adrienne, I'd been wishing to see your kitchen, too. It looks darling, but then, I would have guessed that.

How wonderful that Vince is coming home! For him to walk in & see that special message for him on your vintage, framed chalkboard, will be food for his soul. How touching that your dad was able to customize it for you. That's something that surpasses any monetary value ~ & what a great job he did! Love it.

Now that I know that your son is coming home today, am doubly thanking you for stopping by my new blog to comment! Much appreciated. So glad you liked the banner. Oh, & I have to say that as a "real friend" of Betty Jo, that she is just as delightful in person, as she conveys in her blogging, & artisic creations! A real gem.

I'm a Romantic Homes, vintage, white, & shabby lover, & you can be sure that I will be back to your lovely blog! (& maybe bring others along :-).

Have a wonderful time with your son! :-)

Enjoy your time with your son.

Love the chalkboard. I've been working on one for my kitchen, too, but I'm not having any luck finding chalkboard paint.

Wow how cool your son is studying Arabic! I am a native Arabic speaker and studied Near Eastern Studies when I was in college but then succumbed to parental pressures to do something else, so I became a psychologist. I had actually always wanted to be a professor though. I still kind of think about it to this day. Good for you for supporting your son's dream.
