When I was around 10 years old I became interested in decorating. I used to come home from school and rearrange the furniture in my parent's house. My dad used to build the interior rooms for local Ethan Allen furniture stores as a side job. Instead of a paycheck he would get furniture. My parents house was filled with Ethan Allen furniture, actually it still is. I loved to polish the furniture because I loved the smell of the polish and loved the sheen it would give to the dark wood. Now it all seems so odd that a young girl would do all of this. Anyway, I continued to polish and rearrange their furniture until I moved out at 18. It's a family joke that that's when my mom lost her maid (me). I still love to move things around because it always seems to make things feel cleaner to me. I guess I just like change. This weekend I moved things around again. This table, named the birdhouse table was made by my dad. I saw a table like this in Romantic Homes Magazine in the early 90s and fell in love with it, so my sweet, wonderful dad made me one. I moved this under my stairs where my white mirror and bench were previously. I also hung some of my blue and white plates on the wall. It will stay there for a few months and then I'm sure I'll be moving it again.

Love your stuff!
Just got your comment Cindy... and YES, the March issue is finally in the Bookstores... I got mine at Borders. I would imagine that Barnes & Nobles have them out too. Good luck!
I so love your table Cindy! And your arrangement...really pretty.
Such lovely things...
I too used to putter and re arrange even as a young girl. I was always looking at home magazines when I was a kid!
I guess I consider my house a big doll's house and things just need to be moved from time to time!
It is fun isn' it?
Have a
sweet Wednesday!
Love,
Sue
I had to smile when I read this entry bc I was always re-arranging my room as a kid...even before I was big enough to move the furniture myself.. my mom would come in and see a dresser in the middle of my room and ask if I needed some help. The side table your Dad made will always be so special... and well you know how I feel about
your blue and white plates !
I love to rearrage too, not just furniture but accessories too. Nothing makes a room feel more fresh. Your dad did a fantastic job on that table!
Beautiful! Just lovely.
What a gorgeous birdhouse table!
