I think I've mentioned here that I LOVE old linen and lace. This is just some of my collection. (Click on the photo so you can see them better.) Funny thing is that I don't even mind ironing these. It's sort of my bonding time with them. The smell of the lavender water and the feel of the linen...it's heaven! I have table clothes, table runners, table squares, napkins, and tea towels. I really need to add some bed linens though...ya know just to round out my collection. How's that for justify buying things...it's needed to round out my collection. I find them at the flea markets, thrift stores and eBay. Sometimes I go on eBay and just do a search for "vintage white linen lace" just to look at all the beautiful items.
I added some of the robin's egg to my tiered dish.

What a collection of linens and lace you have ! So nice- love the ironing board cover! :)
Just posted this weekend about some linen and lace curtains I had found at Goodwill last week and about edging my tea towels with handmade lace.
Always a beautiful thing awaits when I come visiting you. I love that shade of blue :-) Rosie
I am addicted to linens and lace too, the difference being that I usually search for bluebird/rose embroidered ones, though I have some lovely white ones as well. Oh yes, you NEED to add some bed linens to your collection! I have quite an affection for vintage top sheets that have crocheted edging ~ they look so pretty when you turn the bed down. I also have a very sweet vintage embroidered summer spread with bolster.
:)
P.S. I love ironing my linens too. I don't really care for ironing clothing, but linens are entirely different!! :)
Cindy,
Love your linens. I like to iron my pillowcases with an egyptian cotton spray that I found in Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Heavenly! I love old lace too!
I have been a lurker here for a couple months and wanted to tell you i love your blog and your creativity. Love the eggs too.

Love your linens, just that little bit of lace peeking out from the stack is enough to set my heart going. So romantic, so feminine!
The blue pastel eggs are a perfect addition to your vignette!
I love those old linens. One of them reminds me of a tablecloth I inherited. I have some of the ironing items from the old days--the iron you fill with coals, a wooden ironing board, and a pop bottle and the metal sprinkler that fits inside for dampening clothes. I wonder how women ever managed to dress so beautifully when they had to starch everything, and then iron each item with an iron that sat on the stove. I love your idea of ironing with lavender water. I think I shall play copycat.
I absolute agree with you about linens.... I just love seeing them freshly ironed and folded neatly in a hutch...or some where I can see them...I have got to check where is the nearest TJMax from my house...I need some of those eggs...

PS As always... Cindy... your post are the most beautiful and the most romantic

I love to iron linens, too. I love the smell and the incredible difference in their appearance. Is there nothing more special than linen pillowcases freshly pressed?
Oh My!!!! I love the ironing board cover!!!!!!!I'm gonna have to go by TJ's now.
I just got eggs at Tuesday Morning last Saturday...so spring like!

If is wasn't for thrift shops I would not have the things around me that I do. When we were growing up in the 60's and after. We got excited going to the Salvation Army in our town. We would find the most interesting things. My mother called it "the one of a kind store"
which if you think about it, it really is. You can't find the things there anywhere else. So I know the excitement of the find. I always say when I find something wonderful, I like it it's mine. And I don't always know where I going to us it or put it, but somehow it all comes together.
Happy hunting.

I can absolutely relate to this post Cindy! I love old linens and lace too. I love to wash them and let them dry out in the sunshine. And I too even don't mind ironing them. I love to collect vintage tablecloths too! Your collection is beautiful. Hope to see more soon!

So Darling! Love Robin Eggs!

Aren't they beautiful! I love them. Every time I see some at a thrift store, I buy them. I still don't exactly know what I'm going to DO with them... but I can't not buy them! The robin's eggs are so pretty, too, love that color.

I love linen and lace also, You can never have to much. Your iron board cover is so pretty. What I do is get a lace or linen runner long enough to go across my bed and just tuck it under the top bedspread and it looks like a sheet. It is hard to find an old fashion linen sheet.
Have a great day
ginger
Oh how I love coming here every day just to get my fill of beautiful things! The linens are lovely, and I love your robin's eggs. :)
