Show and Tell Friday!

Pin It Now!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  For those of you that link up I try to get this post up every Thursday at 6:00pm Pacific Time.  Sometimes I'm a little late though!

This week I'm sharing my candles that I had lit last night.  Usually this time of the year the weather starts warming up a bit but not this year!  We are now getting the cold, wet weather we didn't get all winter!  If I had a fireplace I would have it lit but since I live in an old apartment with no fireplace, I light my candles when I want it to feel warm and cozy in here.  It looks so peaceful and serene but it isn't....

As I was taking these photos Beau was dragging his bed all over the living room and barking at it!  Both him and his bed ended up right in the camera view.  When I asked him to move his bed, this is the look he gave me!  Please ignore the very worn-out, chewed-to-threads toy. It's his favorite and I think he would be sad if I threw it away! We call it his "friend."  I tell him "Go get your friend" and he brings me that dirty old stuffed toy! It's pretty cute!  Well...at least to me it is!  Have I told you how much I LOVE this dog?  He has some nicer toys but he prefers this ratty old one!

Shells, candles and a glass of red wine...a few of my favorite things! sigh...

If you are joining in on Show and Tell Friday, please remember that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden.  If you would like to join in, please enter your name and leave your exact Show and Tell blog post link, not just your blog link and as a common courtesy link back to my blog.

Cindy, Beau is adorable. Our Ms. Gizzy, who I miss terribly, had a ratty old stuffed pig that somehow looked just like her. We called it her baby and she slept with it every night. Gotta love our pets, huh?... Donna

That's a beautiful shot, the candles and tray of shells is so pretty. My dogs love their ratty toys too. The uglier they get the more they love them. It reminds me of the story The Velveteen Rabbit. Thanks for hosting Cindy, have a great weekend.

Hi Cindy,
Beau is so cute! Don't we treat them just like our children? My Peeka (cat) is laying here on the bed beside me as I post. I just love the old fuzzball!
Gorgeous relaxing scene, thanks so much for hosting!

Shells and candles belong together dag-nabbit. There are few things that are so serene. (No worries about the frayed dog toy. I've got two dogs and they both have similar 'friends'). Thank you for hosting Cindy!

Thank you for letting us see Beau. He's delightful! I have a Wire Haired Fox terrier called Delphi who is also the delight of our lives. She too has a worn out old toy...a soft toy duck..which no longer quacks. But that doesn't matter. She takes it to bed with her and it gets 'kissed' every night.
What would we be without our dogs?

I was giggling over your Beau story. Bella does the same thing! I can't even get a bed like the one he has because she digs at it like she's desperate to get something out of it! Her favorite toys are old ratty things too, and I can't bear to throw them away. So cute when they know what you are saying!
Your evening looks perfect! Candles, shells, wine, and snuggle buddies.
What's your favorite red right now?

He goes everywhere with my husband and helps so much on the farm and if you all believe that I am a very good writer. Check my blog to read about him.

I really enjoy everybody who links up for Show And Tell, Cindy! Just wanted to say how Beau gave me a laugh. Those of us with dogs know that sometimes our homes can be dog-decorated with stinky, old toys; or a favorite, shredded blankie; and often when it's "just us," the covers go over the furniture so that dogs can cuddle on the sofa with their humans; or maybe it's not the greatest-looking bedroom because the nice comforter is protected by an oversized sheet "shield" against dog hair; or maybe your floors get mud prints after exuberant play in the yard (this could go on and on); but is there a greater joy than seeing a pet doing "Crazy Dog" as they run in loops from room to room in a frenzy only a dog can understand; watching them "swim" on the bed after a bath as they frantically try to get the shampoo smell off and get dry; watching the big, sloppy puppy bury her whole face in the water bowl as she learns how to drink (oh well, the kitchen isn't carpeted!)...and don't get me started on the little guy who got hold of a roll of toilet paper while I was at work (he did a better job of papering the house than the school kids did on my front-yard trees!)...

I have a very small formal lv rm. and I might be having some girlfriends over next month. I needed a coffee table to put our tea cups on; I was asking my husband if he would make a small bench that might work. We he said lets go out tomorrow and see what is in the thrift stores. We can either cut it to size or take the wood from a table and make something. Well for $4.98 I found a wood table with medium size dowls for the shelve below the table top. I got a free quart of paint in the mail from Glidden. It was a very pale yellow. My husband cut the legs shorter, sanded the table , reinforced the wobble thing with brass L bracets. It has nicks here and there and I sanded the edges to give it more wear. So with the brackets and table I have a very rustic coffee table for $8.00.
