I've been so busy job searching. I've had one great phone interview with HP today and tomorrow I have a phone interview with Google!!!!  Google!!! Yes Google...the #4 best company to work for!!! I'm beyond excited to just get an interview there!  Wish me luck....

Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday and Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great one!!!

I made Weight Watcher's lemon pie so that's what I decided to share today!  I thought it was really good.  My daughter, Lauren, wasn't so fond of it. She said it was a little "too mushy"...maybe I've been dieting too long...I could have eaten the whole thing!  Just don't make the same mistake I made and use a "deep dish" pie pan...it was sort of lost inside mine!

 One serving, which is only 1/10 of the pie is 4 points.  Here is the recipe:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weight Watchers Creamy Lemon Pie
(serves 10) 4pts on Weight Watchers Points Plus
6 whole reduced-fat cinnamon graham crackers
2 Tbsp Butter
11 oz. fat-free sweetened condensed milk
2 large eggs
1/2 fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp lemon zest
Preheat oven t 350 degrees
Grind graham crackers in food processor until fine crumbs from.  Or place crackers in a resealable plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin.  Place crumbs in a small bowl.
Melt butter on stovetop or in microwave and pour over graham cracker crumbs, mixing with a fork until completely moistened.  Press crumbs evenly onto bottom of a 9-inch pie pan; place crust in refrigerator while preparing lemon filling.
In a medium bowl, combine condensed milk and eggs; mix until smooth.  Add lemon juice and zest, stir until incorporated and pour into prepared crust.
Bake pie for 15 minutes.  Cool completely and for best flavor, serve chilled. Yields 1 piece per serving
Notes: this pie can be baked and frozen for up to two weeks.  Defrost and serve chilled.
Happy Wednesday!
Hi everyone!  As you can see I still have roses growing in my garden!  Even my Eden rose has buds! I'm hoping they bloom before the weather gets too cold.
I thought I would give you an update on my job search.  I've sent out over 30 resumes and I've only received two responses.  One was from a temp agency which I don't want to do yet. I will consider temping if I don't have a job by February.  The other response was from a Fortune 500 company that I would love to work for!  I have phone interview with the recruiter next Tuesday! Funny thing just happened as I was typing that last sentence...the recruiter called me by mistake, she had meant to call someone named Maria!  That was bizarre!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!  I'll be back tomorrow evening for Show and Tell Friday! Hmmm...I need to go find something to share!!!
Show and Tell Friday
Welcome to Show and Tell Friday
It's sort of a sad day for me today.  It's my mom's birthday (Nov. 17th)...the first birthday without her! I think about her every day but today even more than usual.  I was so lucky to have such a wonderful mother!
This week I'm sharing my Thanksgiving table from a few years ago.  I love my little turkey candy dishes that I use to serve soup in.  I learned to do that from Martha Stewart years and years ago!  She used vintage ones but I found mine at Marshalls.  My mom loved these turkey dishes too and she started collecting vintage ones after she saw Martha Stewart's collection.  Did I ever mention that my mom's name was Martha too?
I also found my turkey dishes at Marshalls.  I usually take them out this time of the year and use them all through the holiday season.  The silver chargers are just painted acrylic.  I bought them at SaveOnCrafts.com  They have some great things at very reasonable prices!
Show and Tell Friday
Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!
This week I'm sharing a new book I just bought!  For those of you that watch the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills you may recognize Lisa Vanderpump.  The Real Housewives shows on Bravo are a guilty pleasure of mine!  My favorites are the California shows (Beverly Hills and Orange Country).  Lisa is my absolute favorite housewife on all the shows!  I love her style! I still can't believe she's my age! Oh...how I would love to look like that!!!
Anyway...she has a new book out and I just bought it today.  I've thumbed through it and it looks great, although I wish there were more photos of her beautiful table settings and flower arrangements!  The recipes look great though and I can't wait to try them out!
The book is called Simply Divine ~ A Guide to Easy, Elegant and Affordable Entertaining.  I bought mine at Barnes and Noble but you can also buy it online at Amazon.
I picked some pink roses from my garden to add a touch of "Lisa-style" to this photo! Her nickname is Pinky and she has lots of beautiful pink touches in her oh-so-elegant home mansion!
A Visit to The Ritz Carlton - Half Moon Bay
Photo courtesy of The Ritz Carlton website
 A couple weekends ago, my guy and I were on our way to spend an afternoon in San Francisco but half way there we decided to go to Half Moon Bay.  It was one of those spur of the moment decisions that led to a wonderful and oh-so-memorable afternoon!
After having lunch and walking around Half Moon Bay, we were headed home when I asked my guy if he could stop by The Ritz Carlton so I can take in the beauty of it all. It's a majestic looking hotel that looks like it's been there forever but it is only about 10 years old.  I just expected to drive by the place...
...but my guy had an even better idea...rather than just drive by we should go in and look around and have a drink at the bar! Oh boy, was I excited!!!  We had just walked in the bar and looked around when the hostess approached and told us that there was also a bar outside with open seating. I will choose sitting outside over inside almost anytime!
You can see where we sat under the green umbrellas in the photo below...
It was the most amazing afternoon, sitting there on the patio of this beautiful hotel sipping a glass of wine, people-watching and looking out at the Pacific Ocean!  I could have sat there all day!  Pure bliss!
Half Moon Bay is known for it's foggy days but the day we were there it was absolutely beautiful!
After we sat there for awhile we decided to walk around the grounds.  On the other side of the hotel, the rooms have outdoor seating with fire pits. If I ever stay here, I want one of these rooms. I can just imagine how nice it would be to sit out there with a fire and listen to the waves while looking at the stars! I know...I'm a big-time dreamer!
The view below is some of the big, beautiful new homes that are close by....
I would have loved to sit in the adirondack chairs that look out over the ocean but someone beat us to it. What a great place to watch the sunset...
There are many outdoor seating areas with fire pits...
I told my guy that I would love to get married right there on the grass overlooking the ocean (below), even if it is a golf course! (ok...please don't read anything into that...I'm not planning a wedding!!!)  Wouldn't that be an amazing place for a wedding though? ahhh a girl can dream!
Here's a better view of where we sat and had drinks under the green umbrellas...
They do weddings here under the gazebo and there are some beautiful wedding photos on their website...
Here are some more of the outdoor seating areas with fire pits.  They sell S'more kits (marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers) so you can sit out there and roast marshmallows and make S'mores under the stars!
This was one of the most memorable afternoons I've spent in a long time!  I would love to stay here someday but it's way out of my budget!  The rooms with the views are over $600 a night but what an amazing experience that would be! I wish there were a way I could afford it but since I'm about to be unemployed at the end of the year I'll just dream about it! Maybe some day if I win the lottery...lol  ...a girl can dream!
As we were leaving and waiting for the valet to bring our car another group of people were standing next to us.  I had seen the woman a few minutes earlier posing for a photo and we exchanged smiles. My first thought when I saw her was that she looked like "old money" ...probably from San Francisco.  Then up pulls this HUGE Rolls Royce and they get in! Wow...they must be that top 1% I keep hearing about!
If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area I highly recommend a visit to this amazingly beautiful hotel! I know you will love it!
Show and Tell Friday!
Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  This has been an emotionally exhausting week for me.  In between the tears and feeling sorry for myself, I've been fine-tuning my resume and looking through job postings!
I submitted my first resume...and guess where I sent it? Google!!!  I actually used to work in one of the Google buildings before Google moved in there! I still have a lot more resumes to send out but it feels good to get started!
Since this has been a horrible week, getting laid off and all...I'm just sharing an old photo that has been on my blog before.  Show and Tell is more about you guys anyway!  We had over 400 bloggers linking up last week! WhooHooo...That was a record!
I just want to say thanks to all of you that left kind comments and sent me job info!  I'm feeling pretty confident now, much more so than I was just a day ago!  I haven't looked at my resume in years and I pulled it out this morning and I have to say I impressed myself! Haha! I've been fortunate to work at some really great companies and acquire some great experience!  At least that's one of the positive things of getting older! Experience!!!
A sad day!
My company had a re-org today and unfortunately my job was eliminated.
It's a very scary place to be with the economy the way it is. I found this job almost 10 years ago after being laid off during the dot-com bust in 2001.  I'm hoping I have the same good luck finding a job this time!
If anyone in Silicon Valley (San Francisco Bay Area) knows of an open Executive Assistant or Administrative Assistant job please let me know. I have a lot of experience supporting Directors and VPs in high tech and medical device companies.
I'll be okay financially until at least late Spring of 2012 but the sooner I find a job the better!
