Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to Show and Tell.  I'm sharing one of my favorite table clothes this week.  This was given to me by my mom, she was the ultimate linen and lace collector.  All through my childhood she was buying vintage linens at flea markets and thrift stores and she passed so many of them down to me.  This one is by far my favorite!

The photos really don't do it justice!  It reminds me of a beautiful old wedding dress!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! I am...I feel like I'm hardly ever home these days!  I'm out enjoying life!

The Painted Furniture Party!

I never imagined when I did my tutorial on How to Paint Furniture four years ago that it would draw so many new visitors to my blog! It's been wonderful!

I know many of you have painted your own furniture using my instructions and I thought it would be fun to have a Painted Furniture Party to see them!  Even if you didn't use my tutorial you are welcome to join the party!  I know this will be a fun party! I can't wait to see what everyone has done!

If you still haven't painted furniture, please don't be intimidated! It's easy to do. Here is the link to my easy, step by step instructions:  How to Paint Furniture

I'm including just some of my things I've painted.  This chair above was a great project. You can see the before pic...just click here. It was really ugly but only $15!

The blue cabinet above is probably my favorite project! Click here to see the "before" photos and see how I did it!  I even painted that big birdcage!  I still can't believe I got that for only $25!  You can see what it used to look like here.

This headboard was free on Craigslist! You can see the "Before" photo of this on my Painting Furniture Tutorial.

In the photo above you can see my entertainment armoire that hides my TV and Stereo.  I bought that on Craigslist for about $200 and then painted it white!

I add floral appliques to most of my projects before I paint them. The one above is on my dining room chairs.
If you would like to join the party please add your link below.  Also, please mention on your post that you are participating in my Painted Furniture Party and feel free to grab the graphic above!

Show and Tell Friday!

My friend Kim and I at the winery. This picture is deceiving, we really weren't that close to each other!

I have nothing to share for Show and Tell Friday because I've been out enjoying summer too much! The weather here has been very mild..sorry to those of you that have been dealing with those extreme high temps! I feel for you! I hate the heat and it's even worse when it goes on and on for days with no break in sight!

There are so many fun things to do around here in the summer and one of my favorite things is going to a local winery on Friday nights.  They have picnic tables out near the vineyard and you bring a picnic dinner and buy bottles of wine there. They also have a live band and a dance floor (a slab of asphalt actually)! Some of the most fun evenings I've ever had have been spent there with my friends!  Good food, good wine, good music and good company...that is living a good life in my book!

I hope you are all out enjoying your summer too!  I saw a great bumper sticker the other day. It said:
"The meaning of life is to live it"
I couldn't agree more! Get out there and live life to the fullest!

Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!

Once again, I'm showing off my dog, Beau!  He turned 7 years old on the 4th of July!  He was premature...his poor mom was so afraid of the fireworks that she went into labor early!  I'm not sure if I ever shared the story on how we got Beau. Lauren was in 5th grade and wanted a little Chihuahua. This was the during the time when Paris Hilton was caring hers around everywhere.

I told her if she could find one for $70 I would get it for her. Chihuahuas were going for a lot of money back then because they were in high demand...thanks to Paris!

Well, leave it to Lauren, she can be very resourceful when she really wants something. She put an ad on Craigslist (unknown to me at the time) saying she wants to buy a Chihuahua for $70 or less. She got lots of really rude replies back from people saying that the immunizations and vet check ups cost more than that!  I'm sure they had no idea they were being so mean to a kid! Anyway, she had someone contact her that had one dog left in a litter and that was Beau!  He was 7 months old when we brought him home and he quickly grew into one of the biggest Chihuahuas I've ever seen!

He is the best watch dog ever, although my neighbors would probably call it something else....like annoying!  We love him anyway! He always greets me at the door like he hasn't seen me in a week. Even if I'm only gone 10 minutes!

Goat Hill Fair ~ Coming Soon!

This is for all my friends in Northern California! An antique and artisian fair called Goat Hill Fair will be held on September 17-18, 2011 in the Santa Cruz Mountains!

I first met the organizer of this event, Cyndi Garofalo, when she had a cute, little shop in downtown Campbell.  Unfortuately I found her just before she shut her doors for good! I was happy to hear that she is now organzing this event which she hopes will be an bi-annual thing!

It will be a very untique event! It is a combination of antique dealers and artisans that are highly creative! There will be about 40 vendors selling there!  My friend Shari, who I met through my blog and now hike with every Saturday will be one of them!

These photos I'm showing here are from some of the vendors!  Just a little sample of what you can expect to see!

I plan on going and I hope to see some of you there! Please feel free to come up and introduce yourself if you see me walking around!  I love meeting my blog readers!

I'll be sure to take some photos to share here on my blog for those of you that can't make it!
