Spring has Sprung at Vintage & Vogue!

Pin It Now!

I stopped in my favorite little store, Vintage & Vogue in Historic Downtown Campbell.  Our little downtown area is such a nice place to go now. There are some nice shops, and lots of restaurants with outdoor seating! I love hanging out down there!

Vintage & Vogue looks especially nice with all the Easter and Spring items....

More Vintage & Vogue pics later this week so come back!
***************

I had a lot of comments in my last post about my weight loss. Since so many of you wanted to know how I did it, heres the scoop...

I've lost 55 lbs since last year and I still have 25 more to go. I lost most of it doing Weight Watchers. I'm lucky that we have a "Weight Watchers at Work" program so I just have to walk over to a conference room to attend the meetings on my lunch hour. It's very convienent!

Excercise! I've also been working out quite a bit. I usually (not always) go to the gym 3 times a week (sometimes less, sometimes more). Most of the time I just go to use the treadmill and I run about 3 miles. I've also joined a hiking group and hike 8-13 miles every Saturday morning. Now that it's staying light out later I'm starting to do shorter hikes (2-5 miles) after work.

I plan to have the last 25 off this summer and then I'll share the before and after pics! The "before" pics are shocking for me to look at now!

Updated:  I decided to add a current pic. Here's where I'm at right now. Lauren took this pic of me in her room (which I've never shown you before because we still haven't finished it!) Still need to lose those hips!

Again, you look amazing!

You look fabulous! 25 more pounds??? No way. There won't be anything left! What an inspiration, too. I need to get about 30 off. That might not sound like much, but when you don't stand quite 5' tall, it's a good bit. I just can't seem to get motivated to Do It.

I'm so glad that I don't live anywhere near that shop because the trunk of my car ain't big enough. Thanks for sharing your diet/exercise/weight loss with us. You should be very proud of yourself. One more thing ...you never talked about your jag only teased with one photo/license plate shot. Ever gonna spill the beans on that subject?

Jan, I bought the Jaguar last May. I've always wanted a Jag! It's a 2003 so it wasn't all that expensive. It only had about 40,000 on it when I bought and it looked brand new! I just hit 60,000 miles on it and I'm still loving it! Maybe I'll take my photo next to it when I get down to my goal weight and share that on my blog!

Bad hair day or not you look great! Now if I can do the same thing! I've lost about 5 pounds and have another 35 to go! Whew! We're gonna be busy! I wish I lived near Vintage & Vogue--I have a lot of similar easter decor, and would love to add to my collection, but it is hard to find Bethany Lowe, KD Vintage, etc. around Virginia!

Dear Cindy,
Within the comments on this post you posted a link to a "before" photo that you feel is unflattering. I have to say that I think you are beautiful in that "before" photo as well, because your true beauty is from within. That true beauty of yours is exposed in the way you decorate your home and care for your children and friends, and the way you conduct yourself on your blog. I agree with so many others -- you look FAB with the weight loss, but you were fabulous without it too. In fact, your discipline in losing the weight is a testament to your inner beauty, as well as an inspiration. I love the photos you post with your blog entries, especially of your travels and shops like Vintage and Vogue. Someday I want to visit your part of California, and appreciate all the "tips" you provide through your posts. Thank you!

Lisa

Thanks for sharing your weight loss tips. You look very nice just the way you are in the photo! I tried Weight Watchers but I had to drive to another city after work; too burdensome. Then, my cousin and I both tried WW online; too cumbersome. (Excuses?!!) Was a few years ago, so you've encouraged me to try again. Enviable, though, to work somewhere offering those kinds of perks...smart of them, because a healthier workforce makes for a lot less insurance claims and absenteeism. Wish all employers could be like that!

Love the adorable shop. We had something very similar in our small town; I'd say its peak was about 2004-06 when people were still spending money (although the owner had her things priced fairly...a wide range of prices; something for everyone; one time a very young girl came in and said, "what can I buy for fifty cents?" and she went home with a little something in her beautifully-decorated shopping bag the same as somebody else with a one hundred-dollar mini-chandelier; because who wants to go in and come out empty-handed?!!). It was my treat-of-the-week to slowly stroll the aisles and just...gaze. And smile; ooh and ahhh. The proprietor later opened up the back of the long, old building to a tea room and, of course, we women went nuts...to sit at small, round tables with pretty vintage linens, mismatched china teacups and a teapot on the table in a fabric cozy; just to die for, I'm telling you!

We need more of these kinds of eye-candy places in towns everywhere. But, although gratifying and satisfying, it's also time-consuming and sometimes hard to own your own business, especially in today's recession-weary climate. Unfortunately, for several reasons, our much-missed tea room and shop did close down...and, oh, how I miss it! Vintage repros, antiques; paintings, furniture, lamps, lace, china, journals, stationery, seasonal one-of-a-kinds, dolls, jewelry, figurines, vases, etc.; and all put together in gorgeous, sumptuous, tasteful displays exactly like Vintage & Vogue's. Something significant was that this shop's owner utilized many women (local) crafters, so this was another great vendor/selling opportunity for those crafters without having to hit sidewalk fairs, street festivals and service club boutiques, although they could still do that, too. So, in essence, it kept many talented women employed. I often think of the retired lady who still could perfect the art of finely-painted china, even with elderly fingers and maybe even fading eyesight, making the most precise brush strokes on small porcelain objects. I treasure the handpainted plates she made for the shop, a few of which I was able to buy. The aging seniors still do things like exquisite embroidery and even tatting, which is almost a disappearing, ancient skill. It's unlikely to probably see some of these women on Etsy or eBay; a different generation, you know. I thought it was a clever idea for the shop owner to find these many small sellers; it's how she initially furnished the store (with their wares) until she made money enough to start buying her own specialty inventory to add to theirs.

You could do this, too, Cindy! You've got the artistic flair and it sounds like you've already got some business acumen so, I say, go for your dreams, girl. You'd be great with your own shop. I might drive all the way to Campbell just to shop (and probably buy 'way too much stuff for my wee house which is already bursting at the seams!!).

I've joined the band wagon on the weight loss. I am near the 20lb point right now. I started on Feb 15th this year. And it's all from walking and eating less and not eating after 7PM. No alcohol since Feb. I have a goal but I have to take it one month at a time.
It's harder when you get older, but determination is a big key to sticking with it.

Stay with it Cindy.

Ciao
