A Busy Weekend

Pin It Now!

Pink!, originally uploaded by Romantic Home.

I had such a great weekend! My apartment didn't get cleaned and I have laundry piled high but I'm finally learning that those things can wait...having fun is more important! You would all be shocked if you saw what a disaster my place is!!!

I had 3 first dates...actually I guess they are more like meetings than actual dates. One Friday night, one Saturday night and one Sunday night! They were all great guys but not much chemistry with any of them unfortunately! I also went hiking with some girlfriends on Saturday and Sunday morning, went to a free music concert on Saturday afternoon and went to see Andy Dooley (Mike Dooley's brother) on Sunday afternoon! He was hilarious! It was an exhausting but fun weekend!

I've noticed a big change in Internet dating since the last time I tried it years ago. There are a lot of really young guys contacting me! Young as in....early twenties to mid twenties!!! No thank you! A little younger is fine but young enough to be my son is a whole different story! So it's been an interesting experience... chatting with men from 21 to 71!!!! haha! I'll keep you updated and hopefully I'll find some time to find some more interesting content for my blog!

I've always loved your blog about your home, beautiful collections, decorating, and so forth. And to be totally honest with you, I just don't want to hear about your dating life. On the other hand, it is your blog and not mine.

Im glad to see that after that one bad experience you havent given up! Yes younger men these days love older women and I found that weird too. But its nice also to know that we arent getting older......we are getting better and being appreciated like a fine wine. :)

I found the best way to handle this was to just go out to have fun. All the rest will fall into place if its meant to happen. And hey sounds like you had a really fun weekend!

And btw..........Anonymous.....thats really a rude thing to say. Yes it is her blog and your free to not read all of it or parts of it. She shouldnt change just cuz you dont like something. (Sorry Cindy, that just ticked me off)

Cindy~ I'm with seanymph, I feel the same, it's your blog and you

your dating. I'd say thanks for

picture you posted and I'm so glad
you went out and had some fun. You

and healthy enough. Honey, housework will be there when you die,so enjoy life.":O)

Hi Cindy,
So great to hear you're having lots of fun. The house will always be there for puttering away. Have a great week!

Wow! You had more social outings in one weekend than I do in six months. Way to go! :) The housework can wait.

I couldn't help but chuckle when you said you are being contacted by a lot of young guys. About 3 years ago I was in the Home Depot paint department (where else?), minding my own business when a perfectly normal looking young guy walked up and started flirting with me. I mean so blatantly flirting that it was even obvious to ME, an *old* married woman who is out of touch with stuff like that. I asked him how old he was and he looked me straight in the eyes and responded, "Old enough." After picking my chin up off the floor, I asked him a second time and he said, "I'm a man," and I couldn't help but think, yeah just barely! Finally, the third time I asked him he said he was 25 (my daughter's age)! I just laughed and walked away. To this day, that experience still baffles me and leaves me shaking my head when I think about it.

Wow Cindy! I am so proud of you! I have been divorced for 13 years and my son will be a senior in high school this year...so I am soon to be an empty nester and haven't dated in years, not counting a few platonic outings with guys from church. Well, keep us posted and just know that I am following this closely (and you are my guinea pig!)

jenngga said...

Oh my goodness!... If you don't want to hear about someone's life on their blog, then just look at flickr for the pictures!! We all read blogs for different reasons. Part of the reason that I read this one is that Cindy is about my age and we are both single parents. When someone posts as many times per week as she does, I don't see a problem with an occasional post about dating!

Cindy, your collage/mosaic is gorgeous! And your fabulous photos are just one of the reasons I love to follow your blog.

I've awarded you the Versatile Blogger Award. You can see it here:

I think you made the right choices, going out and having FUN this weekend. Dust and stuff will wait for you quietly at home!
Hooray for you for dating. I think if you take a 21 year old and a 71 year old, add them together and then divide... you might get the right age guy!
Too much math? :-P

and this will be my last comment on this post... just reminding everyone that the blog IS called "My Romantic Home"...so I think Cindy is entitled to a little romance!

Cindy, Five words of advice: DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY! If it's re-finishing a piece of furniture or going out for a 'first date'...do it. It's your life & just because you have a blog doesn't mean that the people who read your blog have the right to judge you!! That comment from 'anonymous' was really RUDE!

Hi Cindy

I think you were very brave to do all 3 in a row. I applaud your courage and determination.
At this stage it is about having fun and getting to know someone. You are not going to pick a life partner in only a few hours. (Or you probably shouldn't.)
Expand your comfort zone, find new activities you enjoy - and feel free to tell us the good, bad, humorous and...

Three dates...what fun. Who cares if the house is a mess and you need to do laundry. It will be there when you get back. Lots of other fun activities too. You are at a good stage in your life to have fun. Younger men...Yeah! You're not getting older, just better.

My first giveaway over on my blog. Please stop by if you have time.

I, too, am completely baffled by the young men who have contacted me online. I have sweaters older than some of them.

Love everything you have to say, Cindy - you're a terrific inspiration.

Cindy,

I applaud you for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something different. Even if there was no romantic chemistry between you and the men you meet, you are well on your way to forming friendships and experiencing some new adventures.

Many a romance had the foundation of a good, solid friendship first!

Isn't internet dating a fascinating place? I'll be dying to know if you have success....there are certainly no shortage of men in our age group out there, that's for sure. We'll have to swap notes, Cindy!
I'm still hoping to find the golden ticket, as this divorced single life is not a comfortable place to live, and I long for the warm and fuzzy things that being part of a couple is.

Cindy, I couldn't find a place to e-mail you so instead I'm sending you my e-mail address.

I'm an author (and I follow your blog) and I have an idea for a storyline and I wanted to ask you something.

I'll let you know what it is if you e-mail me and I'm hoping you can give me some info.

Also, my blog is Hillbilly Debutante and I've left messages on here before (just an fyi)

Hi Cindy. My, you are brave. I tried that internet dating thing for about a year and only met three of the guys. I just wasn't brave enough and then I met someone at a club (that was a disaster!) but like everyone else here says you go girl! I think the pool of eligible mates may be larger for you than for a black woman like me because I could't even contemplate meeting some of the jerks who contacted me. I did find somebody but it is someone I have known for over 10 years. Remember you are only here once. Have fun!

Tell Anonymous to go read other blogs if she doesn't like it! I think a lot of us who have been married a long time are enjoying your adventures vicariously. I still think you are extremely brave.

Hi Cindy...

My daughter's tried the e-harmony thing...she says "there are slim pickens out there".... She's gone on a few dates too...and ditto...no chemistry...but it's good practice for Mr. Right that's looking for both of you!

I just finished my bedroom, inspired by your lovely blues....although a darker blue because I couldn't find any softer colors...anywhere! I just posted it on my blog if you'd like to peek...

Warm blessings,
Spencer

I'm so glad you didn't let the dating scam you found yourself in dampen your dating spirit! :-) You're such a sweet lady, I know you will find your soul mate!
Keep on having fun....dust and laundry will ALWAYS be there! (Martha Washington's house is still getting dusty and she's been dead for years!... so enjoy your life!)

I've notice this. One of my girlfriends was briefly dating a guy in his early 30's. I have guys 22 contact me. Now that younger than my son. It's just creepy to me to even think about dating that young.

Just have as much fun as you can stand.
