Let's go to the Flea Market!

Pin It Now!

I know most of you are freezing out there so reach your arm through that monitor in front of you and I'll pull you through and we can go to The Alameda Flea Market together...in the warm California sunshine! It's winter though so bring a lightweight jacket! Let's go....

I love these old windows below...
What a cute mermaid...

Oohhh...look at this... oh never mind they want $1,400 for that! Too much!
Marilyn's booth is always gorgeous...

I love this...

Look at the PJ bottoms made out of an old chenille bedspread...

and the banner made from hankies. She has an etsy shop too!
This booth is gorgeous and she's opening a new shop in Carmel, in a little old cottage! I'm going to look for her next time I go because she had some gorgeous things, maybe you should come too...

Look at this little girl's coat.... I love this!

I want this antique cradle! oh....it's already sold. Someone got a great deal at $125 for that!

Look at this old hairdryer, it has a coin-operated TV! It's out of an old salon in Hollywood...
Are you warmed up from all that walking? That was fun! You better jump back through that monitor now, we've been having some earthquakes here and even though they are small ones they are scary...even for a 49 year old that's lived her whole life in California!
*******************************

Not to dampen this fun day we've had but I need to take care of some business. It was brought to my attention a couple times about people stealing photos off my blog and using them on the Internet for different things. I have no problem at all if you save my photos on your computer for your own personal use but I do not want my photos used for anything else without my consent! I want to thank those of you that have contacted me when you see my photos out there. They've been spotted not only on U.S. websites but foreign ones as well! I've worked very hard at decorating my home and building my blog and it makes me really angry to see my photos used in free blog templates and other things! Thanks!

I remember Tracey over at Notes From A Cottage Industry had a photo of a chair re-do stolen and the other woman claimed she did the re-do. That is the epitome of laziness and lying!

Gee Cindy my arm hurts, guess it
was stretching it through that
monitor. Boy did I enjoy that flea
market. Gosh I'd just like to be
there for the sunshine.LOL. It is
going to be 20 degrees tonight and
15 degrees by Sunday,that's crazy.I
do live way down South.LOL. I loved
walking through the flea market,but
I wish I couldn't have bought something.LOL.Thanks anyway.:O)

There is snow and cold in Missouri so I wish I were there. Your pictures are really great, can't you watermark them? I've never gone to a flea market with such wonderful things. Love your Blog!

I love your flea markets out there!! We have loads of them here on the east coast, but I've never seen booths set up in such deliberately gorgeous ways as you have there! What great eye candy and ideas for all of us who love your blog. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Cindy,
Man-o-man, do I miss Bay Area shopping!!! (sigh)
Really enjoyed the virtual tour ~ thanks for sharing your day... which flea market was this?

karlascottage.typepad.com said...

I'm snowed in and can't even leave the driveway. A flea mkt in the sunshine sounds like paradise right now!

Cindy said...

Bonnie, It's the Alameda Flea Market. Thanks I meant to put that. I'll update the post!

Debbie said...

Oh how I LONG to be in California and the warm weather!! It is cold and snowy in the Atlanta, Georgia area today.
And California flea markets are the BEST!! "Flea Markets" here seem to only have junk - as in stuff no one would want!

Glenda/MidSouth said...

Thanks for taking me shopping. I want one of those chandeliers, a birdcage I spotted, and etc., etc.
It will be in the single digits Fri. & Sat. nights here. Nut I am afraid of earthquakes also. I am sorry you are having problems. Can you contact the persons that did it. It seems others are having problems also. As bad as my photos are, I would hate to think someone would use them and take credit for my poor photograph skills. I did have to activate comment moderation before Christmas because of a problem. Hope you get it worked out.

Glenda/MidSouth said...

That is suppose to "But" I am afraid of earthquakes - not Nut. Geesh!

Claudia said...

Unfortunately, I hear of this kind of thing more and more. It is so unfair and dishonest.

Oh, I could do some damage at that flea market! Wow - everything is so beautiful - and you have sunny, warm weather. Sounds perfect!

Well Cindy, that was the best flea market I've ever seen, thanks for sharing it. We have a year round indoor one not far from where I live in Ontario but it looks junky compared to what you have out there.
Another blog I visit had a real problem with not only photos, but whole posts being used elsewhere.
The reading I've done on this theft pretty much says it's not a matter of if, but when it will happen.

Cindy looks like you had a great time at the Alameda Antique Fair. Did you happen by Big Daddy's? I love his stuff, but it's a bit pricey. I'm going next month and can't wait.

On the photo thing...let me tell you it happens a lot more than you know! It amazes me how many times I've come across that....

Wow wee, Now this is the place I would be going nuts, wanting it all. I already have seen somethings I wouldn't mind having. Places like this I can really get overwhelmed with so many beautiful treasures. I really enjoyed this post very much. I just can't wait for spring to go to my yard sales adventures.

Thanks for sharing-

What a beautiful flea market... It made my day dreaming of your 70 degree weather. Here in Iowa we have blowing snow, schools closed and tomorrow the high is to be ZERO!! Blogging is better than therapy to survive our winters. I'm new to the blogging world. Hope you can check out my post. I'm a real newbie, but love all your inspirations..

Happy Sunshine,

Nancy

What a wonderful flea market! Thanks you for taking us with you! We are expecting snow tomorrow, it's nice of you to share a little of the Ca sunshine :)

Wow! So many beautiful things.I loved going along with you.
I don't blame for being upset about people stealing your photos.
Hope the earthquakes stop!

What fun! As we are buried in snow rught now, a sunny day at the flea market sounds very appealing.

Karen said...

Love your flea markets out in California. I've never seen such beautiful things down where I live... deep south Texas.
That is really amazing to me how people will steal photos. I've seen some people use that clear "autograph" on a photo which would discourage that. I have no clue as to how that is done, but it might be worth looking into.

Loved the trek through the flea market, Cindy, and I'd LOVE to go in person some day! You did a great job, as always, with the photos. Take care and have a great night! Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

Your weather sounds wonderful, but the earthquakes, not so much. We are having temps in the -40 deg. Celcius and Farenheit (That is where they meet, as you probably know.) with the wind chill factored in. I was out today and almost froze my nose.:) I love everything that you showed, especially the chandeliers. I want one!!! Hugs, Cindy S.

Looks like so much fun! I've seen a couple of those vendors at the Rose Bowl recently. I'm sure they hit all the good shows. I actually recognized a lamp that I had when I was a child. I think I gave it to Goodwill years ago and wish I wouldn't have!

Oh my goodness! How does one keep their sanity and resist the urge to rent a truck and fill it up with flea market treasures!!?? So many interesting and unique items. I love the pink quilt and the armoire with the lattice doors...

Hi Cindy,

My, wish I could be there one day to enjoy all the pretties you have shown us.

Regarding people using your photos:

Blogger (goggle) has actually a copyright policy, and if you report about a site that's hosted with blogger and has used your photos without consent, google will remove that content (and the blog if the person keeps stealing). There is a form you can submit.

Love those sea shell chalkboards. Do you remember the quote by Julia Child on the smaller one? I'd love to know. I check back here to see if you have the answer.

We just don't have flea markets like that here. I am so jealous. But thanks for taking me along so I can at least dream.

Bonjour Cindy,
Thanks for all these fantastic photos. I could use that French style bed loaded up with all the pillows, and the chandeliers, and ...I love old things.
Too bad about the photos, some people just can't play by the rules!
Have a great weekend and enjoy all that lovely weather. I'm a Florida girl living in Paris where we've been having some snow and very cold weather - I'm freezing!

I wish they had flea markets like that where I live. I would spend a small fortune there. Thanks for sharing now I am drooling.

Can't exactly remember how I came across your blog but it has become a favorite stop.
This is the 3rd day we have not had school. It is cold and pouring the snow yet again. The sunshine looked wonderful! The flea market was beautiful.I could almost smell the lavender! California flea markets are so different than the ones around here.Have to really search for those special cottage style treasures.
Thanks for the tour..think I might have gotten a little sunburn on my nose.

The Tablescaper said...

Oh that was fun. Just wish I didn't have to do it through the monitor!

We're expecting snow tomorrow morning, but that's OK. It just makes my family huddle closer and it is beautiful.

Did you make any purchases?

Sorry to hear of the stealing problem.

Sorry about your photos being stolen. You're the second blogger I've come across recently that is having this problem. GRRRRRR!! I hope they forwarded the blogs of those bloggers stealing your ideas to you!!

Well that was totally heavenly!! Seriously, I miss CA and I miss the flee markets! I used to go to the Rose Bowl Flee market and the PCC Flee market regularly! I was totally dazzled by the chandeliers, all the shabby white stuff, oh it was TOO wonderful. Thank you for you beautifully inspirational post! Loved it! Elizabeth.

What a fantastic flea market!! I do wish the weather was so for one here but the high was only 20 and 0 is what it's shooting for ! I decided to hang out my laundry for some strange reason yesterday as it was so warm (40s) and sunny- 2 hours later this nasty front came in and my clothes froze - guess I need to check the weather report before hanging out clothes!

What a great time I just had going with you on a shopping tour. Cindy have you ever had a meet and greet? Where you followers could meet up with you and go through your travels at the Flea Market in person?

Cindy said...

Madeleine, I'm thinking about doing that in the Spring!

violetlady said...

I have never seen such a great flea market -- everything looks like it is staged and displayed so beautifully. I am here in Delaware and good flea markets are few and far between - at least any that I know of. Thanks for sharing -- I saw several things that I would have wanted to buy!

Sherry @ No minimalist here said...

I am so jealous...People from California really know how to put on a flea market! I could take everything in your pictures home with me... ok, maybe not the hair dryer or the chicken but I could find a great spot for everything else.

MJ said...

That sure takes nerve to use your photos for their own use!! I hope you catch those that are doing that.

I love Alameda ... it's so fun to just walk around even if you don't buy anything.

Dixie said...

If I ever got to this Flea... I might not ever leave!

thanks so much for sharing the beauty of it all!

Wow, that was fun! Now why didn't I come home with anything? Oh yeah, couldn't fit them through the computer monitor. But saw plenty I liked; chandies!!!, those chairs with the black crown design on them, oh crum that iron baby bed ( I know you wanted it too) wow what a steal at $125 and several other things. But enjoyed looking alot!!
And I got the new Romantic Homes for Feb. today and there you were Cindy, now got to go read it all.

Thanks for sharing. Now I wish I lived in California!

I"m looking forward to the weather warming up in a couple of months, so I can enjoy some flea markets here in the northeast.

I'll probably have to visit a couple of my favorite vintage shops in the meantime, though.

There's something about "that special find" -- might not mean anything to anyone else, but it has special meaning for you.

Cindy, thanks for the trip to the flea! I think I need to rent a UHaul.
Sorry to hear that your photos have been taken and misrepresented. We all know how much time and effort it takes to share a post of one's own. No one wants someone else to grab all that effort and run with it. Is there a solution?

DreamgirlLisa said...

What a great Flea Market you have there! I will have to check that out one of these days.
Sorry to hear people are doing that with your pictures, I've seen other bloggers put their name on each picture, you might consider doing that. I finally saw the article in Romantic Homes, it was so nice to see your cozy apartment and you too. What a wonderful keepsake for you and Lauren.
