A day off

Pin It Now!

I took a vacation day today! Lauren and I are going to see Wicked in San Francisco tonight. I bought these tickets months ago and I'm so excited the day has finally come. San Francisco is only an hour away from us but I really don't go there very often. Probably because I have a car with a stick shift and I always end up in a panic on those San Francisco hills! My next car will be an automatic!!! We're going to go up early to beat the commuter traffic and have dinner up there. It will be nice because it's been close to 100 degrees here and it's supposed to be in the low 70s in San Francisco. The SF Bay Area has weird micro climates so you can drive an hour and the temps can be close to 40 degrees different!

Thanks for all the nice comments about the tray. I'm so excited that so many of you are going to make one for yourself! If you do, please email me a photo. I would love to do a post with every one's creation! If I get enough photos I'll post them sometime in early August. I think it will be fun to see all of them together.

Also, you still have time to enter my giveaway. I'll be drawing the name on Thursday evening. And to "Mad in Montana" and "anonymous" (who I'm pretty sure are the same person), you said my giveaway is cheap, I would just like to say that this same teapot is selling on eBay for over $50 with shipping! I don't think that's cheap. Also if my ads on my blog make you that mad just don't visit. Those ads bring in money for my family so they are staying! I didn't start my blog to make money and I blog because I love it and making money while I do it is like icing on the cake! My thanks to the 99.9% of you that are so wonderful and so nice and come back here regularly to read my blog. I really appreciate it!

Note: Sorry, I don't know what happened but the Mr. Linky link on my giveaway post is not working any longer!

I'm sorry someone made that comment. Sometimes people have things going on that make their thoughts and words cruel. I enjoy your blog and look everyday. Although our styles are very different, I enjoy seeing what you're doing. My blog is about our family journey through cancer, so not fun stuff but I find you "blog ladies" give me a lift! Have fun!

Cindy,
Enjoy your day off. A road trip will be a lot of fun. Dinner and a Show what more could you ask for.
I love reading your blog ever day and if you can add ads to it good for you. Being a single mom as well I know if you can make a little extra money it helps.
Can you tell us what size frame you used for your tray?
Beautiful Flower picture!!
Safe travels,

I cannot believe the nerve of some people! Like you said DON'T VISIT! obviously its just jealousy! I mean I AM jealous you get to go see WICKED in beautiful weather! HOW FUN, have a great time! Love your tray idea, I will have to remember that. P.S. I have tried doing the Adsense thing to advertise stuff on my blog for money, and I am still waiting for them to review my blog... its been months. Arghh! if you can make money from your blog HECK YEAH!

Oooo, you and Lauren are going to have a great time! Wicked is an AMAZING show!

Had to come back and say, gracious, people are nosy and bossy! You started your blog for you, yes? As long as it makes you happy, it's serving its purpose!

Good for you Cindy! Enjoy your day off. I know you will enjoy Wicked, it is fabulous!

Your giveaways are great. Ignore the rudeness. If they do not like your blog, they should not visit. As for me, I love visiting and do so almost every day. I am extremely new to blogging and have not included ads yet but may do so in the future. As a single mom and foster mom for furbabies, additional income is always welcome.

Cindy: My son went to Atlanta and saw Wicked a couple of months ago and LOVED it! He is not big on plays, but the girl he is dating is a drama major, so of course she LOVES them! But he really liked it alot! I hope ya'll have a marvelous time and I so envy you motoring around San Francisco!!

I have seen several "unkind" comments in blogland lately and I really don't understand the reasoning behind it! Some people are just miserable!

Have fun!!

Hi Cindy,
It's exciting when a new post from "My Romantic Home" pops up on my Google Reader, because I am anxious to see what you have for us in Blogland! I love your decorating style and appreciate all the ideas you share. I even forward your link to my son occasionally, when you have pics of California scenery. His dream is to live in the SanFrancisco area someday.
Hope your day off was WONDERFUL! Janeen

As for the person that said your giveaway was cheap - sounds like she's jealous that you're having a giveaway!
I was a single mother for years and I know how tight things can get - I think you're doing a great job and you deserve whatever rewards - pleasure, monetary, whatever - that you reap! Keep up the great job.

We're going to see Wicked when it comes here in the spring! I can't wait! be sure to let us know what you think....and oh Pa-leeeeeze - tell me nobody said anything you've got looks cheap! Good Golly - EVERYTHING you do and show looks like a million bucks and should be in a magazine. You are one classy lady and it shows! We all know that.

My son and d.i.l. saw Wicked when they visited New York a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty good.
Sorry to hear you have an unhappy visitor. I guess you can't make everyone happy, and like you said 99.9% percent of us love your blog and your giveaways. I know how much it costs to mail packages these days and I really appreciate that you are willing to do it.
Enjoy your trip to S.F. and the cool temps...I am visiting this week in Vegas and it's 112*.

You and Lauren will LOVE "Wicked"! It's one of my very favorite shows! Enjoy!

And good for you for making money from your blog. If I even knew how to set up a blog I would definitely be doing the same thing!

Cindy, I always enjoy the weather in San Francisco. And you will love Wicked! I've seen it and it's great. A different take on the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz. I guess there's always two sides to a story, right?

As far as your giveaways and ads, I say ignore the very few who have a problem. You bring such to me and I know many others too. It's like a little escape to visit your blog. And for that, I hope people do click on your ads. It may not be much but I know everyone can use a little bit extra in this economy. And istock photos, etc cost money. So, you go for it. And I for one always appreciate any blog that is kind and generous enough to offer a giveaway.

Cindy,
I think you are an inspiration. I am seriously thinking of doing a blog since I started reading yours. You are a "regular" everday lady with an extraordinary eye for decorating, photography and trash to treasure. Ignore the crabby people, they arent worth the effort! I will let you know if I ever start a blog. I am afraid that I wont be able to figure it out, although I have been selling on ebay for years and figured that out ok. Anyway, enjoy the show and thank you for taking time to make others happy.

Don't worry about the complainers. If you didn't have any then you would be doing something wrong! I enjoy the ads, and have found info of interest several times. It's 105 here in the Central Valley! Beach Day for us on Saturday, maybe Santa Cruz, I don't know yet. Enjoy the show.

Cindy,

I am absolutely APPALLED that someone would judge a FREE giveaway and make such a rude comment. And the ads are just there. If you don't want to look at them, don't. It's not as though they are pop ups. OOOH, got my stinger up on that one, especially since you are the nicest gal ever. Sorry you have to put up with such jerks!

Hey Cindy;; I can't believe someone would say such a thing,, shame on them... A gift from the heart is never cheap,,, I agree they should just not visit if they are bothered by your adds... I think it is great that you are able to have adds, if I could I would, but my traffic is not a big as yours or I would be doing the same thing as you... I just love to visit your blog and ready your posts,,, you give every one such inspiration and true friendship...

Keep up the great work.....

I hope you enjoy Wicked, we have tickets in November so I'm anxious to hear how you like it. Don't let someone who's having a bad day dump their trash in your lap. Just put it in the dumpster (where it belonged in the first place) and go ahead with your day. Have a wonderful day off, I'll be looking forward to seeing you back again!

Cindy - I am so glad that you responded to the boorish individual that made those comments. I love your blog, read it every day and miss it on weekends...you responded right away when I asked about your frosting...I was thrilled to correspond with you! Told all my friend how sweet you were. So, don't let anyone behave that way torwards you...you're a pleasure to read, I feel like I know you personally. Keep up the good work, we love you out here in cyberspace!

Cindy,
My sister and I love your blog and your giveaways. They are always beautiful and thoughful. We are sad that someone felt the need to leave such mean and nasty comments. You are an inspiration to all women who seek to make a house a home. Your have truly proven that a cottage can be a cottage no matter where it's located. The fact that you make money doing what you love only shows that you get it.

Cindy,
I Saw "Wicked" last year in Hollywood and enjoyed every single minute of it! I am certain you will also.
Regarding the rude comments left regarding your giveaway and blog ads, just consider the source!! That person is not worth your time and energy on any level whatsoever. If he/she is that petty then he/she should go elsewhere.

I appreciate the fact that you stood up for yourself ,I would never have expected anything less!

Hi Cindy,
Enjoy your day in the city. My husband was born and rasied in S.F. I know what you mean about a stick in the city. I was caught on a one way very steep street in S.F, I took a wrong turn and I was scared to death my heart was beating so fast I thought I was going to get sick!,I prayed all the way up the hill with my foot on the brake and the clucth.
I bought one of your pink hearts and have it hanging on my mirror in my tea room. If you would like to see it, please stop by. I posted it on July 14.
Take care,
Elizabeth

Oh nice, a mother-daughter bonding time. Enjoy your night!

And those negative comments - better just brush them off. Sad people enjoy bringing negativity. Shame on them too. I will never understand why they do such a thing - provoke other people. But I'll just have to be reassured that the good people always outnumber them.

Hi Cindy,
Enjoy your day off and the show in SF. I can't believe how generous you are to have FREE give-a-ways.. only a rude, mean and nasty person would complain. (PS - I don't mind ads. Its your blog to do as you wish. All one has to do is leave if they don't like a blog. There is no need to say negative things.) I was drooling over the teapot and angel which is why I entered.
Also, I loved your tray and that beautiful blue and white teapot sitting on it - I'm drooling again.
My niece who is in the USCG just got stationed in Concord, CA. Her parents live near Cleveland, OH and I'm near Philadelphia so she is far from home. Luckily her hubby has family there. I hear she likes it. I'm looking forward to your next post.

Cindy - you can also put *handles* on the tray too. I did one years ago (no vintage linens though). Yours is so pretty!

Just ignore the nasty comments. Whoever it is is probably trying to get a rise out of you. Don't given him/her the satisfaction.

Hope you and Lauren had a wonderful time!

Hi Cindy,
I've been visiting your blog for sometime now but this is my first time leaving a comment. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy my visits. I also loved that little tray & printed out your directions for safekeeping. Its too bad we couldn't shake a wand at all those nasty people and just have them disappear. Imagine how better off the world would be without them. Keep up the great work and thanks again for all the sharing you do! Sheila in Canada

Cindy, I would never have been able to drive threw all that traffic and people. I am from Missouri and a country person that sounded like a nightmare! One time I went with a friend to Ohio and we were eating at a McDonald's when I sat down there was homeless people came in and asked for money for food I was very limited on cash so I gave them my food I had not even opened the bag they refused my food and insisted on money I was nervous and told them I did not have any more cash luckily the manager came out and asked them to leave, I was nervous all the way to the car. I still felt bad for them. I am sorry someone said your giveaway is cheap because your offering it as a gift. How rude.
