Love this...

Pin It Now!

One of my readers emailed me a link to a beach cottage on the Better Homes & Gardens website. Wow! I love this home! I suddenly want to paint all my walls white! Somehow I think if I did that it would just make my apartment look more like an apartment and not at all like this.

I thought about making a mirror with shells on it like the one above for my bathroom but I decided not to do it but now that I see this I may reconsider! I love those blue dining room chairs, I may look for a soft blue and white toile fabric and recover mine.

You can see more photos from this cottage on the BHG website, click here.

Thank you Chris! You sure know my style!

I tried the all white wall paint job last summer and had to go back and repaint. Your right, it looked to much like an apartment. Just a hint of color really made things pop out...although, I'd love my home to look like those pictures.
If you have a Home Fabrics up there, they have their 52(?)inch cotton prints on dale for $3. I just got the blue toile and a roll of black and white for fall. In fact, the had toiles in colors I had never seen.
Happy Memorial Day-have a great weekend!

Cindy,

I love that blue and white toile, too and think that fabric would look wonderful with your dining room chairs.

Lots of good ideas from the BH&G website!

Cindy,
Just my style! Looks so restful. I made a big shell mirror like that several years ago. It took a lot of shells. I collected them from different places that I traveled to. The base was all scallop shells that I bought at Sea Shell City in Fenwick Island DE. They advertise in the back of a lot of magazines like Romantic Home, etc.
I used masonite for the base, painted white and glued the mirror in the center. I had a boarder about 4-5 inches wide to which I glued the shells. It was all done in cream and white colors and just added some slight touches of pale colors in sea horses, sea urchins, etc. Had white starfish at each corner. I used hot glue for the instant adhesion but you could use regular glue if you are willing to wait until it is dry. Mine has held up well inspite of several moves. I love the relaxed beach look... Hope this inspsires some one to take on a project!

Hi Cindy. I love those blue and white toile dining room chairs, too. And I love the chandelier hanging over the dining room table. And I know you'll show us photos of your mirror with shells if you decide to create one!

Have a great day,
~Arleen

Yep. I just love it. However, I get so confused. I also love the colors Kim uses over at Daisy Cottage as well. So, when I imagine my cute little coastal beach cottage hanging off the edge of a cliff that I will purchase after winning the lottery, I see your home and think, yep, this is exactly how I would decorate it. Then I go see Kim, and think yep, this is exactly how I would decorate it. I need to resolve my decorating identity issues before I win the lottery.

The seashell mirror is gorgeous. Once my oldest daughter took a mirror in her bathroom and mosaic-ed it. I can see that in blue and white for sure!

Cindy,

When I went to Home Depo last week, I checked the color you painted on your livingroom wall,
"cozy cottage" It was so pretty and soft!

Your livingroom looks very cozy and gives very warm feeling!! I hope you don't change your livingroom wall color to white!!

Hey Girl. That's twice in a row we've had the same idea for blog content. Great minds do think alike. :-)

Thanks for the info on the internet explorer. I was under the impression it was blogger.

Hey...can you please tell me when you view my page, are you seeing all the content on my side bar on the right or is it showing up at the bottom?

This is another issue I've noticed in the last couple of days. And that's why I was thinking it was blogger.

Oh, that beach cottage is lovely and so elegant! I like the toile too and the mirror.

The mirror looks huge and I know it wou;dn't fit in my little bathroom. I would settle for one of those sailor's valentines they have in Nantucket.

These are pretty pictures, however I like the colors that you chose much better. I would not change them. The mirror would be pretty just don't make yours as gaudy as they did. To me all that white makes it look cold. I like a warmer look like yours.

Lee Laurie

A beach cottage white would work well with your Nantuck bathroom.

Thanks for your advise on the blogger problems, it's been irking me all day and was worried i would have to cut back on the decor budget for computer maintenance.

Cindy, thank you for posting on my little blog. I feel so honored. I have watched yours for so long. You were one of the reasons I started my in January. I felt like we were so much a like and I was lonely, so I thought maybe I can find people like me who love just to look at lovely things. You are in a league of your own however. Thanks for the comment on the spoons. They are so much prettier in person. I just have not figured out how to photograph them. Anyway, thank you, Martha C.
