I can't stop making these!

Pin It Now!

I wanted to make one tassel and I had so much fun I ended up making 4 of them!  Now I want to run out to the store and buy more ribbon and trim to make more!
Each one takes on a different personality and it's hard to choose a favorite!
I was looking around my home for materials to make more and I thought my little white bird salt and pepper shakers from Target would look cute (above).  Then I found a large blue egg and made one from that (below).
The egg above is Lauren's favorite but I think I like the nest the best (oh how cute, that rhymes). Do you have a favorite?

I have some faux lemons and I'm thinking black and white checks would look darling with those!

If you want to make some for yourself I found this easy tutorial (click here).

Love your tassels, Cindy! Aren't they fun. And you can use them anywhere! I think the lemon with black/white would be really cute! Just my style.

Cindy, I didn't know you were making tassels! I want to try making a few too, but I've told myself I MUST finish up my other projects first (I swear I have adult ADD). I really love the first one, what a sweet little bird! Is he made of wood?

Your tassels are lovely.

I have been enjoying your blog. Thank you for the link for the tutorial! I have been wanting to try one for awhile now!

Cindy said...

Ali, I made these all yesterday afternoon! I think the bird is made out of resin or something but it looks just like wood. I bought him last year and I wish now that I would have bought more.

Cindy, These tassels are adorable-Why don't you consider making them to sell. In fact I bought one in pink and I just love it. I'll show you one of these days. I've seen these before and there are so many things you can make tassels with. GREAT JOB!

They are all so beautiful. I can't decide between the first two as my favorite though. I think they would be wonderful to accent a gift bag or atop a gift box. I'm going to a wedding soon. I think I'll give it a try.

Thanks for sharing!

What a great idea! I was just looking at some tassels in a store to use on my curtain tie-backs and they just didn't "do it for me", so I guess I will try making my own. Thanks for the inspiration, as always!

I always get the BEST ideas from your blog, thanks Cindy. I went to a little shop that had some cute tassels made from vintage salt and pepper shakers. Wouldn't that be a great use for them when one of the pair gets broken? Keep those creative ideas coming, LOVE YOUR BLOG.

I'm partial to birds so the first one is my favorite. I pulled down a pretty bird ornament from my tree and it's going to be my first tassel.
Thanks for posting the link to the tutorial...never heard of candle cups and sure enought I bought one tonight at ACMoore for .69...
I'll be using the % off coupon to buy a package of 6.
I'll certainly be on the lookout for tassel ornaments.
Love this idea!

Oh No..I can see another creative project for me to work on now for this year. I LOVE things like this and everyone add their own wonderful twists to them.

Your post reminded me that I have a basket of tassely things with some instructions I had put by the way side. Seeing your beautiful creations and those wonderful instructions has inspired me to get going and create some tassels for myself and friends. FYI: I have also made tassels with smaller clay pots too as the base.

I think my fav is your birdsnest one!

Hi Cindy
I just happended to stumble on your site while looking for wedding center pieces for my daughter. Needless to say I got carried away at this beautiful site. I'll certainly check it out better when I get home from work.
I noticed "Lauren" was 16! How strange I was thinking of my sister Lauren today!
I'll be back for sure.
