Yesterday afternoon I jumped in my car and drove about 10 minutes from my little apartment to the town of Los Gatos and parked my car and went for a walk. With Beau's leash in one hand and my camera in the other I walked up and down the streets taking pictures of the beautiful homes to share with you.
Look what I found (below)! This is the first house in my post I did about homes for sale in my area. It's so beautiful but it doesn't have a garage and I think for almost $3 million you should have a garage! When I finished my walk and was heading back to my car they were having an open house...I wanted to go in so badly but I didn't have the nerve, plus I had Beau with me and I'm sure they wouldn't like that!
Around the corner from that house I found this....
My new "dream home"!
My new "dream home"!
Isn't is beautiful! I love the picket fence! Look at the house next door even! You know you're in California with those palm trees everywhere!!! I actually hate palm trees like that!
Below is the house on the other side of my new "dream home" It's under construction.
Let's look at some more homes in this quaint area...
There are a few ranch style homes mixed in....

This was a little cottage behind the main house. So cute!
I even stopped to smell the roses which are still blooming! It was a beautiful day with record-high temps. It was in the low 80s which is really warm for this time of the year!
After I walked around for awhile and Beau was getting tired I headed back to where I thought my car was parked but I couldn't find it!!! I had to go back and rewalk the whole area I just walked to find my car. I need to get a hand-held GPS if I'm going to do this again!

Such a beautiful area. I love the older homes with all the character and uniqueness. I like to drive through Pasadena for that very reason and do as you do. Park and walk. Have a fantastic day and thanks for the walk.
I just LOVE Los Gatos!
We visit there a lot.
Cute Homes (but $$$$$)
Every year, the first week in November, The Museums of Los Gatos sponsors the Historic Homes Tours on Saturday and Sunday, This year it was November 1 and 2, 2008.
Also great shops, and yummy restaurants.
Wish I could live there.
Thanks for the pics!
Hi Cindy,I did enjoy seeing all
those beautiful homes. It's hard to
pick a favorite. Great weather for
you and Beau to take a walk, get
some execise and enjoy all that
beautiful scenery. Thanks, Mimi
Gee, I think I need a bib! I'm drooling so much I really like the one you picked for your dream home. The fence and the arbor and the ROSES. WOW! I hope it is as wonderful on the inside as the outside. Beautiful, beautiful What a place to get lost! I'm with you, though get rid of the palm tree. YUK!

Oooh! I think my dream house (the one under construction) is next to your dream house! Now wouldn't that be fun??? Thanks for the beautiful tour.

Ciao
What a wonderful walk! Thanks for sharing.
Nobody does cuter better than Los Gatos!! I'm happy to say I grew up there and went to Los Gatos High (Go Wildcats!!). My best friend still lives there, so I go visit as much as possible and really love it there!
My husbands family is from Los Gatos. I never had experienced the neighborhood until I met him. Thank you for posting such darling pics♥
Absolutely gorgeous Cindy. What a fabulous post.
Thank you for your comment on my recent post - I'd love to have a new sister!

Cindy,
That was so much fun! A new place for me to want to visit. Guess I am going to need a Bucket List soon.
Janet
Your too cute losing your car. I can just picture you living in that 'new' dream house. I would even take the one behind that is someone's back guest cottage. And Palm trees....i don't like them. Not very romantic and pretty.
Oh these are so pretty! Thanks for the tour.
Great walk! And, I didn't have to exert any energy, but I didn't reap any exercise benefits either. Just the benefit of seeing beautiful homes was enough. Sally
Wow! Wonderful post Cindy! One home more beautiful than the next. That's so funny you got lost:) I'm sure it's not hard to do when being mesmerized by all the surrounding beauty! I can't believe you were able to resist the open house ~ Beau is small enough to carry inside, isn't he? Your dream WILL come true ~ you're doing exactly what "The Secret" says to do.
Love,
Karin
Great pictures and thank you for the tour. I love the older neighborhoods that have been kept up like that - so much more character.
Glenda/MidSuth
Awww very nice! I grew up in Eagle Rock above Colorado Blvd in a home built in 1910 in the Hill Drive area. And these homes made me feel just a little home sick! Thank you for sharing!
~Tam :D
Loved seeing all of these beautiful homes!
Thank you Cindy for taking us all with you on your walk. The prices of homes in that area are out of this world ~ 3 million and no garage? Unbelievable!! Lovely, but still very highly priced.
Blessings,
Sher
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for the tour of those gorgeous homes! I can just imagine what you would do with one of them if you ever were able to get your hands on one. How I would love to be able to decorate one for Christmas! Wouldn't that be fun?? I too love the little guest cottage; I'd be happy with that one!
Blessings,
Sandi
Cindy, beautiful homes and such a nice neighborhood to look at. We live in So. Calif. but in a much more rural area...but I love the homes. Have a blessed day!
Debbie
Hi Cindy..
Beautiful blog and wow love those homes ..how fun ..will be back ~~
Patty
I love the palm trees..maybe I will get a fake one!
Hi Cindy
just catching up with your posts...I love the look of that house and I love going on walks like that, dreaming of beautiful houses, it seems this area you've shown is about as expensive as the one I live in and yes our cottage is in the 'inexpensive' bit!!
I just wonder who buys these places??
Sarah
Oh, what a beautiful area! Thank you for sharing it with us. I liked your new dream house the best of all the homes you photographed. By the way, you are very good at taking photographs!
big treat takes me back, don't you love the Farmers Markets? Go to Santa Cruz again soon puhleeeze
Hi Cindy,
What a nice place to go for a walk but I think you should move to P.E.I.,you could get your dream home so much cheaper!I even know a good place for you to visit and have a cup of tea!
Take care,
Carolyn
I love Los Gatos & would move there in a heartbeat! You should have held Beau & gone into the open house. Have you eaten at the Los Gatos Brewing Co? They're across the street from Williams Sonoma. Their food is so amazing!
What a gorgeous place to take a walk! I've only been to California one time, many years ago. I know it's an expensive place to live. But to get to see the ocean and have that kind of weather. I'm sure if I had it I wouldn't want to trade it! Even if the houses are exorbitant!
Brenda
What Gorgeous homes!! AWWW LOVE em all!! thanks for the tour!!
mands
What a wonderful walk. I loved it. Thank-you for taking us with you.
Ginger
Thank you for the wonderful tour of the fabulous homes. I would have loved any one of them. It snowed here today, so to see blooming flowers and sunshine was a special treat!
Thank you so much for visiting me today and for the well wishes with my move. Amy :)
That is the BEST walk I have had in awhile---and NO sweat!
Thank you for the photo tour. Such lovely homes. Makes me drool. I had to laugh at your getting lost. Easy to do when you forget to pay attention to the street signs. I am glad you found your car though.
Thank you for that wonderful walk... and inspiration... Patty
Oh my gosh.....house eye candy!! When I used to visit Los Gatos back in my 20's, I never appreciated the craftsman style homes that it had. Now, I can really appreciate the structure, gardens, fences, etc. that they have. I used to love going to the Charter House for mud pie - is this restaurant still there?
I have many memories of living in Campbell, most of all when a girlfriend and I were subletting an apartment in Campbell and we went to San Francisco for the day and met these Canadian boys and then they came back with us to Campbell and spent a few days with us......my future husband was one of those boys and we kept in touch for five years after our first meeting in San Francisco and are going on 21 years of marriage! Boy those were the days when you could do things like that and not be afraid that they could be an axe murderer or something!
Anyways, just want to let you know I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog and all the great ideas you have in store!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Rochelle
Such a delightful walk! It was cold here, and my birthday to boot, so going on a walk in warm weather with you was such a nice thing to do!
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful homes with us!! But wow- I can't believe the prices!! I need to post a few of the older homes around our area- There is a beautiful brick with gorgeous woodwork for $150,000- 2 1/2 story with sweet cottage like enclosed yard. It has been vacant so needs work but- gee for the price- -
mary
It was the perfect day here for a walk and the photos of the homes in Los Gatos are just beautiful! I must be in the minority on the palm tree though. I love it! I especially love that there is only one making it just a bit quirky. I don't know how you were able to resist the open house. I'd have had to go in. Did you stop at Icing on the Cake and get yourself and Beau a treat?
Robin, I didn't go to icing on the cake but my friend, Lynn from high school owns that bakery!!!
Thank you for taking us on this lovely walk. I'm like you, could need a GPS too when I'm out. And all those lovely houses.
Hope you have a good day.
Love Elzie
OMGoodness. I LOVE that little place on earth. Whenever I visit my BFF in San Jose, we drive over there. Have you been to the cake place, best lemon cookies ever! Thanks for sharing, I hope to be visiting again in a couple of mo. Laurie
I love Los Gatos!! It's where I go every week for physical therapy at the Bay Area Pain and Wellness Center. It's such a gorgeous area! I'm glad you shared the pics with us because I haven't been able to see the area in a long time since I can't currently drive. The homes are amazing!!
Hugs,
Michele
Such beautiful place.
Alfazema
Gorgeous town with so many character filled homes. So much nicer than cookie cutter subs!
You live in one of the most beautiful areas of the US Cindy. I spent 3 months near that special place many Summers ago...loved it so much. Thank you for taking us along on your walk.
How I wish I could do it, some day, with you...
Love,
Sue
Beautiful houses. I love your house tours. The one under construction is my favorite. I could not deal with having neighbors so very close though. Give me that house with a little land. LOL

Oooooh, they are soooo beautiful. I love that blue house, with the white picket fence and vine-arched entry. That is the perfect looking house for me!
Loved the tour. There's nothing I like better than going into open houses. I don't think there is one home listed in NH for 3 million! Our prices are a lot lower than yours are.
Ummm - still choking to death over the 3 mil. price tag for that tiny home!
Thanks for the tour! All of the houses are very beautiful! So expensive! There is a little town about 30 minutes from my town that has a lot of historical homes. I love to drive through there and take pictures. Next time, I'm gonna park and walk and dream! I know that I will be able to see more by walking. I will post pictures too. There is a blue and brick house that I know you will love. Its one of my favorites, even though I've never been fond of blue houses. Your blue things would look perfect in it. I think that your apartment is just darling! You are so talented!
That was spectacular!! I love to do this same kind of stuff, thanks for the tour.
Have a great week!
Angela
Thanks for the tour, Cindy.
My old hometown and I still love it. That yellow house on Santa Cruz Ave is still a beauty.
I almost felt like I was walking down the street with my grandparents again. You always do the most charming posts.
xo~Tracie
Loved the walk.. thanks for sharing!
Hi Cindy:
What a beautiful area you are in. I love the houses with the white picket fences. Can you imagine what the taxes would be on those homes?
I'm glad you have the guts to take pictures as you walk, I'm always afraid someone will wonder what I am up to. lol.
Ginger
Those homes are just amazing! They are beautiful and so well maintained. I agree with you...that blue house is sweeter than the other house you liked so much! Thanks for sharing these.
Kady
How cute! I wonder what the green stuff is in front the white picket fence in the first foto. Do you know?
Hello Cindy!
Wow, another wonderful walk with you through some darling neighborhoods! I to LOVE the picket fences! Wishing you a wonderful week!
hugs,
Maryjane
What beautiful pictures. I'm a sucker for a picket fence. Nothing says home like that picket fence.
I'm having so much fun catching up with you today, my friend! The last month has been so hard for me, but things are getting better now. I was born in Las Gatos, so I especially enjoy this post! What beautiful homes!
I enjoyed it very, very much. Thanks for those amazing pictures of most amzing houses!!!
Greatings from Germany, Anke
