Some new things

Pin It Now!

Last weekend my mom gave me a huge plastic garbage bag filled with vintage linens and lace. This tablecloth is my favorite thing in there! Oh my gosh...when I pulled this out of the bag I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! It looks like a wedding dress! I think the only hand work on it is the applique edging all the way around the bottom of it but it's still so impressive!

I'm sure wish I could have taken photos of this in natural light because it's so much prettier than these photos show.
I can't believe someone hand-sewed all that applique around the edge. Click on the photo to see it up close.
I included the photo above because I think that may be my last bouquet from my garden for 2008.
She also gave me this linen apron. She bought this in the early 80s so it's not that old but I sure do love it! I think it would look adorable on a vintage type dress form.
Tomorrow I'll show you what I bought at the Santa Cruz Flea Market last Sunday. I spent a whopping $5.00!

That tablecloth and apron are proof that you can decorate beautifully with vintage (and not so vintage) things. Cindy, you have a way of just getting the best out of things.

That tablecloth is beautiful!! The "pyramid" shape of the roses (second photo) reminds me of Christmas trees. Christmas trees made of roses......
(Leave it to me to see something Christmas! ;)

Oh My Dear Miss Cindy,

As sad as it is that you didn't have your memory card in your camera, it's still a funny story. I did something similar back in the late 80's with my Cannon 35 mm camera. I had gone on a road trip by myself in the fall, as was my own "tradition". OK, so a normal roll of film has 24 exposures, but you can sometimes pinch out 27 pictures on a roll. But, I kept shooting pic after pic, and then, when I looked at my camera, it was definitely past 27. I really didn't want to open my camera and expose the roll of film that might be in there, but decided it would be wise to check. Guess what??? No film!!! I spent an entire afternoon out on the road to take pictures of the fall foliage and sights, but felt like such a ninny that I didn't have the basics in my camera. So... don't feel too badly. And it's good that you are going back to take pics again of the B&B where you went. I got a chuckle out of it. Love the pics of the treasures from your Mom.

Hugs,
Penny Sue
