My $5 Silver

Pin It Now!

Saturday my friend Nelson and I went to the Santa Cruz Flea Market. We got there just as everyone was starting to pack up. We quickly went up and down all the aisles and at the very last stall I saw a big pile of flatware. I quickly spotted a beautiful monogrammed silverplate spoon. It was black but I could see the beauty through all the tarnish. I didn't care that it wasn't my initials on it!

I started digging through all the pieces and I found more and more! I ended up finding 6 spoons, 6 forks, 6 knives and a serving spoon. I took my loot up to the hippie (there's a lot of those in Santa Cruz) selling the stuff and asked him how much. I can't tell you how happy I was when he said $5 for all of it!
This ended up being the only thing I bought there but I left very happy!
I'm going to try to post something tomorrow but in case it gets too hectic I want to wish all my U.S. friends a Happy Thanksgiving! Vince is coming tonight and I can't wait to see him!

What a wonderful find!

My silver I'll be using tomorrow was purchased at a garage sale, too.

It belonged to the woman's mother and she sold it for $35.00 because she didn't want to mess with it, anymore.

What are people thinking?

Anyway, those silver pieces are beautiful. Just love the handles!

An amazing find! Love them. Of course, you made them look even more perfect by having them tied together with a beautiful and delicate ribbon and the angle at which you took this photo makes them so desirable I just have to have some beautiful silver and ribbon somewhere in my home. You make things I never thought of something I must have.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Miss Cindy. May your day be overflowing with blessings.

What a terrific buy....you need to do what Martha Stewart does and tell people the monogram is from a dead relative who left you the silver in their will...!

That is so amazing. It's a beautiful pattern. How sad that the family it belonged to had no clue what they had. :( but how wonderful that your home will have it.
