A Really Big Birdcage!

Pin It Now!

I've always wanted one of these mega-sized birdcages but every time I found one they were really expensive...like around $100. Saturday I was on my way to Trader Joe's and decided to stop in at Pier One Imports and I saw this bird cage but I couldn't find a price tag. I asked how much it was and they had to call another store because they didn't know. When he got off the phone, he told me it was $80 and he must have seen the disappointment in my face because he then said "I'll give it to you for $40." I could not believe he said that!!!
It looked big in the store but when I brought it back to my little apartment it looked even bigger...maybe a little too big! I'm going to keep it though because you never know...someday I may be in a bigger home and I can picture this on a wrap-around porch with some white wicker furniture and some big beautiful hanging ferns....I'm such a dreamer.

Hi Cindy. I've been spying the very same birdcage at Pier 1, and I keep waiting for the price to drop. I recently bought a $100 planter box there for only $7.50, so there's hope. How great that you got it for $40! I'll have to head to Pier 1 again soon!

"But, Cindy got it for $40 at her Pier 1," said with a forlorn pout.

I love it! I might have to make a stop at Pier 1 on my way home today.

I have been wanting a nice birdcage...
I already have the wrap around porch and wicker furniture!

I am planning a Pier One trip soon!
The nearest one is about 2 hours from my home but if I can find a cage as pretty as that it is worth the trip!

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful birdcage! I LOVE Pier 1! I recently bought two soft green wrought iron bistro chairs for $17.10 each on clearance from there. They are so much fun on my front porch.

It is truly beautiful. What a lucky break to get it for $40, it is your good karma giving back. MB

Cindy - that is so pretty!! I have a white birdcage that's similar in style, but much smaller that I keep it on top of my corner TV hutch in our living room... And then I have a teensy one that same color and style that's on top of the mirrored cabinet that sits on my dining room jelly cupboard. I just love birds and birdcages, too! What a deal the clerk cut for you!! That certainly doesn't happen every day ... Enjoy your bidhouse - it is beautiful!!!!!...Donna

Cherish your dreams, Cindy!! If you don't dream them and plant those seeds way down in your heart, they can't flourish!! You WILL have that lovely home with the wrap around porch, I just know it! Lynn

Of course you need to keep it if you love it. You never knows what's ahead for you. I have wall to wall furniture in my home. More than my little house should have. But I can't part with them because they are all pieces that I want. I'd rather believe that I may have room for them someday.

Cindy,
That is gorgeous! Just a note: the stores are really needing sales so they will negotiate almost anything. (At least the higher end stores.)

That birdcage would look great at a wedding reception for the gift cards!

Cindy, Fall is here and some white pumpkins piled inside your birdhouse would look great maybe on a bed of natural color raffia.
Have fun with it! No it's not too big. Yes white pumpkins and a big fat white candle holder with a big white fat candle on the outside of the cage. Cute fall look! Sharon

Cindy, lovely bird cage. I personally think that subconsciously you are finding all those lovely items for that lovely home you are dreaming about.
This quote came to mind as I was writing to you.
We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the
soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

Blessings and keep dreaming,

Hi Cindy,
I love the birdhouse. It will be wonderful on that porch one day. There is a scripture, Luke 16:10 and I have seen it tried and true. If you are faithful in the little things then God can trust you with the bigger things.
You will see your dream. You have taken the home that you have and made it a thing of beauty. He see!

This post is old news, but today is the first day I'm reading it.

I love this birdcage, it was meant to be yours if you got it for such a wonderful price, and HELLO??? IT's WHITE!! You didn't even have to paint it! The universe knew it was in your heart to have one, and it opened up the opportunity for you. Don't ever get rid of it, it's clear that the birdcage is meant to go somewhere in your life; and I think it's for your next, bigger home.

How exciting!

Great Bird Cage,... I believe you could put a Christmas tree in it! (giggles)Really it is quite lovely.

I recently Rediscovered Pier 1. It has been in my town for a few years now, but I never had the interest in going until the other day. Now, I can't wait to go back! They have some really great items, love their dishware.

I was a child of the 70's and remember being D-R-A-G-G_E-D into Pier 1 by my mother. I remember her buying dried bouquets of straw flowers, wicker furniture, and a Big Ol' Budha! ha!
Boy have times changed!

Sorry to trail off on that----

Hi Cindy
me again Sandee. I left a comment two days ago and just want to say....guess what I got? I went down the very next day and it was posted as $80.00. I told the clerk the storie of someone getting it for $40.00> She said come back tomorrow and speak to the manager. I did and she still only wanted to 15% off...I continued to whine and cry,,,oh but it a summer item it should be 50% off. She finally said yes. Again thanks for info.
