Making Progress

Pin It Now!

Here are a couple things that are still works in progress. I finally started working on this chair last weekend. You can see the before picture below. If I remember correctly I think I only paid $15 for this at a flea market. I bought the blue linen fabric at a thrift store awhile back, 4 yards for $4.99. I'm still not finished with it, I need to add the trim around the edge to hide where I stapled the fabric on. I had second thoughts on the trim I had bought to do this (too bright) so I'm going to be looking for something better this week. This was the first time I've ever done upholstery like this and I was surprised...it wasn't too hard! Also, below you can see one of the wreath appliques that I've added to the small china cabinet. The reason there is only one is because sometimes I do really stupid things and this was one of those times! I only ordered one!!! I have no idea what I was thinking but I put in another order and I finally got the second one yesterday so now I can finish this up. I've painted it a light gray and next I'm going to glaze over it with a french blue and then I'm going to antique it. I sure hope it turns out how I'm imagining it! Below are the "before" photos of both these items.

Well another fine job you did my dear.

I love the grey with the chair and armoire. It gives it a different but not to harsh different appeal.

I am using more grey since I started visiting the french sites. Although they prefer to call it zinc.

Love it......

Cindy - I just LOVE what you do! You have inspired me to decorate our bedroom in blue and white.(plates, dutch tile, blue and white bedding, etc.) I haven't been able to get away with a romantic look in all areas of my home, but my hubbers seems to be able to handle the blue and white stuff! So, I took advantage! Love, Esther

Amazing transformation! I am so inspired with you, because you have a gift to see the beauty in things. I would never bought that chair in the first place. Now after the "Cindy touch" it is magnificent, non recognizable. I believe that you have choose your profession wrongly.

Have a wonderful week. Suzy

The chair looks great as well as the armoire. You are brave to tackle such a big piece of furniture. I am going to go back and read your sidebar instructions on painting furniture, and see if I can get the courage to try it.
Great prices on all your "finds" too.

Connie, It's machine embroidery. If you go down to my Sept. 17th post you will see more about it. You'll have to click on the link in that post to see more photos.
