It's not finished but...

Pin It Now!

I just had to share how the cabinet looks so far. I'm still waiting for the furniture appliques to arrive. There will be a rose swag at the top and a wreath applique on the bottom of each door.
I need to get a piece of glass for the middle shelf but luckily my large silver tray fits in there for now. I put my dried hydrangeas in the picnic basket I painted awhile back and I like the way they look on top of the cabinet.
As you can see, I cannot possibly fit another piece of furniture in this little apartment. I'm sure I must hold the record for the most furniture in this place since it was built in 1969!!!
Someone left me a comment yesterday with a link to a craigslist ad of somebody selling this same cabinet and theirs was also painted white! They were asking $250 so I think I got a great deal for $50!!!
One more thing...some of you said you can't see my new blue background. If you are one of them can you let me know what Internet browser you are using (Netscape, FireFox, etc.). I'm just curious if it's because of a specific browser. Thanks!

LOVE it!!! Everything in it looks perfect! Thought you were going to put it in the corner in your bedroom?

Whoa! I thought I was in the wrong place when I first clicked on your blog! LOL! I have to say I was very fond of your old blog layout/look (easy to read & very visually appealing to me) so it will take a little time for this "old dog" to adjust to this "new trick." :D The blue & white damask-looking border is really pretty.

The hutch is just as beautiful as I imagined it would be after your magic touch. And I completely understand what you mean about fitting an abundance of furniture in a small space. I have the same problem--so much so that I've had to stop looking at furniture on Craigslist because it makes me really sad when I see inexpensive pieces that would look great with a makeover but yet I know I don't have room for one more thing.

Oh Cindy, you have made this into a treasure! I can't believe how beautiful it is now. The appliques will only make it more beautiful.

Great job, once again! What did you do with the piece that was there though? Was that your birdcage table???

I think it looks great.

But, since you didn't put this in your bedroom I think you still have room for at least one more piece! LOL

Joanne

Oh my goodness its so pretty! I wish I could tour your apartment! I have gotten myself in trouble with too much furniture from Craigs List and then making time to finish up the projects...I know that once they are done I'll have some great pieces. Can't wait to see your next project!

Wow. I can really kick myself right now. I kept driving by a home with one of these cabinets(but larger) sitting on the porch with a for sale sign. I should have stopped to find out how much. Your cabinet is awsome. I'm sure you enjoy coming home from work and being surrounded by all your wonderful creations.

It looks Gorgeous!!!! Love it.

Oh, and if you go to Tap plastics, you can get a plexiglass shelf and it would be much less expensive! I had to do that for the refrigerator. The big glass shelf shattered one day while I was cleaning it.....

Very nice!

Cindy, someone once told me that my apartment was cluttered and I looked around and could not for the life of me see what he was talking about. I was very comfortable in my surroundings and after seeing how he lived I could see why he was uncomfortable with all my stuff. He barely had anything in his home. To each his own. I know if I came to visit you in your home I would feel comfy and cozy in your surroundings. In my eyes and it seems in everyones eyes who have commented your home is perfectly lovely.
Hugs, Patty.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you have the items displayed. Makes me want to go look for a cabinet and paint it white. The new look for your blog is beautiful too. It's blue on my screen. The old look was beautiful too, but I know it is fun to have a change now and then.

How is it that even though you say you have a little apart with lots of furniture, your apartment just gets prettier? I love where you put it. And a perfect height with the stairs. My bonnet off to you. I can't believe the light in there. GORGEOUS! Wendy

The new cabinet looks beautiful, I knew it would and you certainly didn't disappoint!

The last few days I have been on my laptop and I did not see the new layout or any of your posts since the hydrangeas when I checked your site, but today I'm on my desktop and I see I missed a lot! Either way, I use Firefox so the browser is probably not the problem.

It looks fabulous! I cant believe it was only $50, and it has a light! You just have to be in the right place at the right time, how lucky are you!
I love the blog, though I liked your other one better, Im not good with changes!
My home would be a close second to yours, it is overloaded, and there are 5 of us, and my hubby is in a wheelchair! I just cant help it, I sell things on ebay, but when I do them up, I want to keep them for a while, crazy!

I don't care how much furniture you get in that apartment, it still looks beautiful. You can pull it off, Cindy. So don't worry about it. If we're not surrounded by the things we love, then it's not a home. It's not really the four walls; it's the stuff inside it that makes it our home.

LOVE it....was the 'panel' look on the bottom painted on or real and how did you cover or didn't you?

I love where you put the knobs it balances much better that way.

Thanks again for all the inspiration.

If I can live through waiting for the 'sellers' to accept/counter our offer I can get to work on MY projects.

Did you paint your table and your chairs also? What kind of paint do you use? You don't spray them do you?

So pretty! It looks like my Aunt Maggie's big white victorian home. As children, we would always shy away from going over because we were scared we would break something but she always had homemade cookies on hand to offer us... which were made with real butter and vanilla so we always went and sat very still. It was well worth it. (:

Do your kids live with you?

Hi again Cindy,

I saw your question on my blog (thanks for looking!) about the problem I had seeing your page from my laptop - I could see it, but it appeared to be frozen in time on the Hydrangea post from a couple days ago, there were no new posts or comments and it was the old layout. I use Firefox on both PCs, but I just realized that I updated to the new version on my desktop, but not on my laptop, so maybe it has something to do with that? I will try updating and see if that works.

No, Cindy. I think the new page is stark, plain and cold. I loved your OLD homey blog look so much better but well, to each their own. If you like it, that is all that really matters. Right?

By the way- that 4th picture (enlarged) looks like there is a victorian womans ghost in the window. Can you see it too?

I couldn't help laughing after reading the post some days ago about Frosty. That person must have come far from it's own interests when she even takes the time to comment on something she dislikes. Too much time to spend at the computer it seems LOL.

Lovely cabinet. Yes, it seems you've got enough of furnitures in your home now. But it doesn't seem overcrowded.

Hope you have a nice weekend.
