Recent purchases

Pin It Now!

A few of you asked if I bought anything at the shop I showed you yesterday. No, I didn't because I have been trying to cut down on my spending. I have made a few small purchases though. These little bunnies above came from a thrift store. They were $2.99 each and I just had to have them. They have a "Made in Japan" sticker on the bottom so I'm thinking they are probably from the 1960s or older. Lauren called me at work yesterday, she had just noticed them sitting up on the shelf with my chintz and she said they were scary looking with their pink eyes! I think they are cute! I'll probably put them away until Easter though.
This planter above I bought at a vintage shop that was having a big close out sale and I think I got this for $7.00. I love all those roses!

After seeing Carolyn's beautiful green picnic basket I knew I wanted to find one to paint also. I lucked out and found this one for only $5.00 at the first thrift store I went to. I've already painted it but haven't had a chance to take a photo of it yet so I'll show you that next week!
I found this to add to my Christmas Village collection. I have a few Dept. 56 pieces and some cheaper ones. This one is marked Dickens Collectibles on the bottom but I'm not sure if it is a Dept. 56 piece or not. Mine are packed away so I can't compare the marks on the bottom. It doesn't really matter if it is or not, I still like it and for $5.00 it was a great deal!

I have the rabbit that is standing upright! I've had it since I was a kid. I'm 52 years old, so you are probably about right on the age of it. I don't know how old I was when I got it but I loved it and kept it.

I love baskets like that! I have probably 7-10 of them holding my craft and sewing supplies. I always pick them up when I see them!

I have a couple of rabbits that look like the ones you found, only larger. I put them out at Easter with a bow around their necks. They are so darn cute.
I also collect Dept56 Christmas villages. They are on my wish list each Christmas.
You have the cutest shops close by to shop at!!!

I like your new purchases. I understand about wanting to cut down on purchases. I just started homeschooling and have not done any shopping since. I told my husband I thought he wanted me to homeschool so I would not shop anymore. LOL (I was kidding when I said it). Anyways porcelian flowers are so sweet and vintage. I try to look out for those. Have a great ALMOST weekend.

I happen to like the rabbits, scary eyes or not! (That's how teenaged girls are, Cindy... I raised two of them.) As long as you like it, that's all that counts. Maybe by the time Easter comes around, she'll be in a different phase.

So funny, but they are cute anyway. You found some great items at good prices, too. I'm sure you will give them all a good home.

I loved the outside shot of that little shop, and "need" that little white cabinet! Wish I was nearby to go get it.

Maybe you could paint the rabbits eyes a different colour for Lauren, I must say any animals with pink eyes do look scary to me too.

I also have the same bunnies. My mom bought them for me when I was a teenager so I've had them for years and years and years too. She also bought me a set of little yellow chicks that I also put out at Easter. They look great. You have some wonderful finds! I love the Dickens Collectible. My BFF started me on a Dickens collection this past Christmas. They are all beautiful and you got an incredible buy!!

Lol at what Lauren said! I would have said the same thing when I was her age. But the bunnies are too cute even with their pink eyes. You find the best stuff !

Hi- I'm new!
Love the bunnies.
They were in my Easter basket in 1962. They survived many moves until they were broken in (what I hope) my last move in 1999. I would definately buy a set if I ran into them again!

I love cottages & the cottage decorating style. It's just simple, clean living....
