Wisteria Antiques & Design - Soquel, California

Pin It Now!

Yesterday Lauren and I went to the beach but not to walk in the sand...TO SHOP AND EAT! I bribed her with a seafood dinner so she would go with me! There are some great antique shops near Santa Cruz and this is one of the best. Wisteria Antiques & Design located at 5870 Soquel Dr, Soquel, California. It's not just antiques, they have a huge nursery with gorgeous plants! I made sure it was okay that I took pictures and after they questioned me about what they would be used for they gave me the okay. Let's look around:
There are a few rooms filled with French Country Antiques and decor items. I LOVED this slipcovered sofa below. I think this would look great in my apartment!

Here's another room...

Back outside to walk in the pea gravel...I love pea gravel pathways!
On the porch...
Here is the 3rd room... This is a beautiful outdoor room...

I loved this geranium planted in a piece of driftwood!
I love this lantern below. I think it would look great in my patio but it was too expensive for me!

This is their entrance. It's breathtaking!
The begonias were so beautiful!

I was really good, I was able to restrain myself and I only bought two things. I bought this donkey tail plant. My mom had one of these when I was growing up and it was HUGE. You couldn't even see the pot, it hung down a couple feet! I just have it hanging from my patio umbrella for now.
I couldn't resist this beautiful begonia. It looks great on my patio table.

Here's a closeup view... After shopping here, Lauren I went to the Santa Cruz Wharf for dinner and sat in front of a window looking out over the ocean. It was a great afternoon!

Holy Moly! What an awesome place. A person could get lost in there for days with all the stuff to look at. So glad you and Lauren had a nice mother/daughter afternoon.

P.S. Still hoping you will elaborate more this week on the HGTV filming experience.

Flowers, antiques, a beautiful day, good companionship, and a seafood dinner overlooking the ocean.

Throw in some chocolate, and that about sums up my idea of a perfect day!!

That looks like some fabulous shopping! What a great shop! Did Lauren enjot the shopping as much as the seafood dinner?
Thanks so much for sharing!

Oh my goodness, isn't it wonderful to be able to visit such beautiful places? That's a "shop" I could simply spend all day in with a good book and a comfy seat...and the sound and crunch of pea gravel under my feet...well, that's ALMOST as sweet to my ears as my daughter's laughter! God's simply amazing in all His creations and beauty, isn't HE?

Cindy,

First of all, congratulations on HGTV! Your home is lovely and I wanted to ask you to stop by my blog someday soon. I've posted photos of a cabinet I repainted using your valuable tips. I got it for $5.00 at an auction - my best buy ever!

I love the sofa in that store! Would love it in my home, but its made for yours!

Cindy - your photos are awesome - what a neat place!!
I have been thinking about putting a pea gravel walkway in my back yard - my yard is just a blank canvas and I don't know what to do with it.
Glad you and Lauren had a nice afternoon together.

Oh, my goodness! What a great place. That's not far form Brookdale which is where hubby and I were married 40 years ago. We're thinking of taking couple day trip next week and that looks like it would just fit the bill. We could also visit the "scene of the crime", although the chapel burned down shortly after we were married! LOL!

My DH and I visit that shop often as we love to also hit the beach in Aptos. I adore that store but it can be pricey for us. However, we still love it and always manage to pick up a small treasure.

I love Wisteria, too. I just visited and wrote a post about it as well. I wish I could redo my porch with a Wisteria-inspired look. Love the statuary!

Anonymous said...

This is truly inspirational & uplifting. In truth, the antiques are in four buildings that were once a farm, owned by a family in Aptos. The home is still lovely, with out-buildings as well as an old greenhouse. The Gardens are actually part of the partnership of APTOS GARDENS with the separate business of WISTERIA ANTIQUES. The gardens surround all the buildings and you meander down the pathways among arbors, statuary, fountains, and some really unique plants. Like the antiques, the plants found here are suited to this unique area. I go just to give myself a lift in my heart! As far as cost goes, they are very fair & the quality is very good. Save up & come to buy something really wonderful for yourself, a friend, or family... :)

I'm a little confused. I understood that Wisteria had closed. We were devastated...not an exaggeration!
We've been making the day trip to Wisteria AND Gayle's for many years. Food for the mind and soul at Wisteria and food for the tummy at Gayle's.
Gayle's is off Hiway 1 on Porter in Capitola. It's a perfect way to spend an easy day. We're going back to Wisteria to check on a fountain and try not to buy too many flowers. SO happy I was wrong about Wisteria being gone. It's a truly beautiful place to be.

Came to visit for the first time last May 2010 with my mother in law who is no longer with us. She bought me the most beautiful tablecloth and now everytime I use it I remember the wonderful afternoon we spent togeher walking through your beautiful gardens! This is a very special place.
