Weekend Project

Pin It Now!

I was able to pick up the table and chairs in my car!  I took the legs off the table, put down my back seat and slide it in through the hatch back.  It's amazing how much you can fit in a Camaro! I had to make 2 other trips to get the chairs.   Here are the arm chairs which I won't have room for at the end of the table because my dining room is too small.  I'm going to keep them on each side of the hutch.  I'm stripping the finish off the table now.  I dread painting six chairs but I can't wait to see how they are going to look painted white!  I'm going to replace the gold velvet covers with a soft blue and white toile.  I still need to distress the hutch...too many projects and not enough time!
I sold my old dining room table this morning for the same price as my new table!  My former sister-in-law bought it!  I'm so happy!

Hi Cindy! This is going to be gorgeous in white! The blue and white toile is going to just take it over the top to outstanding! Can't wait to see the finished pictures! I have been sitting in my family room hating the decor and since visiting your blog for the first time yesterday am thinking it is time for me to go to my true style - romantic country cottage! My husband gave me that "oh no not again" look when I said the wallpaper has been up for 4 years(a record for me) and that it was driving me nuts! He likes it. I'll just wait till he is at work and he won't even miss it?lol Don't work too hard. I could never have fit anything like this in either of the 2 camaros I owned!lol

I am so happy for you that you got the table and chairs that you wanted. You are soon going to run out of things to refinish! I also just love the cozy look of your kitchen.

I have some old Eastlake chairs that I want to redo, but their padding is shot. They were sitting in an attic for years, and mice got into them. The frames and spring are fine. I am thinking of putting in a solid bottom and covering them with handmade cushions. I am with you in the blue and white bit. I found a look I want to copy for the chairs--white with blue detailing along just part of the carving, and blue cushions. Some people find white and blue to be too cold, but I think of that combo as a crisp and clean look.

I really look forward to the transformation of your new set. I hope that you will post the details for us so that we learn more about how to turn yard sale finds into heirlooms. You have taught me a lot about this art, and your blog is now my favourite website.

Thank you.

That is wonderful. I'm glad you got your other table sold so quickly. I can't wait to see your new table and chairs when they are done. I saw an ad on HGTV today for the new show "Rate My Space". The premier is
June 15th. Be sure to let us know when you're going to be on....

What pretty chairs! I am so glad the set was still there when you went back. Those caneback chairs can be so expensive.

Those really will look pretty painted white and with different cushions! That's very cool that you were able to sell your old table for the same cost you bought this set! Almost like getting a free table and chair set! Well, except for all the work, but it will be beautiful.

Whooooo Hooooo! I was so happy when I clicked on your blog link and saw a new chair pop up first! I knew what you had done girlfriend! I had to laugh about how you got the table home. I've done that myself, and in much smaller cars than yours...I drive a Miata! When I zero in on something I want, my motto becomes "I will NOT be stopped"!!! Good going Miss Cindy! Can't wait to see the after photos. I am sure it will be stunning. Have fun with your project. xoxo ~ Joy

So now I have to ask. What time did you get to bed on Saturday ? Or did you get to sleep ?

I am still up because my puppies got into chocolate while I was gone. And off to the emergency vet's I went.
If you can do the table and chairs in the entire weekend I need to know your secret. I took me one week to do one chair.

I am so happy you were able to get your dream full filled with the set. And then to sell what you had.

Ciao
Glenda

Cindy,

so glad you were able to get that lovely set. I had seen cane chairs painted white, and they are so pretty. My hubby has a teal colored camaro, and it does indeed have lots of room in the back. I feel like I am on a skateboard though when I drive it! LOL!
