Getting ready for HGTV!

Pin It Now!

As most of you are aware, HGTV is coming on Friday to shoot video of my amoire as an inspiration piece for a new HGTV show called "Rate My Space".  They will probably just be showing my armoire but being the type of person I am (prepared, perfectionist, obsessive, anal retentive, crazy, etc.) I thought I should make the dining room table look pretty just in case the camera sways in that direction.  Which table setting do you like better?  Please vote below.

Good luck with HGTV, I voted for the floral pattern table setting. Looks great with the room. I'm sure you will do fine. Just take a deep breath.

I can't wait to hear all about you being on TV!!! I love both table settings, but seeing as my home is done in a beachy decor, my vote is for the sea shell theme. Have fun being filmed!!

Both are so nice, but I voted for the sea shell. Either one you set, it will look beautiful. Good Luck!

Honestly I prefer a simple table with the tiered cake stands on a table cloth on a runner. And no dishes. It doesn't look so busy. I voted without place settings.

I just think it looks like your trying to hard. It just my opinion.

Good luck.

Cindy, I know you must be so excited you could pop.

I voted for the shell setting, even though I do adore the floral motif, too. I just think the shells show a bit of a different look that still ties in to the feel of your home so well.

I agree with Beverly. Although both settings are beautiful, I think the sea shell theme is more unique and shows your creative side better. And, hey, if its beautiful, they just might film it, too, so I'd definitely decorate away!!! Good Luck!!!

I voted for the first one. I always lean toward the fancy and elegant. And the blue & white look elegant to me. I am going to go to Marshalls & see if they have any of those dishes at my store.Good luck on your TV debut, you will be fabulous! Can't wait to see it ! Come see me sometime!

I totally agree with Glenda. Don't set the table. It's too much.

What a tough decision! Both settings are beautiful! I voted for the shells...very creative! Best of luck on Friday!

I agree, both are lovely, but the sea shells are creative, different without being too different, and adds texture without too much color.

Good luck.

Hello Cindy,
I have to say that I voted for the flower plates, I just love that set, but as I can see I have been out voted. They are both pretty. Have fun while they are filming. Maybe you could take pictures of them filming.
I hope you will be able t sleep this week!
Take care,

Both are beautiful, but I'm partial to the shell theme for this time of year! Hope the filming goes great and I might just have to get cable TV so I can see the show, as I 'm addicted to RMS.

Well, I did vote for the seashell theme, but it was not an easy choice, as they are both beautiful.
I can't wait to see and hear about your HGTV filming. Hope you had a great weekend!
By the way has the smoke cleared? I've thought so much about poor Lauren and her problems with breathing in that.

I love both settings. I think the sea shells is very unique, and I voted for that theme. By the way Cindy, somehow I accidentally had both the sea shell them and neither selected when I cast my vote. So that 1% for neither, is not accurate. Sorry, don't know how I did that. Can't wait to hear the details when they come out to film your home.

wow Cindy! I love the home you've made. I have just posted about my life long dream of having a cottage. I know what that's like...so this post could be specially for you!

YES, somehow it happened for me (I still can't believe it) and could for you too. love and best wishes...Pam

It is amusing to me that all of us are voting for a decorated table; I guess those of us who love your romantic home also appreciate a lovely tablescape! I can't wait to hear about your HGTV experience. You must run to your computer to tell us all about it as soon as the cameras leave!

I voted for the seashell theme. I think it looks great and does show your creative side. Great for this time of year too. I know you must be beside yourself with excitment!
I can't wait to see the show!

I voted for your seashells. Loved the whole setting. Good luck.

They're both beautiful, but the second one might be more creative. Good luck and have fun!

Greetings from Spain,

Cindy,
Since my apartment is done in a ocean/sea theme, I had to go with the seashells. Just something about it makes me feel like I'm home. xxoo

The sea shell theme is really lovely for summertime, but then those rose-patterned china pieces are pretty year round.
It all looks beautiful!

My vote was for the floral setting (I'm not really a beachy person), but I'm sure your table will look great no matter what you decide to do.

Hope it goes well!!

Hi Cindy! I usually lurk around here, but I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate you on being chosen for HGTV! I can't wait to see ya on the little screen lol! I'ts refreshing to see someone without a trillion dollars...but lots of design style being featured in such a big way. Makes my heart smile! Vanna

I pick the shells because the setting is so different and unique.

I know we all would like to see some candid shots of you and the HGTV crew while they are filming. Do you know somebody that can be there to take just a few pictures for you so you can post them for us to see before the show?

Kathy said...

Hi Cindy: Best of luck with HGTV. I am looking forward to seeing it. One question to you or anyone else who sees this...where do I buy the plate racks to hang the antique plates that I find at thrift shops? I would like to hang three plates on both sides of a mirror. Thanks.

Cindy said...

Kathy, the plate hangers can be found at most hardware stores. I get mine at Michaels Craft store.

Anonymous said...

Dear Cindy, I just voted for the floral plates but I like the other one, too. I think if you added a few things to the plates (maybe some of your roses in little vases?) Just make it a little busier. That's just me. Good luck on the filming. Really, everything will be fine.

Anonymous said...

I would do the seashells but I would swap out the white salad plate for the patterned one in the second setting. Best of both worlds!

Both are gorgeous ~ good luck!!

Cindy,

Both tables are amazing, but I cast my vote for the floral plates because I think they fit your overall "Romantic Home" theme the best. They are both classic and elegant.

I can't wait to hear how the shoot went! Keep us posted.

This is so exciting !!! I placed
my vote for the sea shell setting.
Although I love both, the shells are perfect for this time of year.
I know the preparations will be done to perfection and beatiful
results as always. It's easy to
say take it easy and relax, but I
know how I would be. We are all so
proud and happy for you.

Altho I love both settings, I voted for the sea shell one...looks more IN, i think.

Ok, I voted for the shells because they are just striking. If I were you, however, (being anal retentive myself) I would get out the video camera and pretend to be the HGTV camera crew. Set the table both ways and tape the same shots (panning from living room armoir to glance into the dining room, etc)- then watch them on your vcr/dvd and see which one looks best on camera! It may be the final kicker in your decision making.
Are you nervous? I had butterflies in my stomach just reading that they are coming to your home... I can not imagine how you must be feeling. Your home is absolutely beautiful though so you have nothing to worry about!
-Heather :)

I am so excited for you! I would be having so much anxiety right now if I were you! I would constantly be changing things and moving things around because it would never be perfect enough for HGTV!! But you have NOTHING to worry about! Your place looks absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change a thing! Love the seashell theme by the way!

Hi Cindy,
Since I'm not good at making decisions and they both look pretty, why don't you use a mix of both, a few seashells and the pretty dishes, I think it is all beautiful! LOL. OH Decisions-Decisions. Good Luck, I'm so excited for you, I have to tell you, everytime I see the commercial for the show your going to be on, I make my husband stop and look, telling him, LOOK,LOOK thats the show she is going to be on !! He probably thinks I'm nuts, but he knew that before he married me. Hugs, Kelly
