This is now my favorite rose! It's a climbing rose called "Eden". I just planted it this year after seeing some gorgeous photos of this rose. It's so old-fashioned and romantic! It's scent is very light. As you can see in the photo below, it's still very small. I can hardly wait until it starts climbing the arbor. My hydrangeas are starting to bloom too!
This one below is called "Endless Summer" and is supposed to continue to bloom throughout summer. Usually hydrangeas only bloom once and when the flowers die back that's it until the next year.
My gardenia's are blooming and filling my patio with a beautiful fragrance. Although today all I can smell is smoke. There is a huge wild fire that started yesterday on the mountain close to my home. The wind shifted during the night and I woke up this morning to the smell of smoke! It's so smokey that the sun is not even shining through it. Once I got to work I couldn't believe the difference. The sun is out and you can barely smell it. What a difference 13 miles makes! I feel bad for Lauren, she has asthma and the smoke was really heavy at her school.
These delphiniums were doing great until the wind whipped up yesterday (which also was horrible for the wild fire) and broke one of the two stalks I had.
Here is the view of the delphinium from inside my apartment. you can see the delphinium stalks on each side of the plaque on the fence.
And here is my tomato plant. I took this photo last weekend and I can't believe how much it has grown since then. Mmmm....I can just taste those tomato sandwiches!
I hope you all have a great weekend!

I couldn't believe how quickly that fire grew! Last weekend we had several, close by...we were on edge. I hear that some blessed fog moved in overnight & this morning which is helping them get a handle on it. I'll take hail over fire any day!
That rose belongs on the cover of
"Victoria"!
M ^..^
You have done a wonderful job in a small place. I am sure the flowers bring you joy.
Hope Lauren will be Ok, with the smoke.
Have a wonderful loooooong weekend.
Ciao
Glenda
Hello Cindy and Happy Friday! I'm so sorry to hear about the fire! Well...your beautiful flowers are some of the prettiest I've seen...they are just gorgeous!!! I would just adore being able to have gardenias...but it's much too cold for that gentle beauty where I live...same with the hydrengaes! Have a lovely weekend!!! Warmest wishes...Chari
Hello Cindy,
I have a Eden rose as well and I love it. Mine has not bloomed yet.It is in a pot I wonder if that's why. Thank-you for sharing your garden it is just as beautiful as the inside of your home.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend,
ginger
Thank you for an enjoyable walk through your garden.
Your flowers are so pretty. I wish it would warm up out here so we can get our gardens and flowers going this year.
I am so sorry to hear about the fires and the heavy smoke. I will keep you in my prayers especially your dd as I know how badly smoke affects people with asthma. I have two little ones that have it bad so I know for sure.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.
Hi Cindy,
I really enjoyed your beautiful
flowers.It is so fulfilling to
plant and watch them grow and
bloom. Nature's colors are mag-
nificent. I especially love your
Eden rose. I just planted a Con-
federate Jasmine...I think it's
going to make it. I can already
get the fragrance.
So sorry about the fire, heard a-
bout it on the news.Hope Lauren
will be okay.
Hope you have a great Memorial Day
weekend and be safe. Mimi
Have a wonderful weekend too. Your garden may be small - but it is big in beauty!

Hi Cindy,
My hydrangeas are blooming too.
Your rose is beautiful.
Enjoy it.
Have a grea weekend,
Rosemary
Your blooms are glorious. And, I will be having a tomato sandwich for dinner tonight. Yum!
Hon, you sure have a beautiful apartment! You are one of the most creative and resourceful women I have ever encountered. I've been looking back at the photos of your blog from long ago, and you're just amazing! Also, I've been going into Marshalls lately. You're so right about them!

I long for a rose garden or at least a climbing rose bush over my arbor, but alas I have no green
thumb and im terrified of spiders so I dont do much in the yard.
smiles,
Sandy
Cindy what gorgeous flowers you have in your garden. The rose is so pretty.

I'm happy to hear that the fire isn't closer to you. The tragedy of the CA fires this year are incredible. I grew up in Arcadia which was right by the Sierra Madre fire they had recently. Our family friends said it was frightening. Be safe.
Your flowers look beautiful :)
hugs,
rue
I love "Eden" too.I have one as well as a climber'New Dawn' that is similiar to Eden. I love the way you plant as if it is your own place and not just a rental. That is living isn't it to have all these beauties around you.
That is such a pretty rose! Your other flowers are lovely as well!
What a great apartment you have!
Hi Cindy! Everytime you show these things I just think your landlord has to love you. To have someone care for an apartment as if it were her own home is wonderful. Your flowers are absolutely beautiful.
I hope the fire and smoke clear and you have a great holiday weekend.

We have the same taste in plants. I just planted some in my front yard yesterday and Im so glad it rained. I think they are smiling back at me. Nice to meet you, Susie H
Your pink roses are just beautiful. They are the prettiest pink.
I am new to your blog, enjoyed the experience. I can't remember what path I took to get here, sometimes I meander around just following the favorites of others. Your blog was on two others I visited. Small web at times isn't it.
I've been looking for a pretty climbing rose tree. Yours is beautiful!
Do you have any hints on how to take care of roses? When to plant them and so on?
Thanks
Joanne
Your flowers are breathtaking. I wondered if the fire was near any blogging friends. Take care.xorachel
Beautiful flowers and view from your apartment window. I love the rose you mentioned and what a great photo!

Hi Cindy,
AHH so sweet. I love the roses! So sorry about the fires, we have been dealing with them here in FL. too. The smell is horrible, the everglades were on fire here, it burned nearly 40,000 acres and we had a west wind which blew all the smoke our way, YUK. Take care.
Kelly
SO pretty! I can't wait till we start blooming here!!! Jen R
so sorry to hear about the fire... your pictures of your flowers are so so pretty.. gardenias...swoom love their fragrance !
You are a bit ahead of us in the Washington DC area. My hydrangeas are still budding but some of the roses are blooming. Lovely landscaping-- and photos.
One of my Eden rose bushes is over 7' tall & I just love it! My favorite is bouquets of hydrangeas's in the house as soon as I have enough to start cutting. Your patio is beautiful as is everything else you do! Jeanette
Gorgeous, I'm having a party, come visit! Rachael
I can't grow hydrangeas where I live so I will come to live through your blog this growing season. The roses are so lovely, I can almost smell them.
I love all the beauty from your garden.
Love and blessings.
A most gorgeous journal
Jeanne
Cindy I so hope you are safe from the fires! Your photos are gorgeous as is your garden. The rose photo is exquisite. xoxo

Have a great weekend!
Good Morning Cindy, Always read your wonderful blog! You have both a lovely home & garden!! Enjoy your Sunday!...Heidi :)
I love visiting you! I stop by almost everyday. Hope they get that fire put out. Your flowers are gorgeoso! We are getting ready to move, so no flowers for me this year, thank goodness I have yours to enjoy!
Beautiful blooms!
beautiful garden on your way to M.V. this summer?
Thank you so much for mentioning your Eden rose. I've been trying to remember what my climber is and it's an Eden, too. I just love it. It was blooming just beautifully (see my blog) and then one day we had 100+ degree weather followed by 40 mph winds and there she went. All the rest of the buds dried. I'm going to have to give her some TLC and she'll be back, better than ever.
Hi, Cindy thanks for stopping by! You know, I thought of you when I found that white birdcage. Funny how that happens! It was a lucky find for sure.
What beautiful blooms you have. My garden blooms are looking pretty too and I'm going to do a post about them soon too.
Happy Memorial Day!
Rhoda
Gorgeous! You're an inspiration to me. I'll have to plant some things in my little patch of garden.
Love your delphinium. We planted several of these last year. Only 2 have survived and I hope that ours will one day look at beautiful as yours. I love how they frame your garden wall piece!
