Happy Monday!

Pin It Now!

I have a wicker chair addiction! It's something I have a hard time not buying when I see a good price on them at the thrift stores. I was going to sell this one on Craigslist but I moved some things around and it found a new home in my dining room. I asked Lauren if it looked okay there and she said "No, it looks stupid, no one is going to sit over there!" She just doesn't get it. I told her I don't care if someone sits there...does it look good? She shook her head no! Oh well, I like it. I found this soup tureen at the Goodwill for $8 minus 30% off! I sat it next to my other soup tureen. Did I need it...no... but I wanted it!
Debbie ~ My Vintage Daydreams sent me this beautiful bowl below. She also sent me some beautiful desk accessories but I took those to work for my desk. Thanks Debbie I love all the gifts!

It was a hot weekend here...in the mid to high 80s and I didn't feel like painting Lauren's dresser in the heat. I don't mind the painting part but I hate the prep work! Hopefully I'll get to it next weekend.
I'm going to be posting another version of a mirror makeover this week. It will be a different technique than I showed you previously.
Have a great Monday!

Why didn't you tell us that your hutch was going to be on the cover of VICTORIA, this month!!! :) You must really enjoy their "Blue & White" issues!!
How many tureens is "too many"????
Until there is a law against it, shop on!

I showed your site to my sister since I KNEW she would love it. She agreed you have a fantastic place with fab.ideas but since she cleans houses for a living she said she felt sorry for "whoever" cleaned your house..lol
I had not even thought of that. Who does clean your house with a million gorgeous things and most them WHITE?

Congratulations dear friend...I've been off of commenting for a while, but as always its so inviting here.

You certainly deserve that creative award.

I do believe you could decorate with your eyes closed and whatever you did would look fabulous! Looks like the perfect spot for your cute wicker chair to me. And the blue & white bowl from Debbie and the new tureen are gorgeous!

I've had similiar "It looks stupid" conversations with my daughter regarding decorating. But who did she ask to decorate her first apartment??? Moi, of course! She gave me free reign to do basically whatever I wanted so that told me she actually trusted my decorating abilities/decisions more than she ever let on! :D

Traci: I clean my own house! I think I'm too picky to have someone else do it...I'm a total neat freak!

I think the chair looks great there....Lauren's comment made my day.... I thought I was the only one with a daughter who finds my decorating interuptions annoying... Of course you needed another soup tureen... it's an investment that your heirs will reap one day...

The chair looks great there! I love sticking random small chairs in corners....sometimes with pillows.....perhaps a basket....or a stack of books. Oh, I get it!

Love the chair where it is.
What a bargain the soup tureen was - you don't always have to need it and at that price who cares!!

Love your new things. I know what you mean about the wicker chair. We put a bench in our dining room that no one ever sits on and some don't think it looks great there, but I like it. It is made from the headboard of one of the twin beds that was in my son's room when he was a little child. I'm going to feature it in a post one of these days. I think, after I have been doing a blog for a year or so how will I find anything to talk about. But, right now I have so many things it makes my head swim. I think I might go on for 5 years. That is if I don't get too old and forget how to type (or think.)
Have a great week.

Your wicker chair looks fabulous where you put it! I love that my 5 year old daughter still thinks what I buy and where I put it looks great. I know that'll change... :o)

Dearest Cindy, the kiddos just don't get it a lot, do they? Oh well, we do, and your chair looks wonderful there...perfect for a photo shoot I might add! :)
It was funny today when my 20yr. old son brought over a friend and couldn't wait to show off the magazine article on our house, so maybe they get it sometimes...

I also think your chair is perfect in that corner. Tell your daughter that I would love to sit there and just take awhile to look around and enjoy all the lovely things you have there.

I love the soup tureen! I've always wanted one but never got one because I didn't think I would ever use it. What was I thinking? Who needs to use it when it can just sit there and be pretty!

Glenda said...

I think your chair looks fine there. Besides you probably will move it again in the future. If your like me, you'll see a reason to move it either in the front room or in a bedroom. But if you ever want to sell it. Please consider contacting me.

Hi Cindy!
Oh this post really reminded me of how my daughter used to not "get" my decorating either and said the very same thing to me about one of my chair placements! LOL I still always asked her opinion though! Now she does GET it.. and that is fun and rewarding when that happens! I LOVE your tureen and yes, MORE is MORE! Everything is beautiful!

Couldn't believe it when I saw the soup tureen. I've got its twin sitting in my dining room. I couldn't resist it at an estate sale several years ago. It was one of those things I was going to re-sell, but it has never left my house.
I too have had a weakness for wicker, but in the last two years have sent several pieces to auction because they had been in the attic too long waiting for just the right place! I look forward to your new projects!

Cindy~I have been lurking at your Romantic Home for about a month now and have enjoyed every moment. And I have never blogged before. But tonight I knew I was really hooked! Yesterday I had to go to my friends home and tell her that her husband had died. So after two stressful days, all I wanted to do tonight was to get back, get a glass of wine and go to Cindy's home and relax! Yep, I'm hooked! Thanks for sharing your warm, wonderful home with all of us. I look forward to your next project or special find. Bambi

Hi Cindy! I just want you to know, you never disappoint in your postings. Your "small" apartment, as you call it, must be pretty big? You have so many beautiful things and you certainly know how to display them. You are very much an inspiration to me. Blessings!

The best part of this story is the conversation with the 15 year old daughter. I have one of "those" at home too. Do all 15 year old girls take their lessons from the same teacher? That sounds exactly like what mine would say. When I paint a room and put the very first brush stroke on, my daughter is the first to say, "mom, it doesn't match." The chair looks great! Do I need to tell you how many chairs I have in my home that nobody sits in?...plenty.

Holly said...

You should sell it all and start afresh..... (and THEN sell it all to me because I want it all!!!!!) I love that chair next to the hutch! ... maybe I'll finish up my "new to me" chair and put it into my dining room... Lovely picture!

I also found the lovely white Soup Tureen at a thrift store, (only mine was $5 :) I was searching and searching to find one like it on Google and came across your photo. Do you happen to know anything about it? Who made it? etc.

Thanks!
