The armoire is finally finished! You can click on the photo to enlarge it. I just added the swag appliques to the bottom to keep it simple and not over done. I also lightly distressed it. If I was able to I would have added some appliques to the top doors but they slide into the cabinet when they're open and there just wasn't enough clearance. I still want to get some glass knobs to replace these, I think that will make a big difference.
I'm really happy with how it turned out and it's so nice to be able to hide my TV in there. Before I got this, I just had my TV sitting on top of a cabinet. I'm so happy I don't have to see that black TV unless I'm watching it. Below is the opposite side of the room, now the refection in the mirror even looks better! (Oh, I wish I would have arranged those pillows better before I took this picture)
Here is the before photo...it was nice but didn't go with my home at all.
Now that that's all finished....drumroll please......on to the next project! I just bought this on Craigslist this week. I'm taking a vacation day from work today to start stripping and painting it. I can't believe I'm starting another huge project like this! I actually hate painting furniture but it's the only way I can afford to decorate my home they way I want it.
My apartment is officially packed full with all the furniture it could possibly hold! There are a few things I want to replace but only when I find a fantastic deal. I'm not totally in love with my dining room chairs but since they were free (from a neighbor's curb) I'll use them until I find some french-inspired cane-backed ones that I really want. I still need to get the bergere chair reupholstered too.

The Armoire Makeover and a Sneak Peak of My Next Project!
Pin It Now!
I know a few people have passed awards to me this past week. I'm not ignoring you... I plan on updating my blog this weekend to acknowledge those!

It looks great! I agree that glass knobs would really add to it. I can't believe that you hate painting furniture since you do so much of it and you do a great job.
When I hate doing things, I don't do a very good job. I tend to skip all of the prep work and you can tell after it's done that it could have been better.
Great job!
Come visit my blog and look at my photo of my shelf from a couple weeks back. You inspired me and I almost completely copied your shelf that shows next to the (gorgeous!) armoire. I'd really love if you'd show a close-up so I know what to do now that it's time to put my bunny away and switch out the china, lol.
The armoire looks great! I LOVE your dining room chairs! I'm sad to hear you want to replace them. I wish I could take them off your hands when you do. And I think I know what your next project is so I'm excited to see how it looks in your lovely home.
I bought a Queen Anne style china cabinet from Craigslist at least 6 months ago and it's still sitting in my garage because I have not had a chance to paint it yet. First, I was too busy during the holidays and then, for the past 3 months, I have been down and out with a torn tendon in my shoulder. Now that I'm a little better, I can hopefully get started on it in the next week or so.
Happy painting, Cindy!
Cindy it turned out just gorgeous!! I love the simplicity of the appliques, you're right just enough to add a little interest. Target carries those glass knobs too!! Have a wonderful weekend, xxoo, Dawn
Cindy, that really turned out so pretty & is perfect in your space.

What a beautiful, beautiful job! It looks lovely! So elegant and romantic. Good work, Cindy!
You've done another amazing job. The garlands on the lower portion are absolutely perfect.
I will anxiously anticipate your next project.
Great work, Cindy!
The glass knobs will be perfection.
You realize that it's your fault that I have a sand, paint, antique project waiting for the weather to warm here? I can hardly wait - thanks for the inspiration!
~Lisa
The armoire is beautiful!!!
It looks like there is a hint of pink in the paint. Maybe I'm just seeing things here through rose colored glasses becaause I want to do the same to a hutch but don't have the nerve to start...yet. It's working though...you are inspiring me! ♥
Cindy,
You never cease to amaze me! The armoire looks fantastic. You took an already lovely looking piece of furniture and made it even better.
I hope you find just the right glass knobs, because I agree with everyone else..it will be perfection.
Ooohhhh it´s just beatiful!!!!
You´ve done a wonderful job!
Cindy, it's gorgeous!
Wow ! Great job. I too have a TV cabinet that needs to be painted (just plain ol'pine with lots of grain showing). Not nearly as nice as your before pic. How much sanding did you do before you started to paint? Did you use primer? Any tips would be appreciated. Great job! ~ Karen
Your armoire is just gorgeous! I wish I could find one for our TV. I, too, hate that big black thing sitting in the living room. And the sneak peek at the hutch makes me excited to see the whole project when you've finished it. ~Adrienne~
It turned out wonderful like I knew it would. Just enough touches to make it right and not overdone. Glass knobs will finish it off nicely.
It will be so fun to watch the next project evolve as well.
BEAUTIFUL job. On to another project already. . . you are the little energizer bunny now aren't you?
Blessings,
Sher
Ouuuuuu Cindy, pat yourself on the back girl!
It looooooks wonderful!
I love it!
Will you paint mine next? :-)
Can't wait to see the china cabinet!
Hugz,
Dolly
Wow! The armoire turned out wonderfully!! I can't wait to see how the next project turns out.
This is just lovely. You are such a great talent at this dear heart. Your home really should be featured in a HUGE magazine article!! It would knock people's socks straight off their feet!
I can not wait to see what you will do next.
Love,
Sue
Cindy,
I love what you have done with this. I have a china cabinet I would love to paint to match the rest of my dining room but am not crazy about the stripping part. The painting part doesn't seem too bad just the stripping. Anyway, love the outcome and have a great weekend.
Oh Cindy, That came out BEAUTIFUL!!!! You're such an inspiration. I have a few bigger pieces that I want to paint but I want to remove all the varnish first like you do, and it's just been too cold here to work outside or in the garage. Girl, I don't know how you find the time or energy to do all you do... You're like a decorating machine or decorating superwoman! lol!
Pattie
I love what you did with that armoire. I wouldn't have liked that dark wood either. I don't know why folks have huge TVs predominating their rooms! And I too hate painting. I always make a mess. I leave the painting to those more experienced! I'm sure you're entire apartment is lovely.
Brenda
gosh you did a wonderful job with that armoire, it is so beautiful with your blues. Glad I found your blog :) Catherine x
You have a lovely blog and lovely furniture! I think the armoire looks great, and I like that it only has appliques on the bottom. Great job!
Oh Cindy!
I love how the cabinet came out! We all knew it would look great!!
OOOH, a new project? That cabinet will be a beauty too, especially after you put all of your pretty things in there! Have a great weekend.
Just beautiful Cindy!
Beautiful! It really looks great! (especially because it's white)
wow, that looks great! I love using appliques. I just posted on putting them on something if you want to stop by and check it out.. You do a great job for hating it so much... :)

FABULOUS work! The cabinet looks beautiful! I can't wait to see the next completed progject.
~elaine~
I love it!! Also wanted to congratulate you on your feature in Romantic Country! So happy for you!
Barbara
Cindy, your armoire turned out gorgeous. Do you mind posting on my blog the color paint you used? I need to have my kitchen cabinets painted but I don't want a glaring white...your armoire looks like a soft vanilla color.
Thanks -
Judy
Hi Cindy!
You did a great job on the armoire! It goes perfectly with your decor. The china cabinet will look incredible when your done too. I don't like the painting either but then feel so good when I see what I've created! Your place looks so beautiful Cindy!

OOOOH your blog is beautiful! Glad I found you!! laurie
That is beautiful! Your style is so pretty!
You're starting another painting project...I know what you mean about painting furniture but it's so worth it.
Oh Cindy, the armoire looks like a million bucks. It still amazes me how a coat of white paint totally transforms a piece of furniture like this. And I love the swag appliques, just the perfect touch.
Hugs,
LeAnn :)
I'm joining the crowd.....I love how it turned out! You do such a great job. If you loved it more it would be a great way to earn some extra income. You do such a professional job. :-) Rosie
The armoire looks gorgeous :) I love to see what you do with your home because it's so inspiring.
Have a great night,
rue :)
Hi Cindy,
Your armoire looks lovely. It truly came out gorgeous! (I knew it would)~ You are so talented! You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you!~Hugs, Rosemary
Oh, Cindy - it turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I love the appliques! And now you are on to the huth - I cannot WAIT to see that all done! Your home is so dreamy... Just my style!... Donna
I agree - we would never know you hate painting furniture - it all looks GREAT! What I am wondering is, what is the pattern of the plate you show in this picture of your next project??? I saw one like this a while back and have been trying to locate this pattern. Thanks and love your blog!
Everything looks wonderful! I love that Bergere chair. I wish I was close enough to help you with it!
Ca-yute! Where'd you get the decals?
Cindy, I love your house and your style. You and I have alot in common. I did a little flower arranging yesterday and while I was doing it I thought of you for some reason. I just knew you would appreciate what I was doing. When I said a little flower arranging I meant it literally. You see I was arranging
flower's in a THIMBLE! It's really Quite unique, and so sweet, tender and romantic looking when finished. This is a very heated competetion at our local fair. I wanted to invite you to my porch to have a look. Hope you come and hope you like it. A devoted reader Shanda..
You have a very charming home. I am working on a blog and your's is a great inspiration .
Oj!.- as we say in Norwegian, the same as wow! It`s really beautiful and looks great.

Great job on the armoire. I bet if the previous owner saw the after picture they would want it back.
