Cupcakes!

Pin It Now!

I saw these cupcakes on someone's blog (sorry I don't remember who's) and I knew I had to try them. I love lemon and I love cream cheese frosting...the two together are divine! So much for the diet!
I bought the little sign-holder stand yesterday. I've been wanting one of these and I was so happy to find one locally.

The recipe for the cupcakes can be found here. I added a little extra powdered sugar to the frosting so I could pipe it on. I also added some lemon zest to cake batter. They are yummy!

UPDATED to add: I should know better than to put something on my blog and not let you know where I got it ~ The cupcake holder I bought at Target, it's made by Wilton. I've also seen them at Michaels. Click here (mine is smaller than this one). The little sign holder I bought at a small shop in downtown Campbell, California called Garofalo's. They don't have a website but you can see the shop here. The owner Cyndi told me her friend is opening a new shop across the street in May that is going to be more "romantic decor" I can hardly wait...a romantic decor store in my own city! When they open, I'll take photos of both to show you. Since you probably don't live close to Campbell you can find similar ones on eBay. Click here.

Dear Cindy: I was sitting here gazing at the picture of the lemon cupcakes when just outside the window two cardinals landed on the birdfeeder.  I felt so uplifted after this very long winter that I just had to write you to say "Thank you for such a beautiful blog."  This is my first visit.  You are an inspiration to me.

Cindy - I don't think I have ever left a comment on your blog before - this weekend I read your blog from beginning to end and don't think I have ever enjoyed anything so much!!!! Thanks!!!! We have a lot in common - I am also a single Mom of 2 (both girls, though) my 16 year old is still at home and that is an adventure in itself. I seem to have the same luck you do with men - hopefully that is all going to change from here on....I also work full time and wish like everything that I could quit tomorrow....anyway don't want to get too personal here, but believe me we have lotz and lotz in common.

I am just getting started with my blog and you have been such an inspiration to me to re-do my little house - I went to some garage sales this weekend and I found a white birdhouse - I bought it and thought, "Now, what would Cindy do with this, it's already painted white!!!" - HA!

Tomorrow hopefully I will post my treasures.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work!!!

Donna

I have got to see if they are at our local Target.

That is the first cupcake holder I've seen that I think very pretty.

Cindy - those look so great! Just hearing you talk about Campbell makes me miss California so much... We used to love to go to breakfast at the Cook Book in the Pruneyard (way back in the late 70's/early 80's). I don't even know if any of that is there anymore, but what lovely memories!

I just wanted you to know that I've given you a "You Make My Day" award on my blog. Thank you for your inspiration and kind comments you've left... Donna

Tender Heart Treasures has sign holders that are quite similar(they call them a photo stands).

http://www.tenderheart.com/thtibeCSrdSrchDisplay.jsp?cg=-200&ds=0&dr=20&st=kw&cpg=0&tsb=Y&kw=photo+stand

You have to get through a lot of "country" items, but they do have many cute shabby/cottage things too. (they usually have a great deal on shipping too and if
you're not in Nebraska, there's no sales tax either.Cute & a good deal!).

I keep saying I am going back to WW but then I feel the need to bake. What is a girl gonna do? Thanks for your sweet comment about my bedroom. You should have hope because I know there are more good men out there.

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy!

I am compelled to write you for many reasons. I have never posted a comment on a blog before..thus a newbie.

First and foremost, I stumbled upon your blog quite by accident but when I needed your inspiration the most. You, your home, your ideas, your creativity, your inspiration - WOW!

Our home is large, eclecticly furnished....cottage, shabby chic, comfortable...you name it. I had subscribed to Romantic Homes, Victoria and Country Home for years and gleaned ideas from them and every cottagey gift shop and home for years. However, I have come to the place in my life where everything in my house was beginning to look like a gift shop. I love the shabby chic/cottagey look, but need my version much simpler.

I have a shelf going around the total three walls of our guest room and just this past weekend took every single thing down, readying it for a garage sale. I removed every "foof", every flower, every doily.....ready to start again...simpler. Seeing snipets of your beautiful home (my eye going immediately to your shelves) gave me renewed hope AND energy. I'll be bringing some of my things back out of the garage sale boxes!!

So THANK YOU for taking the time to share your life and your talents with those of us who really appreciate it. I hope to pick up a copy of "your" magazine tomorrow and I plan to bake the cupcakes on Friday!

You are a blessing and an inspiration to me!!!

Hi Cindy, Loved the sign holder. I called the shop you bought it at and they are saving 2 for me. My friend and I are going on Saturday to pick them up. Campbell is only 40 minutes away from me, lucky me. Looking forward to our little road trip. Love your blog. I live in the bay area and it is nice to have someone not only in the same state but that live close that like the same cottage shabby chic style and you are right there are not to many store's around.
I'll let you know what else we found in Campbell.

These cupcakes look almost unreal, like they belong to a doll house or something. I am not an eater myself to be honest but I love how the food looks in most of the cases and these little guys sure look stunning! And thanks a lot for such an adorable post!
