The San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers

Pin It Now!

Last Thursday my son, daughter and I went to the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers. San Francisco is about an hour away from where I live but it's like a whole different world in so many ways. The climate is usually drastically different, the culture is different and driving around the city is so much different than the South Bay Area. Driving a stick shift in San Francisco is downright scary but also a bit comical at the same time. I was panicked every time I ended up at a red light or stop sign on one of those steep hills that the city is known for. Luckily I made it without rolling backward or killing the engine. I did make a left turn going the wrong way down a one-way street though. Luckily I realized I was going the wrong way as soon as I turned so I was able to back up and turn around. The drive around San Francisco gave us all a lot to laugh about. We had a blast! We also had a great lunch on Fisherman's Wharf. I had clam chowder is a sourdough bowl...ya can't get any more San Franciscan that that!
The Conservatory of Flowers is located in Golden Gate Park and is stunning when you see it. This was the day the storm were starting to hit California so it was really cloudy and dark.

I wanted to take this cherub planter home with me! It was huge!

After we left the conservatory we drove through Golden Gate Park and saw this beautiful waterfall.

It's back to work after 2 weeks off. I got a lot done around my place. I finished painting the kitchen and I painted my dining room table. I'll be posting pictures soon.

Thank you so much for sharing this ray of sunshine with flowers and green plants. It was a nice treat after staring at my 2 feet of snow we just finished shoveling!
You are much braver than I though, driving in SF would be bad enough, but never in a stick~

I can't even begin to tell you how much I've missed your daily posts since you've been on vacation but it sounds like you and your kids had a great time in SF and your time off was extremely productive. I'm really looking forward to seeing pics of your kitchen. I bet it's gorgeous!

I love Golden Gate park! Unfortunately, the conservatory was closed when we were there, so we didn't get to go in. So, your photos are a treat!

Cindy, lovely photos. I love fresh lemons, too. My daughter is going to Napa Valley on her honeymoon, any suggestions for a B and B or places to go?

Cindy,
The conservatory is lovely. I was in S.F. maybe 7 years ago and it was closed and they were trying to raise money o re-do it. Guess they succeeded. That park is so beautiful; they were filming the "Wedding Planner" and there were literally 12 vans full of flowers waiting to be set up. I wanted to bring them all back to my hotel!!.

Great photos. I did not see this conservatory when I visited Golden Gate Park.
Your post reminded me of my plan to visit the Tower Hill Botanic Garden to see the blooms in the conservatory there. Of course, overnight we had a big snowstorm in this area.

Hello dear Cindy! Now I really look like a stalker because I am reading your old posts from January! I just wanted to say that very close to Golden Gate Park is The Legion of Honor which is one of the most beautiful art museums I've ever seen. I hope you and Lauren visit it often!

Also- your maiden name! How cute that you become CindyKihn! It sounds like a character in a children's book- adorable!
