Over the top!

Pin It Now!

My daughter told me last night that my Christmas decorating was now over the top which is her dramatic way of saying it's too much. Funny thing is, I don't think it is...not even close to too much! I guess that's the difference in our personalities. When I was her age I had a full size Christmas tree in my bedroom. I still remembering decorating it with my best friend while listening to my Beach Boys records. What prompted her comment is when she saw me decorating my bed. Okay, maybe that is a little extreme but I love how it turned out.
I just have a little Christmas tree on my dresser. If I had room in there, I would have a full size one. I think I'm finally done with my decorating but not because of Lauren's comment, because I don't have any more decorations left to put out!

Oh! Oh! OH! How breathtakingly beautiful and festive your entire home looks! I especially love your bedroom decorations. No...the jar filled with the christmas balls. Uh, maybe the tree is my favorite! Oh nevermind...I can't pick a favorite because it's all so wonderful. Sit back, put your feet up and enjoy. You did an amazing job.

Over the top? No way! It's beautiful. My husband doesn't understand either. I want to have two trees this year (one in the family room and one in the living room) and he thinks i'm nuts!

I have always loved decorations in the bedroom in all the magazines I look at. I have never decorated mine, but I think that after seeing your pretty bedroom, next year I will!

I think you have done a wonderful job:-). It's not over the top at all. In fact, I think you have added such beautiful touches that if you added more, it would still be very tasteful. It's cordinated so well :-).
Have a wonderful day!!

Cindy how beautiful!! I think I would be tempted to keep the garland on the headboard up all year long!! Everything is just lovely.

Merry Christmas

Hey Cindy! I'm with you... you can NEVER do too much of Christmas! LOVE your bedroom... very simple and elegantly decorated.
Merry Christmas!

I'm back to say I think Beverly might have a marvelous idea...keeping your headboard decorated all year long. You could possibly replace the Christmas pine with ivy. The lights and ribbon intertwined with ivy would be a stunning romantic addition to your beautiful bedroom!

Cindy, my daughter and I have the same differences of opinion. She believes "less is more" and I believe "the more the merrier"!!!
Your bedroom looks amazing especially your newly restored bed all lit up. I love it!! Too bad you ran out of decorations but there's still time.....:)

OH, HOW BEAUTIFUL!!! Everything is gorgeous, Cindy, and not over the top at all! Believe it or not, I'm the restrained one around here. My daughter wants to have tons of colored lights in the front yard -- but we're going with a spotlighted wreath on the front door, and two small wire trees with white lights.

Mary

It's funny how personalities differ.
My mom is the one who still doens't have her tree up, and I, the daughter (22), have my house filled with so many snowmen and santas you would think I had been "collecting" for years!

We'll chalk it up to very different personality types!

best,

Oh my goodness, I love the lights on the bed, and the little tree. Wish I had room for a big tree in my room too. Don't think it's over the top at all.

Cindy -

Your home is beautiful. Not overdone! What a beautiful idea you had in your bedroom. I like Beverly's idea of leaving it up all year. And the idea of changing it to ivy in the summer is great.

My sweetheart and I have wanted to add a tree to our room for the last couple of years but we just haven't stopped long enough to do it. I have a couple of ideas that I hope to get done this year. Your pictures just spurred me on. I'll share pictures if I get that far before Christmas.

How did you attach the swag to your headboard?

Cindy, I think that it looks lovely! My own mother once made a very similar comment to me. :) Your bedroom looks very pretty! I thought about venturing into ours, but we're redecorating it right now so it's a mess. I'll bet that I do it up next year, too...

Oh how lovely!

I only have about 25% of my decorations out because my house/farm is for sale.

Looking at all your wonderful decorations has me wanting to go put more things out.

I did change my bed quilt to the snowflake comforter with matching shams, but didn't put up my bedroom tree... yet!

Cindy, thank you so much so sharing your lovely home with us!

I love how you did your bed. You are giving me ideas. I do have a small tree in our bedroom.
It seems the earlier I start decorating, the more decor I put out. But, it makes me happy even though it takes a while to take down.
I love all your holiday touches.

Seeing pictures of your bedroom still takes my breath away. I still can't get over how you redid that bed.

I don't think your decorating of your bed is "over the top," "over the bed," maybe, but not over the top.

I LOVE IT. I think I should see if I have any extra lights and garland laying around to my bed. . . hhhuuuummmmm.

Blessings,

Cindy,
Gorgeous! Everything you've shown is beautiful. Not "over the top" for me. Really love the bed - so creative and I'm sure gives off the most beautiful lighting at night. Looks enchanted!

Absolutely beautiful. Makes me want to get my bedroom decorated. We are in the mist of remodeling, so it won't be this year. You are a great influence!

Hi Cindy,
Over the top is GREAT, there is no such thing as too much over the top! My philosophy is turn up the volume on the cd player, let the Beach Boys belt out "The Little St. Nick" and let the decorating begin!
