More Christmas Decorating

Pin It Now!

Yesterday on my lunch hour I went to the thrift store and found some old ornaments. They're dated 1972 on the box. Hmmm I was 12 years old, I remember that Christmas. I got my first pair of skis! Any way, I thought they would be perfect in my beverage dispenser. I have to thank Tracy for this great idea. I turned the spout to the wall so it just looks like a beautiful jar now.
3 boxes of ornaments for $1.99 each. I had enough to add to the red balls that I have in my tiered dish. Every time I put pictures of this piece on my blog someone asks where I got it. When I was a kid we used to go to Disneyland every year (sometimes twice). My mom found this tiered dish at a shop that was in the New Orleans area of Disneyland. I was only about 5 years old but I remember how beautiful that little shop was. They had ceramic lemons in this on display. I've always loved this tiered dish and a couple years ago my mom gave it to me. It brought tears to my eyes because I know how much she loved it. I will always cherish it! It's a great piece to decorate with each season.
Here is one of the ornaments I bought a few years ago for my daughter. At that time she LOVED cupcakes.

My ex-mother-in-law gave me this ornament in the early 80s. The little lobster trap with the seagull I bought on my first trip to Martha's Vineyard in 1987.
This is a Santa that I bought a few years ago. I loved that he was blue and white.
And some cute little snowmen...
Santa on a rocking horse...
I just love unpacking all my ornaments each year and remembering who gave them to me or when I bought them. I still have the very first ornament I ever bought when I was 18 years old.

Very pretty color combos you used this year. I am from the old school that says that RED has to be in the decor.

Keep up your beautiful work!

Your ornaments are so beautiful. I saw an article in the December 2007 issue of Country Living about the Shiny Brite brand glass Christmas ornaments...according to the article you got a deal on them at $1.99/each.

Your jar and all your ornaments are so pretty! I love how you put the pearls in to fill up the bottom of the jar. I love the little shaped glass ornaments, I collect more every year. I'm going to have to hit my thrift stores and see if I can find some vintage ornaments, too--they are so pretty! Thanks for the inspirations!

I love how you used your dispenser for your Christmas balls. I have a lot of old 50-70's ornaments as well. They bring back a lot of great memories. I have a small tree in my home office with several of them on it.

Beautiful ornaments! Today, I saw some large round vintage turquoise glass ornaments with heavy brass/metal tops. They cost $8.50 each. I didn't buy any, but maybe I should have. Do you think that was pricey? You definitely found a bargain at $1.99 per box!

What a great find for all of those ornaments! I too love going through my ornaments one by one and remembering the details. Sadly my children are leaving the nest and having to pack up theirs for their own collections. But, then again, means I'll now have room for new memories on my tree.
Thanks for sharing.

I know that Christopher Radko has copied the Shiny Brite ornaments and he is selling look-a-like one in his collection and they are much more than 1.99.

Those thrifted ornaments were a lucky find. I've been looking, since November and haven't found any.

I love your beverage dispenser. I recently found one at Sam's Club for $30.00 (it was in a mail order catalog for $80). I never thought to use it like you did. Thanks for the great idea.....I love all the ornaments you display and you scored on the Thrift Shop trip on your lunch hour!!!

Cindy, all of your Christmas decorations looks truly beautiful and your flocked tree is gorgeous! I had never heard of a flocked tree either, but then again, we don't do real tree's for Christmas here in OZ either! Everything you do is always, simply stunning.

Cindy, I collect the glass ornaments too! Each year I buy one for my grandchildren that I give them each year. They are only three years old. They come to my house to "help me decorate" my tree and I send them home with a brand new ornament of their own. I sign each one, "Love Nana & Papa" and the year that they received it. I hope they will cherish them in years to come!
I have enjoyed your blog so much!
