Decorating with Birds, Nests & Cages

Pin It Now!

I love birds, nest and cages and I have quite a few throughout my home. The bird above was a clip-on Christmas Ornament but I think he's too pretty to just bring out at Christmas. He sits on top of my plate holder (which I use to hold dishes because I don't have enough storage).
Below is a birdcage I bought at Walmart for $3. It's in my downstairs powder room.
A bird nest on my bedside table...
A birdcage on my dresser...
A bird in my backyard...

Birdcages on top of my refrigerator...

Little white birds from Target that are salt & pepper shakers...

A nest and a bird in my living room....

Another birdcage sitting at the top of my stairs...

A vintage birdcage on a stand which has a real finch in it...

And, you've seen my birdhouse table a million times. This is an old picture, it's now been moved to the other side of the room!

Cindy,

I love all the pictures of your birdcages, nests, and birds!

I really love the way you used your plate holder. I've never thought of using mine to store plates. That would work, well, to hold them for a buffet dinner.

You always manage to give me a spark of inspiration!

Those are great. I don't have any birdcages, anymore. I do have a nested bird under a cloche and a wreath with a small nest and birds. I bought those salt and pepper shakers too. Did you see the napkin rings that matched? I bought those too.

Very pretty. I'm especially fond of the nest on your bedside table. Love all the colors and textures in it.

I never gave it much thought until I read this post, but you made me realize I have quite a few birds, nests and birdhouses throughout the different rooms of my house too! I guess I'm drawn (albeit unconsciously) to "birdy" things also.

Beautiful things Cindy, I love the cages too. I especially love the bird house table. Didn't your very talented Dad make that for you, or I am getting mixed up with something else? Such a pretty home. Also, how are you feeling now? All better I hope!

Hi Cindy,
I too love birds and bird home accessories. My husband made me a little table just like the one you have with the little birdhouse posts. I had seen one at a craft show and he offered to make me one. Needless to say it is one of my treasures. I have lots of bird treats in my home too! I think I have a couple of pictures on my blog Dipsydoodles! I just discovered you a couple weeks ago and stop in daily with my coffee to see what you have been up to!

Cindy,
I planted my first batch of "drunken paperwhites" tonight. We will see what happens. At this point they smell like they are about to get a shot at the Drs. office. What is under that cloche in your picture. I am having a little cloche challenge over at my blog.

Hi Cindy,

Now I am definitely sure why your blog is one of my favorite. I like every single thing in your home, it is adorable. The other day I just bought a small bird cage which I was searching for a long time. This is my first one and I hope one day I will have a collection like yours.

Hi Cindy,

What a lovely collection. Your nightstand table looks so romantic and pretty with that little next too. Using your plate holder for added storage space is a fantastic idea, thank you for sharing that!

Cindy everything is so beautifully decorated in your home. And your collection of bird and their accouterments are outstanding. I love birdhouses but I probably wouldn't have thought to incorporate 'all things bird' in my decorating.

And I love the idea of using your plate holder every day. That's one thing this house does not have is a lot of storage. I guess they didn't have as much junk back in 1908.

Love,
Julie

Hi Cindy,

Love all your bird cages and nests.
I agree your blog is so inspiring.
I picked up a white birdcage several weeks ago at a garage sale. White of course for $2.00.
I did own a cockatiel, he passed away in Feb 07. :( Nests and birds are the start of new beginings, and represent rebirth and new growth. they look beautiful in your home.

Cindy,
Another thing that we have in common. I have nests, birds and cages as well. I can't seem to stop buying nests especially.
I love your vintage cage.
I agree, that bird is too cute to only put out at Christmas.

Cindy,
I love the chippy cage on top of the refrigerator. You have quite a collection of birds/cages there. If you're interested in adding to your collection (for almost no $...I know you like that!!) and there is a Dollar Tree anywhere near you, they have some gorgeous birds right now in in glittery gold and copper colors - 2 for $1. They also have some cute little white ones(no glitter) - 3 for $1. I just came home with boat loads of both yesterday. You never know what kind of projects will hollar out for a little birdie company, right!!
