Smiles & update on the table

Pin It Now!

JO at Neere An Dear Creations & Designs has given me a "You Make Me Smile Award". Thank you! What a great thing it is to make someone smile. I wish I could see all you you out there smiling at your computers. I think it's so funny when I go by someone's cubicle at work and they are staring at the monitor with a big smile on their face...I know they're not working!

I'm supposed to send this on to 10 other bloggers that make me smile but I'm not going to do that. I know, I'm a party-pooper. I just have a hard time passing these on for two reasons. I hate to single out a few blogs because there are so many I like and I would hate to send this to someone who hates getting tagged. All your comments make me smile, so if you've left me a comment I would like to give this award to you.

Just to update you all on the table from yesterday's post. I have decided to paint it! I love it and I can't imagine selling it but if it's going to live in my house it must painted! I'm not an expert in antiques but from what I understand, is that you never want to paint an old painted piece and I would never do that. If I ever wanted to I could strip the paint off this table and refinish the wood so I'm not ruining the table by painting it. Hopefully this weekend I will get started on it!

Good for you, Cindy, I was hoping you would decide to paint. I'm not sure I get the whole outrageous "value" of antiques anyway.... If painting that table white makes you happy.....then you go girl!!

I am glad you followed your heart!

I agree with the rest, paint it! I never got why people became so outraged when a piece got painted, its about what makes you happy and if you didn't paint it, it would stick out like a sore thumb, can't wait to see the piece finished and in your beautiful place!

It's your table do what you like. Not to be picky but that isn't an antique anyway...it would have to be 100 yrs old right? I love your table. I agree with rosie if painting it makes you happy get that paint brush out!
Best,
Kathy

Yay Cindy that's what I always say, if you want to paint it do, you can always have it stripped back to the original timber if you want...good for you! Imagine if we had ALL timber finished furniture everywhere...oh yuk, or imagine if we had ALL painted furniture everywhere oh yuk again...it all evens out doesn't it? just do what you feel is right

My resources tell me that anything over 25 years old is an antique. That means I am an antique nearly 2X over. Not a pleasant thought.

I'm glad you decided to paint the table. The "to paint or not to paint" issue is always a hot topic. There are purists who feel you should never paint old furniture. That works if you're buying pieces to resell or to increase their value. But a piece that you've bought to grace your home should be finished the way you want it and if you want it white, then paint it white. Just be sure to let us see the end result. ~ Lynda ♥

(ps ~ Congratulations on your award!)
