Wallpaper for my powder room?

Pin It Now!

I heard wallpaper is coming back in style! I found this wall paper and I love it! I'm thinking about wallpapering my powder room with it. When you walk into my entry way the kitchen is on the left and the little powder room is on the right. Straight ahead is the dining room/living room. Trying to make all these rooms flow together but not look all the same is challenging. Blue toile seems to be the one thing tying them all together but I hope this won't be too much! This pattern is Waverly Harlow Toile. I love the rose arbor, the urns and the birdhouse on it ~those are all things I love! Hmm....I wonder if it's too cutesy though...I don't want cutesy....I want elegant, romantic, etc.

Look at all these blue toile wallpapers (click here)! You'll see the one above is very light blue compared to the others. There are pages and pages...they have 101 different kinds of blue toile wallpaper just at this one place! How will I ever chose!

I like this one too but it may be too busy for such a small powder room. It's called Geneve from Just Toiles.

I like the first one Cindy. It's very beautiful, not cutesy. Although you said that your walls are yellow in the dining room and living room right? The yellow might be pretty in the powder room. Keeping the flow but not being the same.

Love,
Julie

I like the first one also. It's different than the typical colonial type scenes you usually see and it's a bit softer if that makes any sense.
If you are doing this yourself find a friend you really really like. My husband and tried to put up just a border once and we were so aggravated with it and each other. We vowed to pay someone if we ever did it again! Something he is rarely willing to do! lol!
I can't to see your results. I'm sure it will be stunning as usual!

The first one is soft and lovely, but I like the bold pattern on the second one. Can you possibly get a sample and pin it to the wall? That always helps me decide.

Good luck, and don't forget to show us when it's done!

Mary

Hi, Cindy! They are all beautiful...it's toile, what's not to love?!? But I like the blue toile that's next to the yellow toile just a skosh more. I'm sure that whatever you decide on is going to be stunning. Sincerely, Cheryl

I love the top toile. You and I have very similar taste and I don't think it's cutesy at all.

Cindy I say "GO FOR IT".....
you can't go wrong with toile!
And if you love it....thats all that matters!

Either pattern is perfect...don't worry about too cutsey and too much...its just a small bathroom that you spend 5 minutes in!

Be sure to show us all what you decide!

I love that first one. I don't think it's all cutesy..... very soft and elegant. Looks perfect for a powder room in your lovely romantic home!

I like the first one too, I think it's soft and romantic but the second one is more dramatic. The yellow one might work well if you used a soft yellow on the walls in the kitchen, otherwise I'd scrap that one because I think it would pull away too much from the white and blue theme...okay there's my two cents worth!

Dena

I love the way wallpaper makes a room look, and I like the first one a teensy bit better than the second. The yellow one would tie in with the kitchen, but is very bold for a tiny room??? maybe.. but you know what? I think if you like it, it will be beautiful because I have yet to see ANYTHING, I mean not one little thing that wasn't incredibly lovely.... It's kind of irritating actually! hahahahahahah... just teasing. I love ya! Have a fun weekend. I wish I lived closer. I LOVE, love, love to wallpaper...

Cindy, I like the first one. I don't think it would be too busy at all. It's simple enough and muted that it would be perfect. Man, I'm sure the person who you rent that little house from is delighted they have someone so talented renting from them. You are certainly improving their property. They should pay you something for your wonderful additions!

Wallpaper is coming back in style? Oh no, what to do with all my special painting techniques on the walls now???

Blessings!

Definitely the first one! I don't think it is too cutesy at all. It's gorgeous! Softly elegant. Very romantic. Accented with silver accessories... Oh, my, it would be lovely!

My very first thought was beautiful not cutesy at all. Plus the accessories you choose will even make it more elegant, like one of your beautiful mirrors and maybe some beautiful blue and white lettle soaps with one yellow to flow with the other parts of your home. OH I can go on and on.I never really cared for blue untill I saw it in your home thank-you. It is my new favorit color I can't wait to go shopping.

Cindy,

I agree and like the first one too. It is very pretty! I like the yellow also but kept in a small area.

Ha ha I like them all! I don't think you'd go wrong with any of these choices. For the eating area in my kitchen I wallpapered in a soft yellow and blue toile. The cooking area is painted the same yellow. It doesn't look cute at all. I've had it for 7 years and I still like it when I enter the room. You'll love it!
Best,
Kathy

I like the first one. Think the others might be a little overwhelming. But they're all beautiful.

I love the first one! I don't think toile can ever be cutsie ~ it's always classic and elegant. ~ Lynda ♥

Wallpaper trends today are all about big bright and bold - I love the second one. The other looks like it would be more suited to a little girls bedroom. I'd go for the gusto and use the second one!

Very pretty Cindy.
I like yellow, so I am partial to that one. I think the first one is best for the powder room though.
Have a nice weekend,

While I like them all pretty much, I also think the first one. It isn't cutesy, but very cottage-y with a touch of elegance.Your powder room's going to look great!

I'm leaning toward the second one because of the bolder pattern. Any of them will work and be sophisticated with the right accessories. You'll pull it off, no problem!

I think the first wallpaper sample is the one for you. It is all that you want, softness, elegence, romantic. This is a good time to ask if you might give us a close up pic of your silver and mosaic tray in your dining room sometime? I would love to see it as I have a tray that I'd love to do the same.
Thanks for creating such an enjoyable blog.

I like them all. I have to say though that the first is a bit different.
The house I lived in from ages 3-13 my parents had decorated with toile in the hallway downstairs and up the to the second floor. I have loved it ever since.
There is a site called www.towntoiles.com. If you haven't seen it you might want to take a look.

Hi Cindy, I like the first one, no I don't think it's too cutesy for a powder room, how about matching the soft blue colour in the wall paper or maybe even a few shades lighter for your kitchen walls?

I love the wallpaper. It's not cutesy. What you accessorize with will add the romantic touches. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

I would have chosen the first one. And may I wonder: What is a powder room? As I'm from Sweden I've never heard of it before LOL.

I say go with the one you feel is more a reflection of you :) From seeing the other pic's of your home I say it looks like the first one, just my opinion though, you will make the right decision I am sure.
I love yellow walls, but then most of my home is done in yellow LOL, and I am making myself a studio type room which I also did in yellow.

I like the first one. Toile is very elegant, especially that light blue color. I would toile everything, if I could.

I too like the first one-wallpapers are such a good way to change the mood of a room!!

I'm back adding my other 2 cents. I really like all three as I said before. What I noticed right off was the last two papers are more formal than the first paper. I guess it depends on the feel you want the room to have. Recently I spent the night at a very old log cabin a couple has restored. When I went into the powder room is was so unexpected. It was BEAUTIFUL. She had the room wallpapered in red and yellow toile very bold. The decor for the cabin was Swedish. I think toile is one of those rare papers that doesn't seem overwhelming. OK enough from me. Good Luck! Kathy

Cindy I love the first one... I like the softness of the blue, seems just perfect for a powder room. When it comes to Toile, it is all so beautiful romantic and simply wonderful...

Thanks so much for your sweet comment regarding "Silhouette". I am looking forward to seeing that finished powder room, I just know it will be just lovely...

I like the first choice too. I think sometimes you can have "elegant" at first glance, then at second have a touch of whimsey. I think it would be fun!
