My Window Frame Mirror

Pin It Now!

One of my dear readers asked if she could see some closeup pictures of this mirror. I sent them to her through email and thought I would share these with you also. My dad made this for me many years ago. He started with an old window frame which was very plain. He added the top and bottom portion. I added the mirrors and painted it blue and now it hangs in my dining room. I've thought about painting it white but I'm not sure if I should.

I have a window/mirror hanging in my entrance way. But it's very plan. I love that look. I think that I'll have my husband work on embellishing it a little with the left over wood from our kitchen-trim project.

Thanks for the tip! It's adorable!!

Love,
Julie

What a wonderful way to take an old window and dress it up into something more subtantial. Lovely!

That is a great mirror and the lamp is fantastic. I like the tea pot too. It seems my eye always goes to that blue and white. It gets me in a lot of trouble!

You are so dangerous with a can of white paint!!! ha ha... I say keep it blue. It helps to accent the pieces you have displayed on top of the mirror. I love that mirror too.

Hi Cindy,

I have enjoyed the peeks of this window mirror in other posts so I am really glad to see a close up. It's just lovely and a very clever idea. I think you should leave it blue, it's just got your signature on it with that shade :)

Happy Friday,
Dena

So pretty! I love having a mirror in the dining room -- it's great to reflect the candlelight. I'm wishing I had a room where blue and white china looks as good as it does in yours! My rooms tend to call for roses, reds and pinks...

I think the color is beautiful just as it is :)

I have a large 3-paned window that I bought to make into a mirror/window for over my mantle. It turned out to be too large and overpowering for the room so it's in the garage waiting for another inspiration. I didn't add the mirror before I discovered that it was too large. I have an idea for using it outside on my patio but we need to build our pergola first.

I love the color you used on yours. Thanks for sharing an up-close look at it. I love the way you've accessorized it.

The blue is very lovely but I can certainly relate to pondering over how something would look in a different color. LOL! Sometimes I think giving something a fresh new look can perk up our spirits and make everything else around us seem fresh & new. If you do decide to paint it white and also distress it, the blue would probably show through in some places and that could look cool. And if you're not crazy about it white well...hey...it's only paint right? You can always change it back to blue. The color doesn't diminish or change the sentimental value of the mirror one bit.

Listen to your heart Cindy. I'd say it hasn't lead you astray yet in the decorating department! You always seem to get it right.

You know I'm usually all about painting things white, but in this case, I think it's perfect just as it is.
Love it, and how special that it was made by your dear dad!

Definitely leave it blue. I love the chippy blue paint and it looks great with the blue and white teapots.

Hi Cindy,
Great mirror! My dad has made some beautiful things for me too but unfortunately they were built into previous homes so I don't have them any more.
Love the pretty blue & white tea pots above the mirror. Can we have a close up of those some time?
Your blog just keeps getting more beautiful all the time.

What a great way to reuse an old window frame! I have a couple of those hanging around (ANOTHER project LOL). Your Dad is very talented and it's lovely that he makes things for you. I like it blue - and I love the blue & white dishes you have on the top. Also, love the teacups under the cloche in the post down below. Now why didn't I think of that! I'll have to "borrow" that idea - thanks!

What a wonderful dad you have! Wanna share him? :-)

Love the mirror..... I'd paint the frame white and leave the top molding blue for a fresh new look!

Enjoy your day!

Simply beautiful, and I say keep the blue. You have lots to go with it, and if it is white, it might fade into the background (although with the way you transform things, it would look beautiful either way!!).
