A Bed for Beau

Pin It Now!

Awhile ago, I found this little bed at the Goodwill for $9.99. I think it was meant to be a doll bed but I thought it would make the perfect doggy bed. I added some rose appliques, finials, and painted it white. It still needs another coat of paint and then I will distress it a bit but I thought I would show you what I've done so far. It came with the mattress but Beau prefers something softer so I'm going to make something softer and prettier for him (well, the prettier part is for me, he really doesn't care).
I'm not sure how much he uses this bed because when I'm home, he's always by my side but I have seen him lay in it when the sun is on it. He loves the sun!

This is where he would prefer to sleep....my bed! I caught him taking a nap here last weekend. When I'm at work I keep my bedroom door shut because he likes to chew up pillows. I'm sure a lot of people are grossed out by a dog on the bed and I used to feel that way but some how this little guy just warmed my heart and I've spoiled him so much. He does get regular baths and he only goes outside for...well, you know what. Get your rest little guy, I've entered you in The Petco Chihuahua Race this Saturday!

How totally cute, Cindy! I love that you found a dogbed for your cutie pie. And I understand how they can end up in your bed too. I'm petless for the first time in 14 years & miss them...have snuggled many nights with a cat & dog!

Oh how sweet is Beau...and that bed is too cute! I have a dog that sleeps in the foot of my bed too...er...I should say that he sonetimes tries to *move on up* if he can get away with it! Like your Beau, Kip is bathed and does not get too dirty but I know that many do not think I shoudl do this! HE does however! : )

Your house is just so lovely and you have such a wonderful sense of style. YOU never fail to impress me!! Wow.

Hugs,
Sue

I have two little dogs and one of them always goes for the pillows too! Sometimes he sinks so far in you can hardly see him ~ they know how to lounge! I love your posts and while I don't usually leave comments I just had to let you know you are not alone in loosing your heart to a sweet little pooch! AND I love your taste!

It makes perfect sense for him to have a beautiful bed, too. I'm not grossed out with him in your bed~I've had a pack in my bed before.

Beau is sooo very darling! I love what you did with that bed. He's a lucky dog. We bought Maxie(Golden) a very inexpensive love seat from IKEA (it's their cheapest & I would never buy it for a person - it's so hard and you can feel the frame)! But he loves it! Our furry babies give us so much love, they deserve to be pampered too!

Awww, that brings back memories! My shih-tzu used to jump up on the guest bed and snuggle into the pillows just like that. Of course, now I think it's cute but then fluffing up six pillows several times a day used to get on my nerves! LOL!

Your dog is sooo cute!!! And so is the bed. (My cat sleeps with me too.) I wouldn't have let her when I was younger, but middle age has its advantages. Love your blog--everything is so pretty! I've been reading it for several months--enjoy it very much. Thanks for sharing your lovely home. Blessings, Penny in Missouri

That bed was a find, and you did a wonderful job with it! Your doggie is adorable, too (ours sleeps on my son's bed...actually she thinks she lets him sleep on her bed!).

What a cute bed for your cute Beau! I'm not grossed out by dogs in the bed either. We have two who share with us. A 80 pound lab/shepherd mix and a 50 pound lab/shepherd/chow mix. I like cuddling with my puppies!

Love that bed, I now would like to use yet another one of your ideas in my new home! Even if the cats don't use it.
I too used to be grossed out! totally grossed out! at animals on beds. My cats are NOT animals though. :)

What a darling littl bed and just look at him all snug in yours. Who would believe he likes to eat pillows? Not I!!!

Look at him all snug in your bed. Who would believe he likes to chew pillows? He needs some chews of his own. Get him some cow ears from Petsmart. All dogs love to chew, but it's our job to keep them supplied daily with the proper things to chew on.
