Pedestal Dish

Pin It Now!

A couple days ago I showed you a pedestal I found at a thrift store. I wanted to create something similar to what Tina made for Kim. I think hers was a candle stick but I'm not sure. I have no idea what this was for but it looks like it was a pedestal for something. It has a hole on top but it goes all the way through so I don't think it's for a candle. I started looking around my home for a dish that I could put on top of the pedestal. I found a oval relish dish that had similar cut work. This dish goes into a silver tray that I'm using for something else so it's just been sitting in the cabinet for years. I don't remember the last time I actually used a relish dish but I thought it would work well for cheese and crackers. So what do you think? I haven't glued them together yet, it's just sitting up there until I decide if I like it or not.

Perfect! Yes, glue them together. You'll use it in many, many ways.

You really have a great eye, both for the pairing of the crystal, but also for the arrangement of herbs, cheeeses, and crackers.

I just love all your photos and ideas. MORE, please!

Definitely. Go for it! What I particularly like is that the plate is oval. That makes it such a unique piece. Thank you for the comment you left on my blog. My cake plate came from Ross last week. It was $15 or less, which I didn't think was a bad price at all. It's a very substantial piece of glass--very heavy.

Looks good! I'm having a wine and cheese party in a couple of weeks. I have a cake stand similar to this, but I'd never thought of using it for cheese and crackers. May I borrow your idea?!
Thanks!!

Jackie

This looks just beautiful...and using it for cheese and such is great. I love using things other than they are meant for.

Have a wonderful week Cindy!

Cindy! Perfect fit! Love the look!
I am sooo going to make me one.
What kind of glue are you using for such projects?
Thanks for the inspiration!

They are meant for each other! That is gorgeous. You have such clever ideas, when is your book coming out?

I did this with a glass candle stick and glass plate. All was well for a while but then after a couple of months the glue just came, well, unglued. I used epoxy meant for glass. Do you have special glue you will be using?

I love the oval dish - I think they look perfect together.

You come up with the most amazing finds and ideas to use them! I would love to know where you shop!!! The photos of the pedestal dish with the wine and cheese make me want to reach right into the picture and help myself! Love your ideas.

Hi all, thanks, I guess I will be glueing it together! Tina said she glued hers with Super Glue. I used to make birdfeeders out of cup & saucers attached to a copper pipe and I would use an Epoxy called JB Weld. I don't think I'll use that on this because it's a gray color and it will show through. I'm going to look for a glass epoxy that is clear. I think the most important thing when glueing glass or ceramics is to sand the areas so the epoxy has something to grab onto.

You know what would be cute? You could use that darling creation in a bedroom/bath for holding your jewelry. I have a vintage relish dish on my old bathroom dresser~ it holds all my everyday jewelry...Tina

Love them together. You could also use that really great florist clay that would hold them together semi-permanently and then you could take apart sometimes later??? But you may always want them together because you do have the eye, and they look terrific.... Have fun with the bed.

Those 2 pieces belong together - I cannot believe how well they match. Good eye!

Those two pieces match so well, what a clever idea. Could the crystal base part be one of those things you use for floral arrangements? Usually they have multiple holes though not just one.
Whatever it is you have gfound a great use for it.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Glue 'em together, they look FABULOUS!!! I have been wanting to make one of those and haven't found the right two pieces to put together. I'm sure when I least expect it I'll stumble upon something at a flea market or thrift store. Debbie =)
